Nonsense bullshit, some talk of lasers like they are using them as some kind of proto unhoused fiber optic cable but none of it makes sense if you have even a little idea of how ANY of this shit works.


I remeber VIVIDLY watching in one of my CS clasess a presentation on the ISS and how they had such struggles with ground based communication with the exact stat I stated before about how a single JPEG would take hours to upload. I know this because they talked about the specific usage they had for this. Microcracks. Apparently a spacesuit can be compromised from even a stupid small opening so they have to take very high rez photos of their gloves before each spacewalk then send them to a computer on earth (they dont have very powerful computers on ISS will explain that later) to have to check for any microcracks then send an Ok back.

The presentation was focused on how they somehow HAD gotten a large powerful computer to the ISS to mitigate this process, the issue is even only that high up you deal with "space radiation" just randomly flipping bits from 1 to a 0 and if it does it to the wrong bit your computer is just fucking bricked.

But try as I can I cant find that video anymore beacuse I think they realized from a pure data comms level the moon landing was impossible so had to roll back the publics ability to reverse engineer that as a concept.
