lol I cannot fathom living anywhere that would tolerate such behavior. Where I live, silently drawing my (loaded) 9mm from my center console with a pleading "please give me a reason" expression on my face would be a perfectly reasonable (almost expected) response to being accosted by a "citizen roadblock" demanding photo ID.

What in the actual fuck? Why would the local police tolerate their citizens doing that for any purpose? That is literally "unlawful detention and arrest" and "impersonating police" and any number of other offenses of the "pretending to have power of the sort the local government really thinks only it should have" variety. That kind of shit normally offends any government, left or right.
