Though ironically considering your pfp if you count the Tesla Model 3 as a sedan it's basically the last stand of the common American sedan.
Name your second and meet me with pistols at dawn sir, I will not suffer this insult lying down.

(But yes, you're correct. It is a hatchback sedan. I forgot about Tesla.)
America used to have walkable cities/towns that served both cars and walking.
There's a good number of towns that still look like that or at least similar.

Oh, I know, I live near one, it's quite funny how the compromise to their complaints has existed for a long time now. We need more small town America again.
That's not what they're talking about, though. Like many of the "walkable" (or "car-free") European towns these sorts of things exist solely for the tourist trade (Mackinac Island, Michigan has been brought up here before). The picture in question is Telluride, Colorado, a popular ski resort town.
Note that almost all of the stores are shops and restaurants are tourist-oriented...it has an Ace Hardware but those places have a large gift/non-hardware department even in non-tourist areas.

Browse this thread long enough and what urbanists claim they want is something closer to a college campus and the adjacent bar/nightclub district.

A little something for @quaawaa !
So I was browsing hackernews and this came to my attention

Europe has fallen...

Got told to buy a commercial passenger van instead of a comfy family vehicle.
Also, I love the admission that Europeans would choose to drive cars and have large families if their governments didn't make it difficult for them to do so.

By the way, no one who works in tech uses HN anymore. The site is almost entirely populated by European socialists who either work for the government or unemployed. Do not use them as a barometer on what tech people think.

I'm late to the whole wood vs brick house discussion, but it makes me lol because in the UK it is not uncommon for the exterior walls on super-cheap rowhouses from the 1800s/1900s to be literally a single layer of brick without any kind of support or insulation on the inside. American "brick" houses are usually wood-framed with a brick facade, but that is still sturdier than the UK style (and far superior for insulation/weatherproofing).

Guys, Eastern European commieblocks are actually good because urbanists said so
Possibly unpopular opinion here- but as an American I would tolerate living in a commieblock if it was cheap and racially segregated. Of course if they built commieblocks in modern America that wouldn't be the case, just purely a hypothetical.

it's grim when Americans are wishing for what Soviets in the 60s actually had

>NOT LIKE THAT! I WANT TO TAX YOU OUT OF YOUR CAR!
Taxing things we want to see less isn't an inherently bad idea in and of itself, but no one is proposing a tax on homosexuals and single mothers.

Speaking of which, according to Wikipedia, Nick Pappas, the Democrat candidate running on an urbanist platform has withdrawn his nomination according to Wikipedia. Turns out that focusing on a major plank that no one actually likes is bad if you want to get elected, who knew?

I don't quite get what they're complaining about. We've had Dodge Rams here forever, I see them quite frequently already.
And any regulatory change won't really affect the amount of such cars we'll see here, mainly because there isn't that much demand for such cars. Fucking urbanist fags gotta stop pissing their pants, this won't really change a thing.
A friend of mine had a classic Chevy Suburban. Compared to European cars it was an absolute monster. I think he ended up registering it as a lorry, more or less. But even though he was a genuine motorhead and loved the Suburban, he ended up selling it because its size was just not practical here. And so I doubt cars significantly larger than the typical euro crossover SUVs will become more popular here.

One advocates for lowering fuel duties in Europe because they cover more than their fair share of infrastructure spending:
Calculated the externalities to be 32bn GBP for car miles last year.

Fuel duty is 25bn, but then car insurance tax(IPT), VAT on car sales and repairs/servicing (VAT is 20% here), plus road tax probably easily makes up this figure and much more.

I know this is a lefty meme format and I'm not an artist but there needs to be a reminder.

Great idea. Trains limited to 10MPH. Busses and trucks limited to 20MPH. School busses limited to 10MPH as they're carrying children and children are often near them. What's that, you want your goyslop now? Sorry it's all about safety.

Oh well, someone beat me to it.

Update on this guy. He turns out to have been addicted to gas station drugs for the past five years:
What a pussy. I clicked on the video thinking he was gonna discuss the horrors of a raging truck stop meth addiction - instead he got addicted to over-the-counter poppers? :story: (i.e. the stuff they sell to gay men for buttsex).

I don't quite get what they're complaining about. We've had Dodge Rams here forever, I see them quite frequently already.

The problem is R/fuckcars 'spergs treat pickup truck ownership like a mind virus that turns everyone conservative, 'cause they're too retarded to figure out "correlation does not equal causation". They see Texans in car centric cities driving pickup trucks, and conclude that clearly the pickup truck is why Houston is a city explicitly designed for car ownership/car navigation, or why Texans vote Republican.

I'm sure they won't complain when the suburbs get free delivery while it costs €100 to get a delivery to the city center.
