WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. has struck Venezuela and captured its President Nicolas Maduro, who has been taken out of the country, President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

The U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in Latin America since the invasion of Panama in 1989 to depose military leader Manuel Noriega.

"The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Venezuelan government.

The U.S. has accused Maduro of running a "narco-state" and rigging an election. The Venezuelan leader, who succeeded Hugo Chavez to take power in 2013, has said Washington wants to take control of its oil reserves, the largest in the world.

So, Kiwibeaners and LatAm scholars, what next?

-NOTHING EVER HAPPENS: Maduro 2.0 takes power with the backing of the Venezuelan political establishment, the policia hunt down and eliminate the opposition and things go right back to the way they were before Operation Taken Taco

-LA DEMOCRACIA!: A US-friendly leader is insta- whoops, I mean elected, and Exxon-Mobil magically get to buy back their oil operations at fire-sale prices. Pundits claim TOTAL CAPITALIST VICTORY because Venezuelans are now using Coke can boxes instead of old newspapers as shoes

-MAD SPIX BEYOND FENT-A-DOME: The cartels pull a Sheinbaum Maneuver while everyone is distracted and Venezuela becomes just like Mexico except with a green jungle filter instead of the yellow piss desert one. Vince Gilligan becomes very upset after realizing how cool Breaking Bad would be with jungle narco characters, maybe he could write in a pet jaguar arc for Jesse...

I like to think the CIA made a deal with Trump for his second term: they’ll cut back on the deep state fuckery if he lets them do one, just one, little regime change.

A universe exists where we publicly televise the execution of a communist dictator of a 3rd world hell hole and make all the brown people afraid of us again. The golden path

Maduro clearly picked the wrong Beatles related song to sing. Instead of Imagine he should have been singing Help! LOL

Hopefully the strikes will continue on the narcos until every cartel is nothing but a bloody mud puddle. And hopefully this helps get the other beaner countries who are harboring narco terrorists to wake the fuck up. Countries like Mexico, Columbia, etc. If we can do this to Venezuela then we can do it to them. And hopefully Iran is paying attention as well. They recently declared war on us, but they are in a perilous position right now with literally millions of their citizens in the streets screaming for the end of their regime.

Don't fuck with America.

Do you know the purpose of the thread highlights? Its for people who don't want to read a bunch of retards jerking each other off and just want to learn about what is going on in the world.
Man, these mod guys are up to no good. I hate this I can't take anymore of this. I don't know what am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? The mods... I'm the mod's top guy. What am I gonna do? The mod’s chose me to lead the revolution.

Wow, so surely Trump will arrest American politicians that support the narco state and stole the 2020 election. Right? What about all the American politicians that openly aid, enable, and fund the invasion of America by criminal foreigners, surely you will arrest them too, right? This administration is a bad joke at this point. They have the will and resources to enforce big change, and instead they use it on regime change CIA nonsense in some pisshole that doesn't matter. But hey, this is great key jangling so everyone forgets about the foreigners scamming our welfare programs so that the administration doesn't need to arrest anyone significant.

Washington wants to take control of its oil reserves, the largest in the world.
Obviously that's why this happened. Anyone who thinks this has anything to do with a "narco state" is hilariously gullible, at best.

I just thought of something: it would be absolutely kino if Trump did this not only to get rid of the narcos and have access to cheap oil, but to also be able to more easily deport the Venezuelan illegal aliens back to their home country. Because we know Maduro certainly wasn't going to take them back, especially when many of them were released by Maduro from the prisons so he could ship them to America to be rid of them.

The fact of the matter is the United States as a geopolitical entity has been considering military intervention against Venezuela since the Obama administration. Primarily because of drug trafficking, which is either directly conducted by the Venezuelan government (see Cartel of the Suns ) or at best they turn a blind eye to it and allow it to happen. It's only gotten worse over the years of Maduro's rule.

Imagine how much energy the groypers are gonna spend defending Maduro today. Even though this is a major win for both the US and Latin America as a whole. There was no full scale military invasion or crazy collateral damage and the US got what it wanted.

FTFY

Holy fuck trump actually did it. It's just quick trip to Venezuela and the next thing you know that retard maduro is captured. I expect some invasion for few weeks at least but the orange men did what putin couldn't.
This is how most wars start.

“Yay we did it, our dudes will be out in a week”

20 years later you still have troops dug in fighting insurgents.

Don’t speak too soon. The reality is that unless we control street corners, which is something only boots on the ground can do, Tren de Aragua or the military will likely continue the same policies as Maduro.

I’m trying to be optimistic this isn’t another forever war that we gain nothing from but it’s hard as I’ve been alive long enough and read enough history to know better.

They'll give him a trial and probably put him in jail forever.

It's in Southern New York so I imagine they might try fucking with it -- he's le heckin' based commie and Trump's le fascist darth vader chud -- but if they do they're just going to put him under a military tribunal and he won't be allowed out no matter what some seething female in a black robe screams.

Maduro's best case scenario is he is kept in jail for the next few decades, then allowed out to live very quietly away from us. Worst case, he dies in our custody peacefully or we intentionally release him somewhere his victims will kill the shit out of him painfully and slowly.

Either way, Venezuela will likely have a new government soon. Ideally we're going to arrange to help rebuilding efforts rather than take in refugees, although to be honest a bunch of victims of communism would probably vote reliably Republican forever. (This may be the only thing that prevents the open borders fucks from wanting us to bring them in.)

I for one would love to see Trump Brand Venezuelan coffee.
It’s not in New York. It’s in the Southern New York Federal District. It’s a Federal criminal prosecution, not a state prosecution. The venue is a formality.
