There are STILL Nintendo fanboys who insist that Amiibos are NOT a rip-off while claiming any form of DLC is the most immoral scan ever.

Going by the thumbnail alone, Vivian isn't really that special compared to the rest of the Paper Mario cast. I'd honestly just settle for the Rawk Hawk over any of the other partners for this if you held a gun too my head

The problem is Nintendo doesn't give a flying fuck about the RPGs in Party/Kart/Sports, I'm more likely to be crowned king of Saudi Arabia than seeing Geno, Fawful or Dimentio in a mainline Mario Kart.

Well, there's a lot of dudes on 4chan who have him as their waifu (male).

Though really, a lot of the Mario RPG characters are cool and liked enough that I don't see why not add them to the Mario Kart roster. I mean, they getting close to scraping the bottom of the barrel for characters as it is, with all the random generic enemies and recolors. But if a Youtuber is singling out Vivian in particularly as a character that just MUST be added, then I would automatically assume it's only for tranny politics reasons.

Vivs is still probably the most popular Paper Mario partner of all time, so yeah probably.

I guess they still wanna keep their aganda of Paper Mario only starring the mainline charaters with no OCs, which is kind of a shame really. We had it so good when Mario Party 5 used the Paper Mario 64 Star Sprites, and now we have pretty much nothing unless it's a remake.

I actually believe the Mario & Luigi characters have a bigger chance to get in before the Paper Mario ones, and even then, they probably would rather put Queen Bee from Galaxy again over having to deal with any of the spin-offs.

Nintendo has been strict on the Mario IP ever since the failure of the GC. Entries like Sunshine, while loved now, were hated for their bizarre changes and differences for the longest time. Nintendo also struggled marketing Mario as there wasn’t a set base for what the IP was given the wide variety Mario indulged in. It was truly a creative peak, but that also left the series without a proper through line to hook casuals in.

New Super Mario Bros became the through line, bringing Mario back to his roots in 2D games, but also placing a strict emphasis on how the series is defined by things like the Mega-Mushroom, Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Star, etc…

Nintendo wants to minimize risk with the IP which is why it is so vanilla. The more outlandish they go, the more they lose the core identity and what to market on. They don’t want to end up with the Rayman issue where every game is so wildly different in tone and content that there isn’t anything tangible to hold it together and bring in new viewers.

RPG characters are typically 1-and-done, they mean nothing to the IP at large, so no point cluttering up a roster with those characters. Side series are also pointless since they don’t crossover into one-another or the main series in significant ways. DK is the only one that gets a pass because of its massive success since the SNES, plus DK being in a weird not Mario, but Mario state, where he really isn’t connected to the IP at all past the origin (and now Movie/Bananza). If they didn’t add Diddy, DK wouldn’t have a partner because he doesn’t appear in any games. Wouldn’t even bother saying much on Yoshi as it is just Baby characters only added as filler and for women appeal.
