Some old footage of me and my kot. RIP Garfield and Cats.

My cat actually responded to cat because me and my dad fucked his name up when he was a kitten after a while by jokingly calling him CAT lol. Other names were Mr. Meowgy, and Shoulder Cat.

Why do cats chew up boxes? Mine is currently chowing down on a box. He will chew huge holes in them.

I think they just like how it feels. Or enjoy the destruction. One of mine used to chew on all the mail when she was young. Had to keep important bills hidden. And the older one obsessively licks any plastic packaging.

I think all cats have just a little bit of 'tism.

Have you ever watched a cat just sink their fangs into the taut outer layer of corrugated cardboard, and you can hear an audible cronch as it punches holes just like a train conductor punching a ticket?

I think they like how it feels, and then they like tearing it apart. Some cats just rub their cheeks on the corners of a box and start chewing there, or not at all.

Whenever I get a cardboard box that I'm not going to reuse, I let the cat check it out first. Some boxes have to be destroyed, some boxes have to be sat in, and some boxes are boring, but I'm just not the best judge. Gotta let the cat decide.

Fellow hiveminders please pray for my cat; we have had a very trying evening.
She hadn't gone poop in a few days, despite giving her laxatives (as directed by her usual vet), so we took her to the clinic. The usual vet we see wasn't available and the one on duty is one we do not like. We had to take her out of the crate and put her on the scale during the initial examination because the vet didn't want to handle her. My cat can be rather feisty and this vet seemed to be afraid of her. After they took her in the back to take x-rays they determined she needed an enema and, after claiming that no one could handle her, administered anesthesia to do so. According to the vet: the tech that was administering it got "over zealous" and gave her too much causing her to go into a seizure. They were able to pull her out but she's still very groggy and lethargic. To say I am livid is an understatement. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

It'll all be okay, buddy.

There is a really good chance it was ketamine, and seizure is a risk with ketamine, it can happen in humans as well. As long as they got it under control quickly she should be ok with no lasting consequences, other than them pissing you off and making you upset and worried. There is a good chance that if they used something to terminate the seizure then the grogginess and lethargy that you are seeing is a result of that and any remaining sedation, most of the medications they use to terminate a seizure are ones that slow neural conduction or response, so they typically have sedative properties. If so, you'll probably want to keep her in a darkened, quiet, comfortable, warm (since anesthesia can lower body temperature), low stress environment if possible for about 24 hours, letting her sleep and rest as much as she wants but making sure she is eating, drinking, using the litter box as usual. After 24 hours or so you should see her back to her usual self. If you don't, then follow up with the vet immediately.
