I don't think there's much research on therians specifically, but let's see if we can figure out the connection by looking at the nearby furry community.

I was randomly talking to her about stuff awhile back. and I mentioned someone being cisgender as it was a conversation involving people of a variety of gender expressions.
And she got all weird about "cis"

I pretty much brushed it off then as her just not knowing. So I explained the whole thing to her. Explained that I don't use it all the time for every cis person, just in conversations where clarity is important.

Then a couple days ago, my computer happened to be on a post by a trans woman asking about experiences that other trans women have experienced or learned that is something they view as a positive that a cis person might never understand.

And she read the post in a mocking voice. And then when I called her out on that, she said she just didn't like the word cis, when I asked her to clarify that, she hemmed and hawed for a bit and then said it was basically like how some people don't like the word "moist"

I basically communicated to her "BS" and went and did other things.

But I can't stop thinking about it after 3 days.

There was a stretch there where I would have been homeless without her. She has materially supported my transition.

But there keep being little things that just look and smell like transphobia.

The fact that she actively fear mongers bottom surgery.

I'm predicting this relationship will not last.

Her entire behaviour, and her dislike of the word cis, are clear, damning signs of bad transphobia. Fearmongering bottom surgery is just an extra layer on it.

Also, her excuse that it is like the word moist, is just that, an excuse. her dislike is because she is being labelled, which is very common in bigotted people as they tend to have a strong internal idea of "i am normal, label people are not". Basically, she feels that she is not being placed above trans women linguistically and is lashing out.

You should strongly consider if she is a safe partner to be with,
this is most likely not even the biggest parts of her bigotry if you unpack the situation.

The highlighted bit is my advice to the real woman in this couple.

It’s something I am seeing A LOT recently. It’s not just the fact that people like this exist, it’s that they make a point to make sure others know.

I always wonder about that too when I see pictures of Tony & Zach. Just doing the voice and hands must be exhausting, I'm sure they turn it on/off at times of the day. This guy was involved in the Chuggaaconroy shit I remember that.
