So far, no-one has mentioned an obvious point: that there are ((certain parties)) interested in having lunatics in charge of media to ensure that sheeple stay docile, which is why the same type of people is the one that keep falling upward.
Some producers realize how the death cult is a waste of money and that's why they're looking towards AI to replace these one-note ponies.

Fortunately the videogame (and media) industry is going to crash at some point at this rate due to the escalating costs and time involved.

Belated reply, but one of my all time favorite books is mostly written in 1st person and takes advantage of that view point's limitations to fuck with the reader and subtly characterize the MC.

Worm by Wildbow. It's a free web serial that starts as a really meticulous and grounded reimagining of superheroes and ends as a cosmic horror story. From a nuts and bolts perspective I'd say the story's main feature is the way it uses 1st person perspective to intentionally limit the reader's perspective and then throw you subtle reveals when you occasionally get a chapter that's from the perspective of a different character.

Being a web serial and not an edited novel it isn't perfect, but the author does an unbelievable job making it all feel cohesive despite writing it partially on the fly. It helps he brainstormed the lore for years before actually writing it. Anyway we're getting offtopic, but I thought it fitting to bring up here because it's a story written almost entirely from 1st person and it wouldn't work half as well if it was standard 3rd person limited. Even being 1st person, I think the narcissist zoomers would struggle with it because Taylor is such a strongly defined character. You can't really insert into her because she has strong opinions and preferences and brings them up in her narration too regularly for the illusion that she is her own person to ever slip.

No, that's just what it gets misinterpreted as by people who haven't read it. It's also much older than The Boys. If anything The Boys is doing Worm poorly.

Either way, SB/SV and TVTropes love this one to the point of exhaustion. They had to make a special category for Worm shit as to not clutter the boards.

It became popular with WH40k's increasingly derpy works and late Codexes, and it applies to Worm, I believe. There was a sequel of Worm that goes into full derpy territory, and allegedly the author is petty enough to retroactively edit his works to make them worse, or so SB says.

He hasn't actually edited anything afaik, but large portions of Ward are dedicated to shooting down theories and interpretations Wildbow doesn't like, to the point of character assassination. We don't talk about Ward.

Yes, it's an insanely productive fandom for better or worse. Often worse because an embarrassing number of fanfic authors don't read canon Worm and spread non-canon BS and straight up wrong information.

This would imply Worm is just dark to be dark. It's too well thought out for that. And I think it's a bit misleading to compare it to 40k. The prospects of Earth Bet are pretty dire at canon start, but the setting isn't hopeless. I'd call it more Nobledark, which is a very terminally online thing to say.

The sequel could be a different story (I haven't read it), but Worm on its own isn't a Joss Whedon soyfest or anything. I wouldn't have read the whole thing if it was lol
 
The Worm fandom was infected pretty early on by an offshoot of that wacky Yudkowsky rationalist cult because Wildbow accidentally created a sandbox for power sperging to flourish unchecked, although most of those folk have probably moved on to something newer at this point.

I was surprised how staunchly traditionalist Frieren is as a series. The Japs have been fucked over by both NGOs and payment networks lately, so there will be more openly anti-globohomo works in the future. A lot of popular media in the west (Undertale, Steven Universe etc.) earnestly tries to molest its audience, thus it is worthwhile for anime to serve as a viable alternative to the beanmouth milieu. Anime is generally more resistant to subversion because the visual language affirms that beauty is morally good. But the best defense is simply that young men like it. "Young men enjoy this" MUST become a shield wall wherever it is true or nothing will get better. Too many male interests have already been made brown and gay and unpleasant.

AI is terrifying for leftists and has been since Microsoft Tay in 2016. Leftists are extremely feminine in their social behaviors, and you can't bully or socially pressure a robot for saying nigger. I have been interested in Frierien ever since I watched soy-faggot Lextoriass get dunked on for his retarded takes on it. It makes me truly question my anime choices since I find Frierien's philosphies more intriging and in line with what I like. One Piece feels way too universalist at times which is why it became so massively popular.

I know this is a retard take but I genuinely regret becoming "The One Piece guy." I hate that I am into a typical universalist shounen slop that is liked by the biggist leftoid streamer lolcow. It's fans are insuferable as well. I feel the same about The Simpsons. This is to not to say everything about them is wrong or bad, but the fact that you have libtards cry about Frierien while praise One Piece says alot.
