A thought came to me earlier today.
While Greer is appealing his eviction, perhaps it is not out of an attempt to stay there, per se. In the initial complaint,
Greer had checked the box claiming he was willing to move out before the hearing date in order to avoid a conviction on his record.
What if, upon being served, he decided it was time to move on, and find another place. Only, he doesn't have a job right now, because he fucked himself out of his job at Viatron, and without a job, he can't find anyone else willing to rent to him right now. He's not appealed any of his other evictions before. What if the whole purpose of this appeal is to attempt to stall for more time, to allow him to find another place to live?
The biggest argument against this, of course, is that would take more forward thinking than Russ has exhibited in the past, but the thought occurred to me, nonetheless.
