A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Waiting for the budget to come out has been in a way like the build up to Christmas for me. Not because it will be good but because it will be so bad that the fallout from it will be hysterical.
Same, the fact that I'll be abroad making pre-cooking Thanksgiving dinner makes it all the sweeter. Watching that insufferable bitch snivel with each declaration. I despise Reeves not only on a fundamental level but also on a spiritual. level. The fact that this cunt calls herself religious yet knowingly lies about her qualifications and experience is inexcusable.

The only positive in this for her is that her name is forever marred. Her family will look at her with abject disgust, and hopefully the level of shame will force her to anhero. Easily one of the most disgraceful "politicians" next to Mandelson and Blair.

Glad to see you are safe and well @Chunky Salsa

Won’t make a blind bit of difference. Doesn’t matter which Labour puppets take over, or if starmer gets put in the stocks, of Labour are still in power the country will continue to implode

How about a coup?
Hmm, that would be an interesting turn up for the books.

An internal or external one?

Non-UK related (partially) but the Epstein files have dropped... if Blair, Starmer etc. are on the list then it will very interesting...

Lies. You fucked a ram, you're a gay Welshman.
To the rest of the world it's simple bestiality. Homophobic bastards.

Who views the 'cock-ups' as cock-ups?
The Public, but when have they ever mattered to our "elected" officials?

he was allowed to do this by people higher up
Because they all fucking do it, right from prep school through fagging at Eton and onwards they've been stewing in it. It's called "The English Vice" for a terrible reason

sounds like they had a right little perverts club
Yeah, it's called Whitehall

Importing cheap labour was bad enough but this isn't even that, it's literally importing useless eaters at this point.
So the flooding with Indians is for the cheap labour.

The flooding of small boat shitskins would because Boris Johnson (or someone) signed up multiple contracts to house them.
Basically a taxpayer funded transfer of wealth to enrich certain beneficiaries.

Contracts can be notoriously difficult to get out of without paying astronomical damages. I know that Restore Britian tried to FOI documents relating to migrant hotels contracts and got some information, but got stonewalled on some other details.

Plus you have an entire army of lawyers, NGOs, and Churches looking to make bank defending them in court, feeding them, or "rehabilitating" them.

Tldr: it's about money.
"Asylum seeking processing" contracts are in the hundreds of millions (if not billions) of dollars.

Governments don't answer to you.
They answer to their donors.

There's obviously plenty he's not going to go after Labour for due to being a massive bleeding heart, but the stuff he does have gripes with he's very on point here. He can be perfectly cogent when he wants to be. Long history of indulging in histrionics but his Chavs book demonstrates he's perfectly capable of sustaining a coherent argument.

I'll never forget him storming off set - tears in his eyes - when he was meant to be debating (((Tommy Robinson))) like a decade ago. He's only gotten worse in recent years due to engagement farming antics.

Do they only showcase left-wing or centrist opinions?
City "people" aren't real people, these are the fellows who by choice dwell in the wonderful diverse petri dish of humanity that is LANDAN, they're just targeting their market is all. Same shit with daily fail readers and their fixations with everything causing cancer and oooh doesn't she look FAT in that dress.

They literally come to leech off the taxpayer, it's not a secret.

As far as they're concerned, it's still for the same purpose. They are fully convinced that if they just let the migrants stand on the magic dirt for enough time, they'll transform into obedient, productive citizens who don't require twenty expensive years of education and training and can immediately be put to generating tax revenue.

"Can you hear me, Morpheus Mound Dweller? I’m going to be honest with you. I hate this place, this zoo, this prison, this reality, whatever you want to call it. I can’t stand it any longer. It’s the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your the stink of British Nationals. And every time I do I feel I have somehow been infected by it. It’s repulsive, isn’t it? I must get out of here. I must get free."

Toplol, this morning. Economic growth of 0.1%. Where's the budget Rachel?

How about a coup?
There're a lot of people in this country who if they saw a mob walking down the street carrying pitchforks and torches saying "Hey, we're going to overthrow the government" would grab their coats and join them. And by "a lot" I mean "most of us."

The more and more people get pissed off, the harder it becomes for the government to stamp down on all the sparks that might get that bonfire going.

The thought of some Montanism-like movement just growing as more and more people decided "fuck it, lets go to Westminster" amuses me to no end. "And in latest news, the number of people converging on Westminister has now grown to two-million..."

British nationals could be here...

I fully expect them to ban pitch forks, torches, and coats next. That'll stop em!

The problem is there's no mob. Nobody wants to be the first member yet, so everyone's just waiting. It's made the world surreal; everyone is going through the motions of normality, acting as if it's just another day, but we all know something is coming.

This is how pretty much every peasant revolt got going; some relatively minor local grievance snowballing into a mass movement before they're all massacred.
The Jarrow march had a similar outcome but with less broken farming equipment, popular discontent is nice to see and all but counts for little and it's no revolutionary situation, unless they start explicitly chanting BOAT WOGS OUT of course.

Please can someone give the TLDW on this? I can't watch it myself because

a) Owen Jones' toddler face and gurning underbite makes me want to throw my phone at a wall.
b) Owen's habit of talking much too fast with he/him/his massive tongue makes me want smash up my phone.
c) I don't really want to break my telephone today.

I dislike that little man even more than I do Sir KS, which is a lot. And yet I'm curious to know what he has to say about Starmer that hits the right beats. I know Jones feels betrayed that Labour are no longer keen to slice off tits and cocks, something something Palestine, and Starmer is literally Hitler compared to The Magic Grandpa.
Does he say something interesting? What, please, if you could spare the time?

I want to live where you lot live. The mood here is opposite to what I read online;
  • people aren't concerned with migration and believe anyone who is, is a racist nazi.
  • Labour aren't doing great but they're better than Reform and Tory.
  • Labour should give more benefits out to people, because people on benefits should be able to afford a car and a holiday every year - some of their views border on how the Soviet Union used to give free houses, cars, holidays to people.
  • There isn't an epidemic of knife crime by migrants who are British.
  • The media is - and this one is my favourite, right-wing influenced and ultra nationalist and the BBC has done nothing wrong.
  • There should be more migration because it helps the economy
  • Trump bad. No idea why that's relevant but I hear it a lot.
When I read the comments in this thread, some I agree with, but none reflect where I live or the people around here. Thinking that they would march on the government gives me a chuckle because these lot would be the first to stand in your way and block the roads.

Unfortunately I think the majority of people think like the above, and only clusters of people can see where we're heading. That said, in our history we have had those who defended the evil and those who tried to wipe it out. alf of England supported the Normans.

I’m in a pretty cosy middle class bubble and everyone is walking around with their Labour voting “this is fine” faces on.

When I head back to my traditional Labour voting Norf FC town to visit family my local pub is a tinder keg. This town is white as snow but one news incident from destroying the council offices in Minecraft.

We’re a country split into three groups: the deluded middle class, angry proles, and rapey foreigners.

I lived in one of the worst areas of the country for many years and sadly yeah a lot of them wont take any physical action, I guarantee most of them wouldn't even vote unless their dole money was on the line. Though a lot of them are very right wing and the "ate foreigners, lov me country" thing is very real, they wont do anything as long as the dole money comes in every month, the football can be watched for free on an amazon fire tv stick and the local shop is still stocking Buzzballs at 2 for £5.

Perhaps it might just be where you live but the vibe around here is very pro mass deportations but they don't want to put the effort in to get rid of them because that might effect their next job centre visit.
