Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough​

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.


But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:


Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

He was elected years ago. He became 'she'. He was re-elected a couple times. They got enough signatures for a recall election. Votes due tomorrow(Tuesday, Jan 6th).

They changed the policy after criticism, but not after seething and claiming that all of the twelve black people in Lincoln County felt a 'ripple of fear'.

Commissioner Claire Hall says the county’s received a lot of feedback on both sides of the issue.
“Certainly, we've got a lot of very angry white people saying we're out of our minds and worse,” Hall said. "I'd say our office has heard from at least a dozen people of color. You know one of them said aren't you aware that the virus disproportionately impacts communities of color? And I said oh yeah absolutely. But also the same people saying that you know they fear an unintended consequence of a well-intentioned policy. Let's say a person of color comes into our courthouse and chooses not to wear a face covering, they're actually more likely to be harassed and profiled than if they don't."

The County issued a statement on Wednesday evening regarding the decision.
“We are shocked and appalled at the volume of horrifically racist commentary we have received regarding this policy exception,” that statement said in part. “The expressions of racism regarding the exception has created a ripple of fear throughout our communities of color. The very policy meant to protect them is now making them a target for further discrimination and harassment.”
Lincoln County, home to nearly 50,000 residents, is almost 90% White and less than 1% Black, census data shows. But it's also home to the Siletz Reservation and a growing population of Latino residents.
The county said it will continue to recognize and fight racism.

I went to Portland a few years ago. There were tents of homeless everywhere. There was a map online where you could find out where known homeless encampment were. I tried to pick a hotel in the least bad area. It was still bad.

The entire city smelled of urine. I overheard employees of one store casually talking about "that guy with the machete last week." The Nordstrom had armed guards stationed outside like it was a fucking embassy. As it got dark, fent zombies started walking the streets, even moreso than in the day, and they were bad enough then. Half the art museum was empty because they had taken down alll the local Pacific Northwest Indian art (which you can't see in museums anywhere else) due to cultural sensitivity issues.

The only good things were the 80s/90s alternative radio station and the huge bookstore, Powells, the biggest I've seen anywhere. I'd like to go back, but not unless they clean it up, and that doesn't seem to be happening.

The machete thing is shockingly common in Portland. Mentally ill drug addicts will find big sticks, machetes or other pointy things then just go around in a meth rage threatening people. There was a guy dubbed "stick man" who used to roam around my moms neighborhood and he would charge at people screaming slurs until the cops had to be called. He'd inevitably be back on the streets doing the same shit after only a couple weeks every single time. The armed guards are also at grocery stores too not just department stores because theft is so high. Mind you, this was happening in a very nice middle class neighborhood in Portland. 700k houses and yuppie restaurants all around. Anyone who has lived in Portland for more than 3 months has horror stories like this. It's all over the city not just downtown.
