Now, I think M.A.F.I.A. 3 did that to show "how horrible", and perhaps this came out as a good way to show how things were in fact.
Mafia 3 is hilarious. A core pillar of the game's themes and narrative is muh racism, yet the gameplay has you behave like a stereotypical nigger that goes around assaulting, stealing from and murdering White people.

In Mafia 1 and 2 if the police pulled you over for speeding you could do the civilized thing and bribe them, instead of panicking and running away like a coon.

Damn, I think you might have just sold me on playing CP2077
Keep in mind that it's still your average open world slopfest, just with a somewhat novel setting.

Also, while the missions offer far more freedom in how to approach them, the game world itself lacks much of the reactivity and simulationist elements of Rockstar games, so it ends up feeling very static, plus there's not that many side activities you can engage in like in GTA/RDR or Yakuza games.

Still a worthwhile game to try, especially if you're looking for an evolution of the Rockstar formula, at least when it comes to mission design.

I'm so close to achieving greatness. I just need to win 3 rrounds of dominoes in a row, then I can cheese the last challenge through replaying story missions.
One of the most helpful things I found regarding dominoes [which took me a while to learn how to play, after which I actually started to like it] is that whenever you know you're losing [and you'll usually know you're losing for a while before the game ends], you can just cancel out and leave the table and come right back and it will still keep your win streak because you didn't technically lose. Made it way more manageable.

As I thought! What do you know, they shot themselves in the foot, and did an accurate representation. Honestly, for "underworld crime" games, if the protagonist is associated with gangs and such in a modern setting, I'm all for playing as a mystery meat, nigger, spic or whatever.

On the topic of "Open World/Sandbox feeling" the handcapping of Red Dead 3 that I dislike is the swimming mechanic. Sure, they had to show Marston cannot swim, and the better freedom for the player is only obtained by 1907. Yet Arthur is too restricted in movement throught 1899 - can't go to Great Plains and especially Blackwater, if you leave your cam, someone will end up looking for you. Eh, if you want a "better" experience, you would better go Online, and even then it's not the best plan.

EDIT: Apparently, the word I'm looking for is "Endless Summer", and Gemini Highlighted here:

To explore freely as Arthur without camp interference or mandatory missions,
Stop playing after the Chapter 2 mission "The Hosea Hunting Trip" (Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego). This unlocks stables, fishing, and the camp ledger, providing all necessary tools for free-roam while keeping the camp atmosphere positive and relaxed.
Best Ways to Explore Without "Bothering" Missions:

  • Stop at Chapter 2: This is widely considered the best point for open exploration. The camp is upbeat, and you have all essential gameplay features unlocked.
  • Ignore Yellow Missions: Stick to white "stranger" missions and ignore the yellow main story quests to avoid moving the plot forward.
  • Use the Camp Ledger: As soon as you can, unlock the Ledger (requires doing a debt mission for Strauss) and upgrade camp lodgings to unlock fast travel, allowing you to easily leave camp.
  • Avoid Mandatory TB Mission: You can skip the required mission to see Thomas Downes by triggering it, letting it save, and then deliberately failing it by riding away; this can sometimes allow you to cancel out and keep exploring, according to a Reddit user and a Steam Community post.
  • Ignore the Camp: Camp members rarely "bother" you with tasks, and you can stay away for long periods without consequence.

Exploration Tips for Chapter 2:

  • Unlock Key Features: Make sure to complete the mission where you get the horse brush, and the one where you catch a fish with Jack to unlock fishing.
  • Get the Fence: Do the Hosea mission to unlock the Fence so you can sell stolen treasures.
  • Hunt Legendaries: Use this time to unlock all 10 ranks of Explorer Challenges and find all treasures.
  • Go Anywhere: Avoid Blackwater and New Austin (lawmen will kill you), but feel free to explore the Heartlands, Big Valley, and Lemoyne without pressure.
I also saw on Reddit about chapter 4, for those who don't care about camp life.

Currently, there's an isolated bug going on from Steam where achievements are randomly unlocking, even if requirements were never met.

We will keep your ticket on hold for now while we investigate the issue. You should expect a response within two days, if not sooner.

And somebody has already made Rockstar Support aware of it. Not sure if this is happening on the console versions.

That's strange.
I remember when completing the 100% the achievement pop-ups just before the final cutscene.

I should've archived the original Reddit post because the OP has been removed. Okay, it's back.

I think it's Steam/PC exclusive. Booting up on Xbox, nothing happens. Lucky bastards.

Just a heads up to anybody who doesn't have RDR2 and may be interested in getting it - its currently on sale for the lowest price its ever been as far as i'm aware - $12.39 CAD if you already have RDR1

I'd argue that Chapter 3 is really the best place to stop since you get the horse fence unlocked during it, the camp has a great location, you can get all the best horses (although two of those you can get in Chapter 2), and the camp is happy sans Molly and Dutch fighting every other day.

Beechers hope is kino.

They patched it, but some Reddit users are asking if those achievements could be removed from their profile. Personally, as long as there would not be any action against accounts or blocks progression, I'd consider it a freebie and continue on my day.

Redditors crying when freebies are given.
Nothing surprised.
That's what I don't get. They launched a game, some achievements unlocked outside their control, it was confirmed to be a bug, no action was/would be taken, now they're crying for whatever reason.

Isn't the white Arabian up in the Grizzlies by the lake one of those horses?

Technically yes, but that's not what I was referring to.

The ones I was referring to are:

1) Black Arabian (stolen from random encounter in Saint Denis)
2) Silver Dapple Pinto MFT (stolen via glitch from a random encounter near Face Rock. Requires sniper rifle)
3) Dark Bay Turkoman (obtained via oversight during the mission Horse Flesh for Dinner)

The first two you can get during Chapter 2, but the last one requires you to be in Chapter 3.

Trying to complete all 16 agnes dowd encounters, and still cant trigger the second kkk encounter. Annoying as hell.

brodie are you really expecting reddit of all places to make sense? are you for real?

Not trying to play devils advocate for redditors but I'd be annoyed with the achievements instantly unlocked like that tbh. It's nice to know when you complete things as a log, that's kind of one of the whole points and benefits of achievements. I played with a trainer once in GTA5 and accidentally somehow got all the cheevs and it did feel empty, and I was annoyed I did it. Surely there's a way to reset them on a game by game basis on Steam anyway?

Not quite. It’s one thing if you boot up a game as is (updates notwithstanding) and achievements start popping up under no control of the player. It’s another thing if third party software the player installed causes irregularities to the game’s code, such as unlocking achievements.

CP2077 is IMO a better game than Rockstar's two most recent offering from a gameplay perspective, but it definitely suffers from not having the infinite money and time that Rockstar is willing/able to give their games to put in all of the attention to detail they do. And the driving is also worse than GTA V, but GTA V's driving is really good.
