With how retarded the UK is nowadays Valve should just stop selling to them (same with every website that the UK thought police want to censor).
I am completely in favor of Steam disabling sales and distribution in the United Kingdom permanently.

Did anyone use steam themes back before the steam UI changes which broke them? I know full theming will probably never come back but It'd be nice if you could choose between a few different ones.

It is still possible with CSSLoader. It's janky, and there isn't a lot of themes to choose from. But it works, for now. There are minor mods you can install on top too, and it has some things for Big Picture.

i miss when it was still possible to use a force vgui launch parameter to avoid using clanky chromium ui.
themes are still a thing, millennium is betterdiscord of steam client and it adds support for themes and plugins. just like betterdiscord, it can shit itself and magically vanish after random steam update.

So I'm sure some of you have heard of the game "People Playground", it's a 2d sandbox game where you build contraptions and similar things. Very reminiscent of flash games like "Mutilate a Doll".
Update to this: The Workshop is back now, The Dev is also going to bring on moderators for the workshop and keep a closer eye on it themselves, and that type of virus shouldn't even work anymore with changes to have mods load and work.

this lunatic has been uploading a new game nearly every week for like 2 years now

It costs what? $100 to gabe everytime you upload one?

What’s the general consensus of Steam and all the lawsuits coming out the woodwork because of gAmBlInG? Will Steam bend the knee or suffer inshittification due to a thousand lawsuits?
The black women is retarded and ruined any chance of swaying public opinion by adding in the "violent games cause people to become violent" shit. At most they will just bite the cost of the lawsuit and do what they are already doing, moving away from cases in exchange for a battle pass and a weekly terminal.

There’s a second lawsuit, this time in Washington State

It seems that Valve hasn't addressed it officially, so I've been reading some articles, and the lawsuit alleges that Valve used psychological tactics to manipulate people, including children, into gambling all their money on loot boxes through a system deliberately designed with "slot machine-like imagery" to offer the same experience as a casino.

The lawsuit alleges that this is an illegal form of gambling in the state of Washington.

The law firm said "rather than protect young players through age verification or a parental consent mechanism, we believe they rigged the game to extract more money from them" and "Valve may have profited from illegal gambling".

Not the best sources, but here are the articles from Polygon, PC Gamer, Yahoo and GamingOnLinux. This one on Businesswire is also good.

I wouldn't mind total loot box death, But I really don't know how legal all this is in the US. Can anyone fill me in?

If this were twenty or thirty years ago these lawsuits might have worked. But every television and radio station in the United States runs nothing but gambling advertisements. Sports talk shows feature nothing but gambling odds. People are gambling on the war in Iran. Unless the courts are willing to start dealing with gambling and society as a whole they will likely dismiss the lawsuits. If they stop loot boxes it sets a precedent for trading cards or Magic the Gather packs having random cards in them based on artificial scarcity.

Also some of the lawyers and politicians going after Steam and Valve are just grandstanding. They are making noise about other unrelated issues like violence in gaming or gun promotion in video games. These kind of hysterics usually means that the lawyers have more of an agenda of getting their names in the media for purposes other than winning a lawsuit. So far this hasn't looked like a serious attempt of going after lootboxes and gambling practices at Valve or Steam.

Worst care scenario for Valve is that they must label games as having 'gambling mechanics' and have warning labels like sports betting sites or cigarette cartons. No chance that they will have to eat massive fines or see jail time. Or restructure the company around no longer being able to promote loot boxes to children so that Gabe can have an armada of yachts. It wouldn't make sense for the government to stop Steam games from having gambling with real money when people can gamble on literally anything on hundreds of different websites using their phones.

What's up with this British association suing Valve for music used in games they didn't develop?

The articles mention that the Performing Right Society (PRS) is suing Valve for the illegal use of their members' music in games like EA SPORTS FC, Forza Horizon, and Grand Theft Auto, none of which were developed by Valve...
Another shake down from a music organization. Color me shocked.

Valve needs to ban all third party trading websites or one of these days a lawsuit will win agasint them. They are to scared to do this becasue this would truly killed the CS market.
