WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. has struck Venezuela and captured its President Nicolas Maduro, who has been taken out of the country, President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

The U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in Latin America since the invasion of Panama in 1989 to depose military leader Manuel Noriega.

"The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Venezuelan government.

The U.S. has accused Maduro of running a "narco-state" and rigging an election. The Venezuelan leader, who succeeded Hugo Chavez to take power in 2013, has said Washington wants to take control of its oil reserves, the largest in the world.

I was thrilled when Trump got elected but I've mostly been disappointed since then other than on border security. However, taking Maduro without boots on the ground is a great thing in my opinion, he clearly lost in 2024 and refused to relinquish power, keeping millions in a state of poverty and terror. Obviously there will be side effects and a power vacuum but things were so fucked up to begin with I honestly think this is great for the average Venezuelan. Time will tell.

Unless they scooped him up in a big net I’m pretty sure there was boots on the ground at some point.

As long as it doesn't result in a flood of refugees or bankrupt the country who fucking cares?

I guess the military did just bomb the place and grabbed el presidente, but what's gonna happen next? What's gonna happen afterwards?
🌈 Hopefully They learn and the next tin pot dictator is smart enough to not side with Drug Cartels and BRICS (The Shortbus G7)

>be maduro
>have the biggest crude oil reserve in the world
>a vast array of aircrafts
>can't afford to keep your fighter jets on air because no fuel due to socialist resource retardation management
>double down in a conflict with US
>fucking dies

They'll give him a trial and probably put him in jail forever.

It's in Southern New York so I imagine they might try fucking with it -- he's le heckin' based commie and Trump's le fascist darth vader chud -- but if they do they're just going to put him under a military tribunal and he won't be allowed out no matter what some seething female in a black robe screams.

Maduro's best case scenario is he is kept in jail for the next few decades, then allowed out to live very quietly away from us. Worst case, he dies in our custody peacefully or we intentionally release him somewhere his victims will kill the shit out of him painfully and slowly.

Either way, Venezuela will likely have a new government soon. Ideally we're going to arrange to help rebuilding efforts rather than take in refugees, although to be honest a bunch of victims of communism would probably vote reliably Republican forever. (This may be the only thing that prevents the open borders fucks from wanting us to bring them in.)

I for one would love to see Trump Brand Venezuelan coffee.

Lots of Eurofags have this mentality that even if something is bad you just suck it up and learn to live with it, and that you should avoid risk and upsetting the order of things.

The idea of forcing change and bending people to your will has been foreign for Europeans for generations.
Maybe if they would have kept that mentality in the 40's and let a certain Austrian painter do his thing we wouldn't have half the problems we deal with today.

He is being waterboarded to the tune of YMCA as we speak.

As objectively successful/positive removing Maduro so fast will be, skipping Congress to do so is disturbing. The last time we had an illegal war was when we toppled Gadaffi in Libya, and we all know how that turned out. Even then, Obama had a UN Mandate to justify the intervention. So we have an intervention with no international support that can have potentially dramatic consequences for the Americas

This clip is such a distillation of leftist thought.
Is he concerned about the govt which has forced millions into abject poverty trough its deliberate mismanagement? No of course not!
Think of the poor busses! And don't wonder why they're parked close to an AA-system and behind what looks like a really sturdy fence. They most certainly don't belong to the military. Perish the thought or you will be perished.

It's impossible to hate these people enough.
Being a iranian that had to learn what was taken away from us because of communist /muslim pigs. fucking PREACH amigo. I'm fucking sick of leftists/axis of resistance right wing monkeys consistently defending shitholes that would shove rebar up their asses for using sites with a VPN on. I would wish lefties for something very fun and halal to happen to them but last thing I want is to get perma banned so, the most i can wish for is; a very merry one way helicopter trips to hell.

Nigga is 63, with prison food he might have one decade left in him at most and not a couple.

You watching cartels? You watching Mexican Jewess? You watching? No more drugs. No more illegals. No more bullshit or this but you.
Lol our military protected the poppy fields in Afghanistan that didn't exist before we invaded. But we are trying to keep drugs out.
Trump could probably make it very illegal to hire illegals if he wanted to really tackle the problem of illegal immigration. Never even hear mention of this obvious solution though. Instead the solution involves creating even more of a police state where we are normalizing govt agents in masks grabbing people off the streets and perhaps going to the worst prison in the world...because that surely won't be turned around and used on us eventually...even though Trump has publicly mused about sending Americans to CECOT.

I guarantee you there's Venezuelans that will vote for socialism again, it's a religion. The average socialist in latin american is either

a) a bureaucrat profiting from it
b) some starving retard that really thinks he would be worse without it and blames his misfortunes on a non existing right wing (it was outlawed and banned from the country)

Chile voted for commies again, Argentina got buttfucked by the Kirchners for decades, then blamed the opposition because they can't understand that recession caused by years of socialism won't go away overnight... Don't get me started on Brasil, same fucking thing

The left will return to Venezuela, it happens all across Latam, latin american socialist has a internacional robust propaganda machine, fueled with drug trafficking money

I asked the only Venezuelan I actually know what they think of all this. Direct quote:

"I hope the americans boil him alive on oil
Maduro was a thug piece of shit
Had it comming"

Make of that what you will.
