Someone did an uncensor patch of Xenosaga III:

My reaction to reading the changes:The Xenoblade 2 retranslation patch and its respective Relabance patch were officially released:
From what I see from the descriptions and Git commits, there does not seem to be anything different from the actual Github repo.
You are saying this under the lens of the botched English versionMy reaction to reading the changes:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=RAA1xgTTw9wI'd rather a Xenoblade 2 patch just remove the gacha element and instead had assured unique drops as quest rewards (with potential randomness). The changes described are really minor, especially as 2 was way more shonen anime than thought provoking.
Also I'd argue that in this case Titans is a better translation than god beasts, with the argument of it connecting to the Christian themes being laughable when the term is absolutely Japanese only thing.
I'll need to wait for someone to play it and say if it really adds something, but I'm really skeptical about it. Just can't see any changes the localization did that has any tangible change on the plot. You are saying this under the lens of the botched English version
I did play it and its a completely different game. The English version is like a sparknotes version where the overall high level plot is the same, but all characterization and lore is changed for the worse. I also played the 3 retranslation by the same team and while its not as big a difference as 2, it is a very different, more somber tone with better characterization.I'll need to wait for someone to play it and say if it really adds something, but I'm really skeptical about it. Just can't see any changes the localization did that has any tangible change on the plot.
AIYAH!!!Xenosaga 1+2 DS is finally getting an english translation!

They are already looking for more translators.I hope they actually finish the Xenosaga 1+2 DS translation. I imagine the scripts are gigantic and there's already at least one failed attempt.
- Main script: 94% (up to Snowfield Hideout)
- NPC script: 10% (plus all name/terminology changes)
What change messed with XDE?Now either Switch 2 security needs to be cracked or Nintendo needs to stop being retarded and properly translate whatever the next game is (probably X2). Unfortunately even if they turned around and became faithful they are still stuck with all the nonsense changes already made by treehouse and 8-4, which bit them in the ass with XE
In the japanese version, mimeosomes are blue bloods, battle affinity is called soul level, skells are called dolls, it's all framing thematically the idea of a soul and a doll being controlled by it. BLADE is also called Beyond The Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator, this was before XC2 when Logos shows up as a character, localizers changed it to Builders of a Legacy After the Destruction of Earth, for some reason. What change messed with XDE?
Well, I don't give a fuck about a lot of that, though the grail thing is interesting.
XE pays off the thematic foreshadowing of the soul and vessel references that got scrubbed in English, in doing so they also start quoting the bible, which they had removed biblical allusions in the English version as well. A lot of people, seemingly most of them having not played Xenosaga already, got upset by the new storyline saying it came out of nowhere and 'ruined' the game, but I would say 8-4 scrubbing everything and rewriting all the characters and removing any foreshadowing in the terminology is a huge contributing factor in that.
Xenoblade 2, beyond all the butchering they did, they also renamed the Holy Grail to Aegis, and then when the DLC came out it's told that the Holy Grail was named after an artifact discovered at the top of the world tree alongside the core crystals, and the artifact looks like the Holy Grail cup. So in English they call the cup the Aegis, all because the localizers changed terms without knowing the planned story in the future.
Only visual changes between versions was the outfit/barrack poster censorship and name changes. The church in XC2 doesn't have real symbols either, I assume its a Nintendo thing.Just to confirm, in the real version of X the church had stained glass windows instead of the weird black ones in the US version, right?
