Burgers are not supposed to be artisan, they're just supposed to be good
Truth. There's a burger restaurant in my city that has been in business for about 15 years, one of the oldest "just burgers" places in town, run by to camp gay queens, i go to a couple times per year and while they're pricy with their burgers, varying from 9€ to 15€, ($10.50 to $17.50) their quality is virtually unmatched, at least compared to other burger places i've ate at (i think we got a Five Guys but i haven't been yet). They got about 20 burgers on the menu, ranging from the plain old cheese burger to more exotic stuff with fig and goat cheese on it but they skip the whole pretentious "artisan" bullshit. Simple interior, fast service, great quality. As it should be.

Edit for some thread tax: People who never had horse don't know what they miss out on.

"Artisan burgers" are fucktarded. Burgers are not supposed to be artisan, they're just supposed to be good, and preferably greasy as Hell. Anything fancier than Five Guys is bullshit.
You can have fun experiences trying something new, burgers are very versatile

I like artisan burgers, so long there's effort and not bullshit overpricing

Also kinda wish tallow wasn't expensive as shit here. Maybe I could try using lard.
Best solution to the price is to make it yourself with beef trimmings and fatty parts of roasts. Freezing them gives you some time to collect enough to make a sizable batch.

As for tax, I don't like eggs by themselves.

The heart IS a muscle. Not a fan of liver, but marinated skewered chicken hearts grilled Brazilian style are delicious, even if not something to make a whole meal out of.
I know, but the texture is still off (pate is fine for me for the same reason). Never tried them grilled btw, maybe it's worth the risk lol

Speaking of meat: horses are fucking delicious, almost like beef 2.0. Just as juicy, but meatier, idk how to explain it. Some say it's blander and less fatty, but I haven't noticed that.
edit: haven't read the new posts, someone has already written about horse meat :story:

Chicken hearts are perfect for grilling on the skewer, there's no risk at all, it's a fool proof delicious meal. Serve it with rice and traditional brazillian farofa, some beer too

Liver is great also, but if you don't know how to prepare it, it's gonna be bad. Unlike hearts, is not an lazy man's preparation, becuse you must remove the membrane so it won't turn into a shoe when you sear it in the pan

>remove membrane
>remove duct if present
>slice em thin
>soak in milk for one hour
>drain
>sear it with butter and olive oil, garlic, salt, thyme

Livers are fragile, so it's easy to overcook them. If you do it the way i tell you here, you'll see that they're a fantastic protein

Any "meat" that isn't muscle is total crap. Don’t try to deceive me with some special, magical recipe for melt-in-your-mouth beef liver or chicken hearts, I'm still gonna vomit after the very first bite.
I thought liking any of those things was unpopular. My entire family cringes at organ meat.

In my social circle, I'm the one with unpopular opinions about food. Beef liver is fine. It's not my favorite but I would eat it if it was offered.

Frankly, I'm of the opinion that if you don't like black/unsweetened coffee, you don't like coffee.
Either that or it's just bad coffee. I've had burnt coffee that couldn't be saved no matter how much cream or sugar you added to it.

Organs by themselves tend to be too pasty for me to enjoy, but when mixed into a pudding or with something that adds texture to it it works for me. It's similar to beans in that regard; sucks by itself but good at complimenting what you're making.

I'll see you when we storm the Great Wall of China again, brother :story:

I agree on the chicken hearts. They're also pretty safe even for people who are iffy on eating organ meat. Liver can be a bit of an aquired taste but it is still kinda safe. Brain is super tasty (we regularly fight over it when my cousin makes grilled suckling pig on the holidays, their brains are tiny), so are testes (especially calf, thinly-sliced, breaded and fried they taste like the most sublime Wiener Schnitzel) but there's a bigger mental barrier for non-organ meat eaters. Kidney and lung need excellent preparation or else they taste like shit, or rather piss for badly prepared kidneys. The only thing i hard pass on is cow stomach, smells bad, tastes even worse. Tried it in many different forms, none were close to edible for me, ever.

Then I'm GODDAMN MONGORIAN too, 'cause horse rocks.

Slivered, raw horse meat, quail egg, with a topping of soy sauce, gochujang, garlic, and sesame oil.

Fuck, now I want to go rustle some horses. BRB, tempting the gallows...

Are horses bred for meat? Or when the horse dies they go "fuck it" and butcher it?
I strongly expect that they are bred for the meat, because it's well-known that old horses would produce meat so tough and stringy as to be inedible. There is a reason that the "retirement home" for old workhorses was Elmer's (glue) Acres.

Put raw tomato on pizza until you get accustomed to their terrible texture. After that you can enjoy it anywhere. It requires a high IQ and extreme self discipline to properly enjoy tomato.
Watchu mean terrible texture

I don't understand the hype over sweet potatoes. I'd genuinely rather eat regular potatoes, and I don't really love those.

I love eating tomatoes raw like an apple or an onion. So good and refreshing.
I like making a BLT with two thick slices of tomato between the lettuce and the bacon on the inside, then just eat the rest of the tomato. I'll do this with a burger too.

And anyone who can't handle a Margerita has shit taste.

A good tomato is GOOD. I understand the hate for a shitty tomato, all watery and the flesh tastes of misery and sad. But I have never had a bad tomato in Italy, for example. Nothing beats a freshly picked, still warm from the sun tomato where it's perfectly ripe, where the first bite explodes with flavour in your mouth.
I love sweet potatoes due to the fact you can go sweet or savory with them. How have you had them prepared?
I'm not really a "sweet savoury" kind of person in general, so that might be my problem. I've had sweet potato fries and I want to say I made mashed sweet potato like a decade ago where the entire family hated it. I want to give them a go again, cooking something from scratch, because tastebuds develop and change as we age, but I also hate the idea of potential food waste.
