A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Labour should be nervous of a by-election literally anywhere. Where are their safe seats these days?

Burnham's supporters are convinced that he could hold most seats in the north west of England, that he is personally popular in a way that the party is currently not.

Although I second @Morethanabitfoolish in thinking that him running, and then losing, and then Labour losing the GM mayoralty to Reform on top of that, would be the funniest thing to happen in UK politics in a very long time.

I've seen ethnic 'food safety' standards. I wasn't fucking ordering that shit in the first place.
Mate.
Don’t tell me you don’t wish for a roll up in a dirty cafe after a full English with a coffee, white, 3 sugars.

Edit, someone (everyone) less lazy than me can find the article on bbc news.
The police finally interviewed starmers rent boys and after having them locked up for a year they have finally agreed they had never heard of Keir Starmer when they fired bombed his house and car. They even made it explicit the rent boys were well aware of previous prime ministers such as May and johnson.

There's run down and there's filthy. There's 'our sink looks like shit and doesn't drain properly but it's got soap and hot water' and 'what's a sink?'. Yea maybe the woman that looks like a permanently pissed off dinner lady selling shit out a glorified caravan isn't somewhere I'd go around licking the floor but I trust her to at least wash her hands after taking a shit and not cook shit that fell on the floor.

A Ukrainian man who is accused of setting fire to the prime minister's house told police he had never heard of Sir Keir Starmer, the Old Bailey has heard.

Ukrainian nationals Roman Lavrynovych, 22, and Petro Pochynok, 35, and Ukrainian-born Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc, 27, are accused of targeting two properties and a car linked to Sir Keir. They deny the charges.

Lavrynovych allegedly carried out the arson attacks after being recruited online by Russian-speaking Telegram user "El Money" who promised him payment.

During a police interview, Lavrynovych was asked several times if he knew who Sir Keir was and whether he held a grudge against him, to which he repeatedly answered no.
All three men, who live in London, are charged with conspiring together - and "with others" - to damage property by fire between 1 April and 13 May 2025.

Lavrynovych, of Lewisham, south-east London, is also charged with damaging property by fire with intent to endanger life on 11 and 12 May 2025 at two properties in north London connected to Sir Keir.

He faces alternative counts of damaging property by fire being reckless as to whether life is endangered.

A transcript of a police interview - from 13 May 2025 - with Lavrynovych was read to jurors on Wednesday.

During the interview, a detective asked: "I just want to ask you about our prime minister. Do you know who that is?"

"No", Lavrynovych replied.

The detective responded: "You don't know who the UK prime minister is? Alright, have you heard of Keir Starmer?"

"No", said Lavrynovych.

He then answered "yes" when asked if he had heard of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The detective said: "Okay so Keir Starmer's our current prime minister, he lives in London. Do you have any thoughts about Keir Starmer and the Labour Party and the government in general?"

"No, not at all", Lavrynovych said, before saying "not really" when asked if he had any interest in British politics.

He also answered no when asked if he held "any grudges" against Sir Keir or the government.

At a second interview on 14 May 2025, Lavrynovych was asked his view on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He said that Russia was in the wrong.

Lavrynovych was also asked his thoughts about Putin and responded: "Nothing good. He's a terrorist."

On 8 May 2025, a Toyota car previously owned by the prime minister was found on fire on a street he previously lived on in Kentish Town, north London. Three days later, a fire was discovered at flats in nearby Islington where Sir Keir previously lived.

On 12 May 2025, a fire was discovered at the front entrance to Sir Keir's Kentish Town home - in the same street where the car was set on fire - which was being rented out to his sister-in-law.

Jurors have previously been told that, after the final fire, "El Money" messaged Lavrynovych to say: "Look, you attacked the home of a very high-ranking person in Britain. I'll send you money, you need to leave the city." Lavrynovych was arrested hours later.

When interviewed by police, Lavrynovych denied being involved in the fires, claiming he was at home on the dates of the first two incidents and visiting his friend Petro in Camden on the third.

He maintained his account after being shown data from his phone linking him to the locations.

The defendant also told officers about being offered money to set fire to the three addresses.

In a prepared statement, he said the contact had offered money to check for CCTV and given instructions about two addresses.

"He said that once done, he would pay me and I trusted him. I needed the money. He has not paid me though."

Lavrynovych also said: "I felt threatened. He threatened me by saying that I would have to do the job as he knew where I lived. I was scared as my grandmother lives at the same address and I could not be sure that he would not do anything."

He said that he did not commit arson at any address.

Carpiuc, from Romford, east London, and Pochynok, of Islington, north London, made no comment in their police interviews.

The trial continues.
He also claims he didn't do it and he wasn't there.

Food safety ratings only tell half the story like the school that only tidies up for Ofsted.
My favourite cafe near Oxford cleans up cooking surfaces with offcuts from old pairs of jeans.

I'm watching "meltdown in response to Reform winning" compilations, and EVERY time they bring up how Reformers shouldn't be allowed to order ethnic take-out food anymore. I think I figured out why they all say this, and it's because the alternatives to ethnic take-out foods are:

1: Support British-owned businesses.
2: Learn to cook.
They also can't conceive of the idea of a native brit cooking ethnic food to begin with, because that's cultural appropriation in their minds, and consequently bad. It's not a law of the universe that a kebab has to be handled by a turk in order to be authentic. If Gordon Ramsey can cook italian food, if the Nando's in Stirling can staffed entirely by white scots, the the Brown Rajhamal at the back end of Gropecunt lane can be run by Big Baz without issue.

They are fine when an Indian servers you pizza, kebabs, burgers etc at their slop take aways that make everything under the sun at a horrible standard of health, quality and general "authenticity" to what ever culture the food originates which they are making from but the second Baz starts a curry shop then all hell breaks lose for appropriation and authenticity.

Rajesh making a pizza is no different to Bernard making a kebab so can we stop picking and choosing on which is cultural vandalism. At least Bernard probably washed his hands before making it.

That reminds me a few years ago when I saw someone try and "own" people who didn't like some viral gay animation by saying "You don't like gays? That's great, we'll block all lesbian porn from your network then!"

Because in their mind they would sooner starve to death than do either of these things, they are telling you that your punishment for voting wrong should be to starve to death. It's KYS with loads of extra steps.
It's the same thing over here, hundreds of videos saying that anyone who voted for Orange Hitler should be banned from eating tacos and burritos and shit.

Because apparently whypepo are so utterly incapable of seasoning dey food that even if you have the recipe you need to have a swarthy immigrant to cook ethnic food or else it doesn't count.

@Chunky Salsa

Where is your first point referring to, Afghanistan? It’s a stretch to say ‘the UK army’/‘we’ did those things when it was a joint enterprise, with the US Army having about ten times the number of troops as the UK forces there at any one time.

I don’t see what happened with Ireland as the victory you seem to either.

Your examples of ‘population removal’ are just mass murder/genocide, I deliberately avoided such examples because that’s not what we’re discussing, we’re discussing mass deportation - millions - and it’s very rare, perhaps uniquely so.

I see that your point is ‘displace’ them into internment camps, then deport. I still think that this would meet resistance and would go on for a very, very long time, appetite would dwindle, rules on who should actually be deported would constantly be relaxed, white Brits would harbour many of them and do a lot performative, suicidally empathic nonsense, but fair enough. You said you’re not saying ‘send in the army en masse and begin dragging everyone out’ - but what if it comes to that? It coming to that is exactly the ‘resistance’ I’m talking about.

If I made it appear as though I expect ‘Paki Vietcong’ to sprout up, then that wasn’t my intention. You don’t need that to cause constant disruption to the objectives though, and what I imagine would happen would be enough to disrupt, especially if they knew they weren’t going to be fired on.

If you’re ex-army then there’s presumably a personal touch to any insinuation from some uppity civvie cunt like me that the British army isn’t all that. Thanks for your service, and I hope you get to see the day that millions go.

Nah the armies a fucking joke lol. Even when I was a retarded teenager, it was a joke. But it is still a professional force that can do extremely impressive things, and people do not really comprehend very easily that the difference between a man with a gun, and a soldier is vast. I got back into the reserves recently and it's weird how little anything has changed. You'd think after a decade there'd be at leas some improvement. I think we are just talking past each other a bit. I really did not do anything that important, it was mostly sunbathing, then sometimes screaming at a retarded man in a robe that wanted to shag his goats. If it comes to an actual civil war scenario as you're describing, then there's no telling. I really cannot overemphasise how awful such a situation would be, and how completely fucked everything would be. The indignities that I saw lumped on people don't even touch some of the stuff I heard friends of mine see.
edit: wew I type like an ESL retard when I'm tired.

I think the funniest part of all this is that it's not even like the ethnic food is overly complicated, it's literally a bunch of meat cooked in sauce and served with rice or flatbread.

Even pizzas are literally just dough, tomato sauce, cheese and a sprinkle of whatever the fuck is in the kitchen that's not moldy.

If it was meat cooked in an overly complicated way and served in a way that can't be done by a 13 year old cuzzie then I'd appreciate keeping some forriners around to make it, but it's not.

Restore wiped the floor with both the Tories and Labour in Great Yarmouth like 3 days ago, what are you talking about?

Do you mean when he was kicked out of Reform? Because that was a year ago.
