Something I think would also be worth a dedicated write up in a thread like this. Fanfiction.
It's a dirty open secret of mine, too, and I 100% agree it's become a problem. There's a lot of factors that went into it, though, everything from our abysmal education system to the lack of interpersonal relationships leading to the fujoshi plague, to echochambers where the "don't like, don't read" mantra led to stagnation to the point we have fucking trigger warnings in published works now.

Finding Patient Zero may be impossible at this point, I'm actually wondering if Cassandra Clare even was the catalyst (although she's a mistake no matter what).

Wasn't that the early fics of Star Trek in the 70s? Add to that the early furries and underground magazines with edgy content, which, while not necessarily bad by themselves, add up.
Could be, but it sounds like those fics never left the fanzine. Now did any of those authors publish professionally afterwards? Does anyone know who those authors are?

I've always had a burning disgust towards fanfiction writers and shippers for their often sick obsession of seeing something sexual or romantic between two incompatible characters where there is nothing of it , specially if they are of the same sex also often fetishizing queer relationships, case in point how they managed to will korasami into a real thing

Since 2016 with Trump's victory, leftards got increasingly deranged, which is why the shameless takeover got more and more obvious. These days, ever since Kirk's murder, they have gone full psycho and don't bother dialing down anymore, being on the war-path 24/7, and even encouraging others to fight your own damn family if they happen to have the "wrong" political opinions (or stay neutral, as that's no longer an option).
I wonder how long the industry of the near future will last like that before a massive correction happens.
Hell, even Metroid Prime 4 has the same hideous "Marvel humor" that no-one likes, because the main writer is part of the death-cult.

We're currently in the grip of a narcissism epidemic, and the fanfic community certainly fosters that with its (near) absolute commitment towards pleasing the reader in every conceivable way and sanding the edges off of fucking everything. At its worst you'll see kids these days who can't read anything that isn't in 1st person because they are mentally incapable of projecting outside their own point of view, which is INSANE to me because not a decade ago 1st person perspective in serious literary circles was a borderline punchline.

The fanfic community is huge and ancient by internet standards, it's a fools errand trying to narrow it down to a single origin point. I will say the psychotic turbo degenerate alphabet people are not the entire community. They're loud and scandelous so they get all of the outside attention, but there is a community of normal non-horny straight people just trying to write cool stories. It's a thankless hobby, but we absolutely exist. It helps a lot if you get away from AO3, the modern defacto fanfic hub or get into series that are somewhat insulated from degeneracy.
Now did any of those authors publish professionally afterwards? Does anyone know who those authors are?
They absolutely did. The publishing arm of the Star Trek franchise used the fanfic community as a talent farm, very often letting popular authors polish up their work into the legion of Trek tie in novels. In the modern day this happens far more often than most people realize. A lot of popular romance novels like Fifty Shades of Grey or Wicked, or the BookTok slop of today are fanfics with the names swapped around so the fics could get published as stand alone novels. Fifty Shades being the most famous case of this, which was originally a popular Twilight fanfic called Masters of the Universe. The growth of AO3 over the last decade and the rise of BookTok has caused this mass infestation combined with the aforementioned narcissism epidemic has led to a generation of readers who only know how to consume fiction in this hyper specific, degenerate, self congratulatory way.
I've had a hateboner for this shit all my life. A good fanfic works with existing characters and tries to potray them faithfully in new or interesting scenarios canon can't or won't. Writing them in name only to use as pieces for your gay degenerate jerk off fantasy is the peak of disrespect towards the original work.
Hell, even Metroid Prime 4 has the same hideous "Marvel humor" that no-one likes, because the main writer is part of the death-cult.
Man this has been the biggest black pill this year. Given that the Prime branch of the franchise is made in America I suppose I shouldn't be surprised the Marxist agitators could reach it.

Sad thing is there are good pre-Twilight first-person books out there written by people who understood the limitations but also understood the main character was their own person. Thanks to Twilight, first-person now just means "self-insert empty canvas" and thus the narrative (and the MC) stops being coherent and just acts as a vessel for the reader to imagine themselves as. This is likely why we currently have an issue with "representation" because #OwnVoices bitches cannot "feel seen" otherwise.

They absolutely did. The publishing arm of the Star Trek franchise used the fanfic community as a talent farm, very often letting popular authors polish up their work into the legion of Trek tie in novels.
So are you saying that Kirk/Spock actually is considered canon in some alternate universe in-series?
:stress:

Hell, even Metroid Prime 4 has the same hideous "Marvel humor" that no-one likes, because the main writer is part of the death-cult.

Unless there's something I don't know about yet, what makes the whole situation surrounding Prime 4's writing interesting to me is that it stands to represent the ever-present problem with "Millennial writing", even when wokeness is taken out of the picture.

With a lot of major AAA games released in the late 2010s/early 2020s, having writing that's woke and writing that could be considered "Millennial" or "Reddit" often went hand-in-hand. If you see the former, it's only inevitable that you'll also see the latter, or vice versa. Prominent examples being games like Saint's Row 2022, God of War: Ragnarok, or Forspoken. Prime 4, FWIK, isn't "woke" per say, but it still has Millennial or "Reddit" writing in it (especially with Myles in particular), and part of that can be blamed on there really being no one in the room to point it out so they could course correct, or anything to that effect.

While Millennials are the "woke" generation, and plenty of them are aspiring marxists, when you take that away, you still have a separate, but still large, elephant in the room; that they can't write for crap, or that they rely too hard on basing their character dialogue off of all the things they read on social media, for example.

The recent "AAA Mario" meme shines an even greater light on this issue, with how monotonous dialogue in AAA games, by and large, tends to be:

God damn, what a shit show! This is just too good, imagining if Mario were an AAA game. We call this the "Avengers" or "Marvel" level dialogue of the type "Whoa, THAT just happened!"
While AAA games were trying to go with some level of seriousness of "You are just another soldier, thrust in this mission". But that is more fitting for a movie than a video game. It was a sign that "movie-videogames" were coming.

Hoo boy. Can't believe it's over, you guys (specially OP) have given me a lot to reply to. I read the last case (without videos at first) while listening to -45's Amrita album, and some parts fit scarily well, the read ended on "The Girls' Witch Hunt" (again, fitting). Nothing shell-shocked me quite as hard as learning Sugar was besties with Shmorky or Toby popularized enbieism (or that soundclown was downstream from the tumblr funnymen), but hearing "Games Repainted" alone unlocked a ton of memories.
Headed up by Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune, Capcom released many games with a more grungy, “western” feel in the late 6th generation, and all throughout the 7th generation, with infamous games like Devil Kings, Final Fight: Streetwise, 2009’s Bionic Commando reboot, and the most infamous one of all, Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry.
You now remember Bomberman: Act Zero. Also, Devil Kings is actually a 4kids-esque localization of Sengoku BASARA 1, part of a series which suffered such a dropoff in quality, so many plagiarism accusations and the leadership of such a creepy and immature director it died and only hardcore fanboys and fujoshi were left as fans. This is japanese fandom stuff but unlike the Musou (Dynasty/Samurai Warriors) series which strived for accuracy and left the silly what-ifs for DLCs, BASARA took more liberties with the writing and designs (like twinkified Ieyasu), was crazier and more colorful, and was basically Japanese Warlord RPF, hence the fanbase being that way. This funnily had the side effect of fans thinking the series was historically accurate.
The GameCube’s Vindication & the Dolphin Emulator
So basically, the 'cube is fucking cursed, and any reference to it should be regarded as a red flag.

Case II goes in depth on how tendie band kids built up echo chambers where their console was king. Judging by what happened there, we should pray Nintendo never has a bad year again. Unfortunately, it seems nobody fucking likes the Switch 2, it has no games, and Nintendo nowadays is known for C&Ding fangames, so for every Pokeslop consoomer you've got disillusioned fans saying pirating from them is morally correct, and looking for alternatives in other platforms. Keep an eye open because this is how Undertale became the game that prevented nintoddlers across the globe from acking out of pure demoralization. (and I too, second the opinion that I wasn't expecting Paper Mario to be at the center of the madness.)
An indie 3D platformer that was in development during this period, A Hat in Time, took heavy inspiration from TTYD. The game’s director, Jonas Kaerlev, cited multiple GameCube-era games, such as TTYD, as his main influences when it came to the games he’s made, and it shows. One of A Hat in Time’s first bosses directly borrows from the Chapter 5 fight against Lord Crump.
Hey, you know what other game its staff was involved in? Just a certain Gamecube era-inspired collect-a-thon with a young androgynous protagonist...
You also now remember the tranny flag in that one Hat in Time DLC
So, why bring all this up? Well, the story of Games Repainted is the story of an underground friend group that started out as being edgy, using 4chan-inspired humor and memes in their work, in spite of their community being Tumblr-based, only to then be ratted out from the inside and be among the first sufferers of censorship and Troll’s Remorse in a post-LoveWins world, on top of them being among the first major communities to have a presence on Discord and helping set the precedent for the app’s userbase. All in all, acting as a bridge from the “Old Internet” to the “New Internet”.
To think this happened to pretty much everything. I was going to mention, I was surprised by most of the key players covered ITT being male, but I guess they either lead the charge as lots of women elevated them, or, as shown here, were the modern subversives Antonio Gramsci instructed between the lines. DA SJWWWWWWWS could be laughed at and foolishly underestimated from a distance, but that vaguely leftist guy in your friend group was busy making sure you could never say no to him or them ever again, and that's more dangerous than the out-and-open enemy.

Maybe "The Tumblr Files" was a bit of a misnomer, as it implies a broader focus what with all the requests you got. You guys say "Tumblr culture" and I think about what led to thomas jefferson miku binder and furry bakudeku miscarriage being created. This is more like "the retro gaming tumblr files" or "the youchew files", but I get it, this is the sphere of influence our protagonists Toby Fox and (to a lesser extent) Rebecca Sugar moved in, and is also your field of expertise. Besides, those names don't have as nice of a ring to it, hehe.
Gay Purple Man
So this guy built himself on the back of /v/ culture, even engaging in average 4pedo activities, just to turn around and become the prototype of the archetypical discord faggot, shill the good person game and then try to fuck Vinny over through falsehoods? This is the average old 4troon e-celeb in a nutshell. Let me tell you this: tripfags have always, ALWAYS been the weakest link. It takes a special kind of narcissist to go to an anonymous website, take a identity function meant to keep track of an OP and their projects, and use to bring attention to yourself by virtue of your name alone while having NOTHING to offer (wasn't SuperYoshi one of them too?). No wonder these guys were the first to sell out to social media and its culture. This is also why /tttt/ has by far the highest tripfag-to-anon ratio of all boards.

There was this last time post-transition to the new net this image would be relevant, around 2017.

Nazi swastikas were allowed, initially. However, when the completed “Director’s Cut” of TTYD repainted was released, all Swastika, Nazi, and other “problematic” textures were thrown into their own folder, with replacement textures for them being included in the base folder. This was the fault of someone I’ll get into later.
While a Swastika was in the initial version of the repaint, being used as the symbol for the “Fight” command, it had to be taken out, with any instances of it in the first part being censored with a picture of Damien in uploads of the first stream of it.
>IS THAT... A CRUDELY DRAWN SWASTIKA???? IN THE TOILET-TIER HUMOR HACK???!?!
>AIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE HELP ME LUFFY I'M BEING RADICALIZED!! I'M SLIDING DOWN THE PIPE LINE!!!!1!
>hammer and sickles are a-okay though

In the vast word of the Internet, with all its eCelebs and funnymen, Vinny is the one guy who refuses to play Undertale (and by extension, Deltarune), to this very day.

Here, VGFM went out of his way to pretty much grill SA2.

And just like referencing MGSV, in 2015 it was considered the pinnacle of comedy. Millennial meta cynicism is such a fucking cancer.
People also talked about wanting to kill themselves. A lot.
It was 2016, so the general vibes that persisted in the chat revolved around cynicism, being LGBT, and making fun of drama that was happening online at the time, (...).You had what was essentially a mixture of kids and teens congregating in a then-new communication application, as their culture began to devolve into madness.
This is just every dicksword server ever, so this was the first big one, huh?
As it just so happens, Albert also had a giantess fetish and commissioned a few pieces of artwork showcasing it.
lol. lmao. this world is their spergatory and we live in it
Gremlin D.Va
This was so annoying, tumblrinas sure loved their gremlins, like post-introduction Peridot. Pure quirk chungus millennial humor
Any time Blizzard found themselves in hot water due to company politics, workplace harassment, or other issues, all they had to do to get on the good side of the gaming press was out-of-the-blue confirm that a character in Overwatch, or any of their other games, was secretly some flavor of LGBT the whole time, or introduce a new LGBT character.
Like dangling keys in front of a kid. These same people fell for rainbow capitalism, had a fallout with it, and now want it back because it "meant they were winning".
Eventually, something was bound to break…
Orange man? You mean the thing that only emboldened them? It's like they're primed for victory no matter what.
Exquisite breakdown of the cancer that was Tumblr. I fear it's death unleashed a plague similar to that of the T-virus in Resident Evil.
It seems like most the cancerous tumors have Ghetto'd themselves into isolated sties like BlueSky (who I have noticed all talk in a similarly tumbr fashion).
It really did. And the oldtroons did that, like daiz and all those trannylators living in japan who all know each other. But the younger guard still have a grip on the centralized clear net. Even after "musk's fascist takeover (a.k.a. letting the evil people also talk)", every 100k+ like omg hit tweet is just fangirls promoting horrible far-left shit, and sometimes talking about their common fangirl experiences like browsing Pinterest. Tiktok is the same people giving out the same horrid takes with their real faces, actual chinese commies amplifying their enemies' homegrown gay race commies to destablize them. I do my part taking importance away from these sites and people, and denouncing the botting, the problem is it feels like nobody else does. We as a society need to stop pretending this tiny group of "intellectuals" represent reality in any way, if anything the embody the opposite of reality. We should not have every celebrity and politician in the same compromised room either, but here we are.

I'm past giving the benefit of the doubt. I regard anyone telling me X is braniggerland only now as someone working with the enemy, just like all those people telling you to your face that "tumblr is dead" while having you play by its users' rules.
When the Gen X people who hated Adventure/Modern Sonic gave up and moved on, they pretty much let the Millenial leftists run roughshod, and that's what led to people like (...) Jhett eventually became political soapboxers.
Jhett is such a massive faggot, holy shit. Him and every meme voice actor.
This video seems "based" until you realize its target audience is male trannies seeing fangirls' more absurd beliefs as a threat to their hegemony. "Nooo stop, dreamgender is too dumb to coerce normies into our every whim, dial it back to puppygirl female/male/NB"
This would be an interesting case study for sure, though I don't know how much information there is on the people who kickstarted this back in ye olden days. Like what happened to all of those Spock/Kirk writers who submitted their smut to Trekkie fanzines? Where did Cori Falls disappear to? What happened to the author behind "Agony in Pink"? Or "ChibiUsa's Seventh Birthday"? Or that "Pokémon Story" with the Gardevoir? Like how many of these badfic writers are still around? Why did the Citrus Scale become obsolete? Is the history teacher behind "Back to the Frollo" dead or not? Is Farla a hack? Is there more to the MsScribe story?
I'm sure you're aware of Fanlore. For those who aren't, it's a wiki covering ancient (and some more recent) fandom drama, mostly from the writing scene, run by 40 y/o she/theys who see the sjwfication as a good thing. Speaking of which, Racefail '09 is though of as this cataclysmic event, the first time idpol and fandom were mixed, but the language they readily used, and similar racebaiting sentiments almost happening years earlier, show it wasn't a matter of if, but when would these people weaponize what they were taught in college in other aspects of their lives.
Fhflyersmw-9.jpg
also all this old fantard slang is so cringe how did anyone stomach talking like this
There is a certain level of normalization which comes from seeing things portrayed as normal, such as in Steven Universe, but an entirely greater level of normalization which comes from forcing people to engage with their own actions, or in other words the crossdressing in BotW is directly responsible for a large amount of "egg cracking".
Is it really? See, this is where I put an emphasis on who this is happening to (amerilards) and when (post-current year). Did the crossdressing mission in FFVII cause something similar? Of course not, at least not in such a big scale in comparison.
With the sudden government mandated shut in NEET lifestyle, there was fertile, blood-soaked ground for V-tubers to take hold, for paraphiliacs of all varieties, especially troons, to sink their teeth into the online feeds of normies and children
Though I believe this, the lockdowns forcing everyone into troons' domain, was 100% deliberate, this is my tinfoil and nobody will take it away from me.
The main reason I didn't cover them is because they didn't really catch that much steam inside the specific Tumblr bubble
Retro gaming tumblr? Because the larger site, specially the fujos, loved Attack on Titan. Everyone did in 2013, the OP alone instantly turned normies' heads. Some oldfags even stuck with the manga to the bitter end.
I've only seen MtFs talk about how the series is one big "fascist dogwhistle", they're the ones how have the most to say about nazis, as we all know.
He released the video I'm assuming you're talking about. Just finished watching it, and yes, it definitely has a lefty bias.
How do you do that to a video about Something Awful? All that site is known for nowadays is being the holy capitol of troll's remorse and birthplace of reddit jannies. He even says dril a.k.a. King Irony Leftist and the rest of "weird twitter" came from there. The answer is this video is actually about 8chan and he's just going further back.
This terrible short about Netflix Tomb Raider Season 2 might explain why IDW Sonic has crying lesbians. It seems to be common in the woke crowd.
I'm putting a pin on this term, it'll be relevant later.
This is likely why we currently have an issue with "representation" because #OwnVoices bitches cannot "feel seen" otherwise.
It is the height of entitlement to demand the most vapid of representation, that characters you have nothing to do with look 100% just like you. You know what well-adjusted people do? They relate to characters' personalities!!!!!! I'd dare call this a sign of low empathy too.
2025 is eighty years removed from postwar ideology. This is important because no ideology lasts longer than eighty years.
While discussions about how this stuff stems back to post WWII ideology/colleges/etc. is neat and all, I feel it would be a better fit for its own thread.
Then I'll just say this: one thing I'm looking forward to is the collapse of the post-WW2 order. Not because it says "nazis bad", but because it says "commies good" and it's their most powerful weapon.

Leftists are the masters of PR, i'll admit. They decide what's acceptable to talk about and when (such as Zionism), they've claimed monopoly on being a good person, they take over and gatekeep spaces by claiming the moral high ground in spite of their vile actions
>how can y'all be [literally anything] fans and be [wrongthinkers] omg
and retcon things they created or control as rightist when they get a bad image. Nazism, eugenics, Reddit. Even TERFs (Marxist-Feminists fyi) say troonism is "conservative actually" after ballwashing them for a decade. You ask leftists what makes nazis bad and they list authoritarianism as a reason??????? What was this last decade then? I'll be giving braniggers a win because it looks like the demons from Frieren are based on commies and their dialectic tricks.
G8-a_5AXcAAlEGm.jpg
If they didn't control education and more people knew about the Khmer Rouge and the like, they'd smear those groups as right wing too. Being an edgelord is fun and all but only doing that leaves a window open for well-meaning normies to be swept by the other side.

I feel like if anything can steer things right, it's to encourage kiwis and any likeminded old internet nerds to create. Not big, shiny projects, not aimed rhetoric trying to counter this or debate political ideas, just create dumb silly shit and let it propagate.
If I wanted anyone reading this thread to go out with a takeaway, it would be this. Go forth, children, and create.

Re: current conversation. I agree literature is in the shitter due to 50 Shades and its consequences, but you guys are acting like shipping is this demonic force or some shit, and not just regular fan behavior. What are we, substack boomers? It's true though that fandom activity being so shipping-centric is lame, I blame the jump to AO3 for that.

Expect a coming, actually organized post on a subgenre of anime Vinny talked about, you will be shock. And a post on a certain other, completely different anime later, it will start a dash.

I've always had a burning disgust towards fanfiction writers and shippers for their often sick obsession of seeing something sexual or romantic between two incompatible characters where there is nothing of it , specially if they are of the same sex also often fetishizing queer relationships, case in point how they managed to will korasami into a real thing
i respectfully disagree with this, because it comes connected with writing or thought experimenting what-ifs. in my opinion the actual problem, which is about the same thing to be fair, is shippers or people very pro ship being given the reigns of entire franchises and leading the course of relationships, even retroactively.

evangelion is the first example i think of where you could VERY fucking easily have shinji just be slightly less retarded, or start spending more time with asuka or rei or even misato, dealing with the issues of each. there's room for having 3 separate fics made, one where he stayed with asuka, rescued her (which i believe is what at least one of the official mangas leaned into where he was just slightly less retarded). i think all that's within reason, fun to think about, makes some stories much damn better, couple ffic writers are better than official content, and still better than the fucking retarded deadpool ending they forced.

but another more relevant anti comparison is the teen titans, the starfire/raven/bb/robin/cyborg ver. cliffs notes is the original dynamic was starfire was a bit older traumatized amazon, bit naive, loved robin but robin was a forced retard, then loved her back, but was a retard whenever he needed to not be or editors wanted, and eventually raven's (older and more mature/not retarded goth teen) emotional surges led to her in a triangle with starfire for robin, because he was mature and dependable, member she first recruited as well i think. bb was just a kid and then was buck broken after terra, and i think cyborg got The Thing treatment where post cyborg he had a breakup from hell and constantly deals with existential crisis of being a man forced to be a machine.

but then the cartoon hit. starfire was made younger, smaller, and retarded, raven is permanently a goth teen that's permanently locked to beast boy, and cyborgs a token black man. really hard to explain how badly the changed everyone without a ted talk essay, but the writers were allowed to fundamentally change each character going forward in all appearances. harley quinn and poison ivy is even worse, the only work that's shown harley quinn as doing anything separate from scissoring ivy or preparing to in the past several years was White Knight, which had it's own issues, especially with the fucking sequels, and the last thing that had ivy as a separate entity that was anything besides being scissoring dyke plant lady headed for harley quinn or any living female in the past several years was arkham knight that i remember, maybe ss ktjl but i didn't play that. i think though even in official stories, if you had something like where specifically robin and starfire got together, one where robin and b gordon got together, a spin off where bboy and raven got together instead, sure whatever, would be fine. but the problem is instead of main canon being something standardized vanilla like, say, peter parker always being with mj except for spin offs, aus, we have the complete clusterfuck that's went on since he refunded his life and unborn child to the devil for aunt may to have possibly quite literally one more day.

didn't mean to rant so much but grinds my gears too in a way, tldr point being i think shipping is fine, potentially great, even officially, as long as you don't have situations (continuously) happen akin to a new writer taking over lotr and explicitly making legolas and gimli fuck each other, frodo and sam being in a bisexual threeway, and gandalf being sadhorny for saruman. character takeover, sabotage, and throwing them away to the next writer is the real issue over some shit like what if robin and raven were a power couple, or what if starfire and robin actually just fucking got together instead of him being shot in the head and fucking some unrelated black chick in dc chicago or wherever the fuck

Another thing related to the Gamecube no one ever correlates is that the other reason people suddenly 180'd on Wind Waker was due to it being one of the few games to run without any major issues early on in Dolphin's development, so the ebin quirky artstyle and reputation for being ignored in favor of Ocarina of Time 2 Twilight Princess managed to combine with the game having the winning programming set to be able to run ignorant to being in a wildly incomplete emulator.

Prime 4, FWIK, isn't "woke" per say
It's not openly political but the elements are there, especially with Soycux (odd name, I know) literally being evil because incel. If Other M wasn't so poorly received I guarantee you the authors would have made Samus and her fangirl into girlboss characters and made Soycux explicitly an incel with rage. Probably would have implied Samus was a tranny, too, since apparently the writer has said that in the past.
Is it really? See, this is where I put an emphasis on who this is happening to (amerilards) and when (post-current year). Did the crossdressing mission in FFVII cause something similar? Of course not, at least not in such a big scale in comparison.
Of course, the impact depends upon the circumstances, for example crossdressing was very common in Britain during WW2 (this was the favorite pastime of British soldiers), but although there was doubtless a lot of sodomy going on, they still had a functioning shame culture to prevent open homosexuality or transsexualism. BotW of course released at a time when Internet pornography was extremely common, whereas FF7 was released long before normal people could access the Internet; if someone played FF7 and thought Cloud crossdressing was interesting it probably ended at that, but while playing BotW, if "Gobby likes what he sees," he can very easily find manmade horrors to reinforce that. Furthermore, the scale between these is very different, FF7's crossdressing is limited to a single scene that passes pretty quickly (I have never played FF7, but that's the impression I get), whereas crossdressing in BotW is mandatory for an entire area of the game, and you're given the power to customize your girly clothes and wear them permanently. Beyond that, all dungeons speedruns (which became popular near the time that BotW released) never remove the girl clothes because its slow (I think the same is true for other long categories). The context in game is also different, with Cloud crossdressing as a means to an end out of necessity (although it seems that the actual case is not justified, crossdressing can be done morally in cases of necessity), whereas, although Link benefits from crossdressing, he does it purely by choice and even finds trannies beautiful; and again the crossdressing it attached to an area of the game that departs from what leftists would call "heteronormativity", with all the brown muscle girls. That being said, FF7 is extremely popular with the Tumblr crowd, so I don't doubt it influenced some things.

Unfortunately, it seems nobody fucking likes the Switch 2, it has no games
To offer a bit of rebuttal regarding the Switch 2, anyone who says the system is a flop and has no gaems either forgot about, or straight-up wasn't around for the 3DS.

The thing was also criticized for being too expensive, and launched with Nintendogs, Pilotwings, and Steel Diver (a game built on top of an old DS tech demo), and the first major games to come out after launch were remakes of N64 games (OoT and Starfox 64). It wouldn't be until late 2011 / early 2012 that the system would receive its first true killer apps in 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus Uprising, on top of the system receiving a price cut. Compare that to the Switch 2 launching with Mario Kart ('muh $80' aside), DK Bananza the following month, and Kirby Air Riders in November.

As of the end of September, the Switch 2 has sold around 10 mil units (and that number has probably gotten bigger since due to holiday sales). For comparison, the 3DS sold 2.3x less than that in its first 3 months, before the big price cut.

If it feels like "no one likes the Switch 2", I'd owe that to the Internet having become far more divided than it was in 2011 or 2017. Hence, it's far easier for echo chambers like this to form. I also mentioned this when Deltarune Ch. 3&4 came out, and some communities claiming that people may finally be giving up on Toby and his stuff. That, and we live in an era where ragebait is still a thing that easily generates clicks and engagement™, especially given how mentally volatile Nintendo fans tend to be.

Any and all Nintendo fans who aren't in lockstep with the North-Korea-level totalitarianism really don't have a place to congregate, anymore. I wouldn't say KiwiFarms counts, given the site clearly wasn't made with the intent of fostering/discussing media & culture (I'll talk more about this, later). Part of the reason I did the BGE poll a few months back was to gauge what games KF even likes to begin with, since it sometimes feels like KF just straight-up hates everything, even moreso than /v/.

Judging by what happened there, we should pray Nintendo never has a bad year again.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say none of us want another year like 2015 ever again.

This is not correct, Nintendo released a financial report where they said there are 10 million Switch 2 units that they "sold" 10 million units "sell-in." Nintendo used this language of "sell-in" and "sell-through" to describe total sales including to retailers and sales to end customers respectively. The only "sell-through" numbers that Nintendo has released are that it sold 6 million in the first seven weeks, because of course the 6 million number sounds impressive to investors, but if they revealed their true sales since then it would not look good to investors. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2025/251104_4e.pdf
Sell-in refers to sales by the Nintendo group to outside entities. In addition to units sold to corporate business partners, this number also includes units sold to individual consumers through Nintendo's direct sales websites or as downloadable software.

What happened in the case of the Switch 2 is that (outside of Japan, which has unique conditions), there was a very high stock, so that the most hardcore Nintendo fans (and a few non Nintendo fans who basically got tricked by marketing and have since regretted their purchase) could buy it at launch, and the demand was mostly satiated after the first seven weeks, so that anyone who wants a Switch 2 can buy one at their leisure (contrast with for example the PS5 which was dealing with scalping problems for a long time). The continuing sales of the Switch 2 are approaching current Switch 1 numbers, and it sold extremely poorly this holiday season, literally doing Wii U numbers in America. https://www.ign.com/articles/video-...t-had-the-worst-november-in-the-us-since-1995
combined unit sales of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 were down over 10% from Switch sales last year, despite this being a launch year for the Nintendo Switch 2.
There are multiple reasons for this, such as the newly released NEX Playground which basically stole Nintendo's lunch money for the holiday season, because usually holiday sales are parents buying consoles for their children, whereas the NEX Playground took that market from them. However, a lot of it is backlash from a large segment of Nintendo fans over Nintendo's greed, and general disinterest from non Nintendo fans. If you're not a Nintendo fan, there is absolutely nothing that the Switch 2 has to offer to you: Mario Kart World is a game that got people hyped at first but disappointed with its anti-fun online updates and the fact that it's not a live-service game despite the fact that many people expected it to be one. Donkey Kong Bananza does not appeal to most gamers as a "baby game". Kirby Air Riders failed to appeal to a wide audience despite initial hype due to its unorthodox gameplay. Pokemon, and all other Nintendo games, are on the Switch 1 in a maybe slightly inferior form. All third party games are really shitty ports from the PS5 or even PS4 (or in some cases even shitty ports from the PS3, somehow). If you are a Nintendo fan, there are definitely games you would want to play, I've personally heard people wish that Nintendo wasn't being so greedy so that they could play DK or Kirby Air Riders, but they don't want to be treated like trash by Nintendo and refuse to play ball until Nintendo lowers the prices (which has already begun, despite the fact that the Switch 1 never saw any price drops and even increased in price after the Switch 2 launched).
As for Japan, the console, last I heard, is still in demand there, partly because the price is lower in Japan, presumably partly because of Japanese nationalism (just like Apple does well in America partly because Americans like Apple), and partly because Nintendo and their retail partners are holding back stock in Japan to keep demand from running out for a variety of reasons.
In short, the reason why it seems like "nobody likes Switch 2" is that the console is actually not doing well, and there is general disinterest in the console. There is of course a part of the Nintendo fanbase that loves the Switch 2 and is angry at people for saying that it's doing poorly (I'm reminded of Arlo starting drama with imonlyhereforpikmin because he pointed out that Pikmin 3 Deluxe was broken on Switch 2, even though imonlyhereforpikmin likes Switch 2), but it doesn't appear to be very large, with videos about Switch 2 games underperforming on various gaming channels like Ceave Gaming (tbf his viewership is much lower than it used to be) or Abyssoft.

Unless there's something I don't know about yet, what makes the whole situation surrounding Prime 4's writing interesting to me is that it stands to represent the ever-present problem with "Millennial writing", even when wokeness is taken out of the picture.
It's much worse than that. The writing is sparse outside of those characters as the Metroid franchise is a series with few dialogues, and these guys don't shut the fuck up.
If you remember the terrible black robot feminist pro-robot from one of the nu-Star Wars movies, it's the same thing here, but worse as Metroid is a series with zero mainstream presence. It didn't need Marvel-tier writing nor terrible gameplay for the masses. Combining the two makes it a terribad product.

Worse, the writers knew you would hate these guys as they make fun of you if you shoot them, and they're invincible to that but not to enemy attacks, and if they die it's game over.

Lastly, the bad guy was clearly repurposed as his motivation is inane. The fact that the MckKenzie's design makes zero sense (a suit with glasses AND he wears glasses despite being the far future), until you realize it's a self-insert of the writer makes it infuriating.
Oh, and that moron apparently was behind the writing of that not-Gundam show of Rooster Teeth, whose name escapes me now, that bombed. He was moved to ruin another project as a reward.

Prime 4 is woke in the sense that all of the self-inserts clearly are woke, while Samus is a normal woman (to some extent). The fact Nintendo cared little about P4 shows they knew it was going to bomb. I hope this doesn't kill Metroid... Again. What I wonder is why the Japanese branch didn't intervene to rewrite the script at some point. It seems they did, as there are cut lines with even more annoying dialogue of the self-insert squad.

Check the reviews, no-one outside of paid shills likes this shit.

Sounds like what Sony does with their Playstation numbers. They claim that PS5 has sold over 80 million when its actually shipped, and only 60 million have supposedly only made it to consumers while the other supposed 20 million have gone to storage units or some shit. And then of course there's the fucking with PS2 numbers to keep it the most sold console ever by claiming that there was somehow millions that were sold that weren't accounted for.

Hell, even Metroid Prime 4 has the same hideous "Marvel humor" that no-one likes, because the main writer is part of the death-cult.
show me some of the stuff the writer has said
