We honestly are more likely to see the handmaids tale/Iranian revolution vs a Maoist revolution if a revolution ever occurs here. However, thanks to capitalism the vast majority of this country is happy and making money to consume things and provide for their families so the odds of this happening are basically nil.

I can't specifically remember if this was on /r/LSC or some other commie sub, but they had a megathread about the crisis in Venezuela...and they specifically banned anyone who was actually from Venezuela from posting in it.

I hope they realize that if there is something similar to a Maoist revolution in the United States that it's gonna be rednecks doing it and these spoiled rich kids are gonna be the ones killed.

The idea the United States couldn't produce enough food for its population is incredibly stupid. During the 1930s the Roosevelt administration destroyed crops and killed livestock to stop prices being driven down by overproduction, and that was before genetic modification. Population growth was matched by the Green Revolution advancing the productivity of land.

Communists could cause a famine anyway with exceptional agricultural policies, but it wouldn't be for the reasons they gave.

The Soviets weren't very fond of their ethnic minorities either, so I'm not sure this raceless society would ever arise. The Koreans of eastern Siberia were deported to Kazakhstan in case they were Japanese spies, for instance.

That was /r/socialism.

That poster isn't wrong about ghetto people and rednecks uniting against a common enemy. They have -very- similar cultures

snitches get stitches, there's a field we can bury you in, guns, women missing teeth who can and will kick your face in, cars with extravagant tires and shitty engines, whole families living in a one bedroom place, high density of people in an area (trailer park/projects)... you can't really tell them apart until you hear the music they're listening to, see the brand of booze they're drinking, or get a glimpse of their skin color.

I think they'll eventually bring out the guillotines. I'm not even mad.

true, right now give subsidies to keep production down so that prices won't drop too much on food items...

and that subreddit has so many great train wrecks in it too.

Everyone here that's using history to say that communism wouldn't work and couldn't work in any capacity and has been known for its poor state of living and rampant racism are thinking too highly of the people who post shit like this. Thinking they should know basic knowledge about a form of government that they think is the answer to everything.

These assholes just wa t free shit and don't want to work for it.

I'm wondering if Reddit communists should get lumped together in one thread. We already have a thread on /r/shitliberalssay, and there is plenty of drama on /r/socialism and /r/anarchism.

Oh, look - just another bunch of fucking powerless current-gen beatniks who have no real idea of what they're talking about, let alone an idea of what they truly want. Especially when it isn't a free fucking handout for basic knowledge of how to use keyboards / phone keys to talk cheap shite on the internet no one smart would lend eyes to - unless you're the mainstream media around here, of course.

Yeah..... I know things aren't great in America (and haven't been for a long time, TBH) right not, but what-fucking-ever. I know I've said this before about twats like this: if such BS they want ever breaks out, they will not be on the front-lines willingly, to put shite lightly.

Good numbers - I wonder how the Communist paradises these asshats wax on-and-off about are doing in this regard (besides others, when it comes to anyrhing that's worth a damn and NOT a free handout that they crave so much...).

I've always wondered why Millennial communists are Maoists rather than Stalinists or any other subsection of communism. Is it because they think China succeeded because of (rather than despite) Mao's rule?

Do the knuckleheads on this subreddit try to explain what has happened to China post-Mao? I'd personally consider it an example of functional fascism, or if that is too loaded a term, state capitalism. Currency manipulation, something tip-toeing up to being wage slavery and so on.

Plus, if you want to look at an honest to goodness example of colonization that is going on before our eyes it is the current treatment by China of both Tibet and (especially) Xinjiang. The Uighur population of Xinjiang is down to fifty percent (and falling) as Han Chinese flood into the place.

These "left-wing" wannabes don't know shit about their own ideology except a bunch of memes, so obviously they are unaware of one of the main economic principles of Soviet socialism:

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his labour".

Also, the Criminal Code of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic, article 209, which punished social parasitism with imprisonment (up to 2 years) or mandatory community service (from 6 months to 1 year).

I'd like to tell a story about a professor I have.

One of my favorite professors in undergrad is a straight up red communist. (It's really funny because I'm mostly libertarian and we've collaborated on projects before) He does massive trips to China every year and is working with universities and the CCP to translate Beowulf directly from old English into Mandarin. He's got several collections of Mao's and Lenin's writings. He's also a former redneck, grew up in extremely rural North Carolina and started school 3 years late. His dad was an illiterate sharecropper and he grew up in a literal shack without running water. One of his stories involves his dad and the other African American sharecroppers repairing a plow. My professor is in the back corner reading and can recall the black sharecroppers telling his dad to "make sure your son don't turn into one of them [intellectual] people."

So I'm sitting in medieval lit one day. It's right after Literary Theory. (Vomits) and the gaggle of "communist" hipster faggots in the back will not shut up. Now my professor is an *extremely* nice and patient guy. I've never seen this guy get mad at his students ever. And he politely asks them to stop talking, several times. Finally the guy sitting in front of them snaps at them to "shut the hell up" before the professor snaps. they grumble under their breath and class continues.

When class was finished, I usually went to his office to eat lunch and talk about the Middle Ages. I walk in and he's cursing into his beard. I ask him what's up. His response was beautiful and hilarious. His really thick southern accent is back so I can tell he's pissed off.

"Jan I'm so sick of these self absorbed, entitled, rich cunts who think that reading the easiest passage in *Das Kapital* makes them communist." We then proceed to talk about communism for an hour and a half. We have a few laughs about the irony of using smartphones to tweet about workers oppression and the fact that they drink Starbucks, a company that barely pays the farmers a living wage.

He ends the discussion with "it also scares me a little bit, these young people don't realize that an actual workers revolution would see that they were the first ones against the wall. Hell, my pa disowned me when I told him I was getting a PhD and we didn't talk for years afterwards."

Just something I thought I'd share with you guys. His anger at having to stop class to wait for a bunch of blue haired twinks to finish talking was something that stuck with me.

*edit* I've got a few more stories about the guy if anyone's interested.

Ironically, rampant greed among the wealthy elite was one of the main selling points of the National Socialist Party in Germany in 1933. Free market capitalism inevitably leads to selfishness and instability, the cure was to have the state running everything, since the state would be incorruptible. How'd that turn out?

Communism and or Marxism fascinates me because despite the numerous failures people still want to try it out. Cuba and North Korea are pure communist countries and are utter shitholes. Laos is a joke and Vietnam became impoverished after the Vietnam war. Funnily enough they became the western imperialists they hated so much when they decided to invade Cambodia and install a puppet government. China is arguable the only communist success story but even then they adopted capitalist ideas in the 70s and 80s to stop an economic crisis. Despite that they're (ironically) shitty to their workers. My theory is it's because Marx was an "intellectual" and thus obviously never wrong about anything. It fascinates me however rebel groups think communism is the way to go despite it most likely being worse for them in the long run.

Vietnam liberalised their economy in the late 1980s under the Doi Moi policy, similarly to what China did around the same time. North Korea isn't "pure communism" either, not even referencing it in their constitution. I would say it would be better if people didn't write at length on things they hadn't researched properly, but that's not a battle worth fighting.

I did hear that vietnam did liberalize their economy, just wasn't sure when it was. I just amazed people still wanna try it out despite it not working well.

Don't think too hard about it. They see communism as a means to get free shit from the ebil rich people because they're lazy or stupid. They don't really think in the long run about why taking all the wealth from rich people and giving it to everybody else would be bad for the economy. Nor do they realize that the ones in charge of redistributing that wealth would essentially become the new elites. What I do find interesting is their hatred for the common laborer. You find the commies talking about defending minorities, women, muslims and illegal immigrants or what have you, but you'll never find them mentioning miners, farmers, factory workers unless it's to call them poor, uneducated idiots who need to be told what to do.
