I think what it comes down to is that a lot of human learning is time-sensitive. Too many kids are not exposed to reading when they ought to and then, when they're older and that time window has passed, they struggle. I don't disagree that dyslexia gets diagnosed to cover for bad parenting, bad schooling, and general laziness, and the overall diagnosis for dyslexia is loose (likely on purpose for reasons of money), but some people do seem to struggle with reading and/or spelling beyond bullshit excuses. Gavin probably sucked at reading and coasted his whole life because he's wealthy.
