Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Basically all of Oregon's black population lives in N Portland/St Johns. It was incredibly tiny last time I was there, but the Kenton and killingsworth neighborhoods have been being developed for a while now, so a lot have migrated to the Sandy Blvd/Gresham past 170th. There's a huge chunk of Koreans that basically own the 140th to 160th, and do a decent job of keeping the trash out. There's also a ton of Russians and Ukrainians in troutdale.

I can't believe they burned down the Popeyes!

Honestly tho there's a couple mom and pop chicken joints on Alberta, ainsworth, and killingsworth, I would be willing to bet money it was a local competitor. Someone burned out Rio's ribs, not sure if that was ever solved.
The best part of my trip was there was a homeless black guy who stopped at a hose spikit, ran it full on to wash his face, there was a couple white dudes between me and him. It was during a serious drought and they clearly uncomfortable with touching it after the nigger so I turned it off.

despite my racism I am a very soft touch when it comes to people in my actual life as basically everyone is
Yeah I have a former coworker who did not know he wasn't born here until he started applying for college. I don't know how he can look his parents in the eye with a lie like that. He's truly an amazing person and I asked the person who told me about his status what could be done about it and they just shrugged. I really don't understand why immigration is such a difficult process. He's someone worth keeping so why can't we figure that out? He's also not brown lol. I also don't understand how this went on so long that he's now between a rock and a hard place where there's absolutely no way he belongs in his ancestral home either. It's the stupidest problem that shouldn't exist in the modern era.

in 2017 there was a bipartisan bill all ready set to go to regularize the position of people like that, it got torpedoed by immigrant activists demanding universal amnesty or nothing

I went to Portland a few years ago. There were tents of homeless everywhere. There was a map online where you could find out where known homeless encampment were. I tried to pick a hotel in the least bad area. It was still bad.

The entire city smelled of urine. I overheard employees of one store casually talking about "that guy with the machete last week." The Nordstrom had armed guards stationed outside like it was a fucking embassy. As it got dark, fent zombies started walking the streets, even moreso than in the day, and they were bad enough then. Half the art museum was empty because they had taken down alll the local Pacific Northwest Indian art (which you can't see in museums anywhere else) due to cultural sensitivity issues.

The only good things were the 80s/90s alternative radio station and the huge bookstore, Powells, the biggest I've seen anywhere. I'd like to go back, but not unless they clean it up, and that doesn't seem to be happening.

Is there any chance that Portland could get better someday?
Yes, I do think Portland at some point will have a turnaround but it may take something like 10-20 years to properly happen. Unlike other cities which fit into the shithole category such as say, Detroit or Baltimore that have basically unfixable problems relating to their demographics PDX has a great makeup. Largely middle class, white, educated people. A city is it's people after all. It's problems also could very easily be fixed with an increase in policing which would just take a shift in peoples views on police here. Homeless people smoking crystal meth and shitting on the sidewalk could be cleared up overnight if the police were allowed to do their fucking jobs. This is a much easier issue to deal with then gangs or rampant poverty some other cities deal with.

Do I think this will happen anytime soon? No I do not. Do I think it will eventually when people get fed up enough? Probably yes. The tide will turn and the pendulum will shift.

TOO BAD! Deportations for the Deportation God! Off to Liberia with him!
They should do a remake of Assault on Precinct 13 but it's homeless fent zombies trying to break into Powell's.

Downtown is generally to be avoided. Which is a shame, because prior to 2015-ish it was a genuinely nice place. The best reason to visit the region is to see nature and smaller cities that are a lot more interesting.

I know I know. I just am baffled by the system we have and why it allows for people to get into these situations and the lack of ability for people to ever figure out legal solutions. It's like the US has such a narrow ability to process immigration that you'd think we're anti immigration, yet the actual enforcement is so dog shit that we end up with way more immigration than what we can handle.

literally every time I go to powells there's someone pooping outside

I'm confused why no one else is freaking the fuck out about the WA refinery shutdown news. maybe for Christmas you can explain why.

I have an electric car.
Also I live on the other side of the border.
I should really check where my gas comes from for the lawn mower and generator and plane.... Utah... I'm good.

It's too much to even contemplate that WA can just kill the whole state of Oregon by being insane virtue signaling retards. Personally, I'm ready for some Mad Max shit.

you're all retarded I wish I could enslave you
You know, I've read many of your posts and you seem like a nice person.
In a town like Portland, where it seems like everyone is a bunch of neighborcattle, each poster in this thread is a rare and special kind of person as well.
I hope that on this special day, where we celebrate Chris the King, that you managed to avoid all of the milquetoast pagan faggots, and that your racist uncle said the Nigger Word at the family table.
God bless us all.

To wrap up the tranny county commissioner saga in Lincoln County, Oregon.
He was elected years ago. He became 'she'. He was re-elected a couple times. They got enough signatures for a recall election. Votes due tomorrow(Tuesday, Jan 6th).

And he's fucking dead. He was old, fell and broke his hip a couple months ago(certainly not made more fragile by HRT despite his protestations) and died due to complications.

We're probably going to see a lot of this shit as these stupid troons have the consequences of their severely mentally ill behavior catch up with them. The people who trooned out during the peak troon period are likely to learn deadly lessons in a couple decades.

It's just nice to get some good news in this thread every once in awhile.

It's a common beginning to the end but 66 is young for it, especially someone who was still working, ambulatory and independent.
