they played nice because for most of that time europe was the main front line of the cold war, us troops and soviet troops were staring each other down over the inner german border.
the 'useless freeloaders' era only started when the ussr fell in 1990, and only really went into full force in the 2000s when nato had absorbed most of eastern europe and the western eu states were in full demilitarisation mode

Earlier this year, the woman, Keinah Fort, went to court asking for an order of protection against Fishback. She said he “initiated a romantic relationship” with her in spring 2022 — and directed her to keep it a secret — when, she said, he was 27 and she was 17 and working for his group Incubate Debate. Fishback founded the organization in 2019, partnering with school districts in Florida to build debate programs for middle and high school students.

Fort said in court records that they lived together and were briefly engaged after she turned 18. During that time, Fishback lost his temper and threw things at her “on multiple occasions,” according to the court filings, which were first reported by Florida Politics.

Fishback, in response, claimed that Fort suffered from mental health issues that predated their relationship and presented evidence that he said showed she wanted to “rekindle” their relationship as recently as December 2024. He also claimed that she was going after him and Incubate Debate after she worked for a competing organization. Fishback has denied wrongdoing.

The best defense that Fishback has is that she was 18 when they were in a relationship which is still questionable because they met at a school activity that he organized and led.

The allegations were enough to have one school district bar him:

The Broward County School District said that when it was made aware of the allegations outlined in Moore’s 2022 email, it cut ties with Fishback and his organization.

“Shortly after receiving concerns from that parent via email, we ended his volunteer work,” John Sullivan, the district’s chief of staff, told NBC News.

Fishback said it was “unclear” to him what Broward was referring to.

“We have never had any ties, contracts, or financial relationships with the Broward County School District and never will,” he said in a statement. “Broward has pushed DEI, transgenderism, and radical left-wing ideology on our kids. As Governor, I will use my authority under Article IV, Section 7 of the Florida Constitution to remove Broward School Board Members who violate the public trust.”

He obscured the allegations from his organization:

The allegations concerned Nicole Castillo, an Incubate Debate advisory board member who resigned in February 2023. In her resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, she said that the allegations were “alarming” and that she was frustrated that Fishback made no mention of them to the board.

“Regardless of the veracity of these allegations, the underlying Incubate-sanctioned practices should raise alarms,” she wrote. “Leading an organization that serves minor children requires a level of caution, care, and maturity that is woefully absent from how this organization currently operates. There is no excuse for blurring the lines of appropriate conduct.”

Castillo did not respond to a request seeking comment.

She said in her resignation letter that Incubate Debate lost a venue for one of its tournaments because of the allegations.

“Not once did James disclose to me the true reason the venue fell through — that school administrators were informed of the sexual allegations and prohibited Incubate from operating on their campus,” she wrote.

In a lengthy email after Castillo’s resignation to a handful of people who worked with Incubate Debate, which was viewed by NBC News, Fishback acknowledged that he should have disclosed the allegations while insisting there was “not a shred of truth” to them.

He claimed that the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department was investigating Moore for her “false report.” NBC News sent the Fishback email to the sheriff’s office and asked for any records that may be related to the complaint. A spokesperson for the department told NBC News on Friday that it was “unable to locate any records relating to James Fishback.”

I have to sign up for Selective Service at 18, big mama. That's an obligation to our country that helps keep enemies at bay. Nobody suggested I personally died in the wars that gave us rights. I disagree to a point about this being a function of Christianity and more of a product of Minnesotans. Remember the gunman what attacked the church of Christ in White Settlement, TX, in 2019? A 71-year-old armed congregant took the gunman out (sadly, after the shotgun-wielding maniac killed two people).

If that gunman had gone to that St. Paul church, everyone there would have been dead because a) of Minnesota gun laws, but also b) the suicidal niceness of normie Minnesotans.
