I kind of think maybe part of why our society is out of whack politically right now is that women are supposed to be, in some ways, the "nothing ever happens" guy when it comes to social and political issues, the "everything will turn out all right in the end, you'll see" person. It's men who are generally meant to both say "things are happening or about to happen and we need to prepare imminently" and "I will make a thing happen" because those scenarios both, for the overwhelming majority of human history, required physical strength and men have more of it. It works out better when the men are the hypervigilant, alert ones and the women are calm presences who work to steady the ship.
But it's all reversed, isn't it, especially in the younger generations? Even in most conservative circles, I see it reversed. The plurality form of youthful masculinity on the left is passive soyboy, and on the right it's "nothing ever happens" guy and apathy. The white women (a huge percentage of whom are liberal) are all convinced this is the biggest election in our lifetimes every 4 years and that covid was basically The Stand. They're anxious and hypervigilant, even a good number of the conservative ones.
