I like seeing an all-red map as much as the next poster here but in Louisiana's case, drawing a nigger containment district actually makes a lick of sense. New Orleans & its metro area is a sapphire-blue bughive containing a ton of votes that always break 80-90% (D), splitting it off into the surrounding red districts risks diluting the Republican votes in said districts to the point where they could plausibly be picked up by the Democrats in a bad enough year, turning what was intended to be a 6-0 map into a 4-2 instead.
Supreme court ruling doesn't prohibit you from using race, they just say the district must meet other requirements. The old district was a fucking snake lol.

IIRC the Callais decision didn't actually strike down the VRA or find minority-majority districts unconstitutional on principle, it just set the bar to justify that sort of racial gerrymandering much higher. I guess they'd have to go to court yet again for Republican lawyers to argue beyond a reasonable doubt that this is in fact a strictly partisan, totally non-racial gerrymander (and to some extent I think that's unavoidably true when blacks, who comprise the majority of the population in New Orleans & some of the other Louisiana parishes shoved into that one blue district, insist on voting Democrat by 90%+ margins consistently) and thus actually OK but I would expect & hope that getting away with such an argument will be much easier now than before that decision dropped. (And of course, it would surely help the court case if the Republicans who drew the map also aren't so dumb as to ever outright say they intended to racially gerrymander, like the retard who drew California's new map did.)
