One thing that always perplexes me:
So why not go be communists?
There are real, crumbling socialist states in the world right now. You can literally go to them, they're right there. These people talk nonstop about how they've suffered under capitalism, and they're clearly unhappy and want one of these socialist states they dream of. Piss off to 'em, if it's so important to you.
Shit, Laos has been a single party socialist republic for quite some time. I mean, yes, dissidents and refugees keep mysteriously disappearing while in custody of its all powerful and unrestrained military police, but if you truly believe in this idea, you can leave "ameriKKKa" behind and jolly well fuck off there today.
Paradise awaits, don't forget a malaria shot.

Because real communism hasn't happened yet. It will, if you just give us a chance...

Nah, they can rest assured, Laos is a perfect communist state functioning exactly as the idea does in practice. You have a single party government that consists of a single council of people given absolute authority, and everything is given and taken on their terms. They're even one of the last governments to directly call themselves communist.
This is their Eden, hop on in, fam.
It's like what I tell Libertarians about Somalia: you've got your unlimited personal freedom and lack of government interference right there, folks. Enjoy.

Theoretical communism is a stateless society once the dictatorship dissolves, which it never does. The dictatorship is supposed to be a transitional phase, not the eventual outcome. This is what the "real communism has never been tried" people mean.

Yeah, they seem to struggle with implementing the part where the guy with the power just voluntarily gives it up.
Funny how that goes.

A lot of these sorts of groups are just a big mixture of laziness, ignorance and ow the edge.
Partly this can be blamed on the media, which constantly saturates them with messages about how shit the world is and how it was fucked up by previous generations. Everything wrong with their lives--shit, everything bad that ever happened--is because old people screwed it up. Mix it in with the fact that these sorts of folks have always considered communism to be the cool, rebellious ideology and you get "late stage capitalism". It's literally the perfect bogeyman: the shittiness of the world is not their fault and there's nothing they can do about it because it all started hundreds of years ago. So there's no need for them to do anything to, y'know, improve their situations, they can just sit back and circlejerk while thumbing their noses at the pathetic wageslaves like the enlightened geniuses they are.

God, the "wageslave" meme is the most annoying part of this community. Slavery =/= using your labor to purchase food, shelter, and entertainment. Slavery is having no choice in what you're labor is paying for, you know, KINDA LIKE COMMUNISM.

So when they get their communist utopia who's going to keep reddit running? Who will keep the shops, restaurants, and services they enjoy operational?

THey're the left version of the sovcits/Randroids on the right. They want all the goodies from society, money, influence, infrastrcuture, food, recreational sex, etc, while not having to do any work, like, ugh, labor and taxes.

Vilifying some great entity is the only way to cover up the fact that this mindset is incredibly selfish, entitled, ignorant and, well, unworkable.

Whereas the righties distill and oversimplify it down to "Guvment is slavery" the kid commies likewise use the same arguments to prove that "Free Markets is slavery"

That's why none of these people flee to a failed state or working one that espouses their ideology, they know it's got no perks. They don't believe it at the end of the day, they just want someone to hand them stuff so they stop whining in your ear.

Is this the "alt"-left? I'd say that they might be, given how the "alt"-right are shown to be authoritarian in nature.

There's a word for these people, the ones who say Stalin was completely good- tankies.

the alt whatever is a stupid term

I can't wait for the militant centrist/alt-cent movement.

I want to join this movement. I'm just not sure what we do. Do we just sort of yell at both sides saying, like, stop doing that, man, it isn't, yanno, reasonable and stuff.

I'm going to be aggressively bland, and march under a flag that's just a wonder bread wrapper on a stick.

Think we already have that. 's called Sargon of Akkad and all those other "yeah dude i dont conform to ideology im RATIONAL" horseshoe theory youtubers. It's become an ideology on its own.
