A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

While the idea of another terrorist attack by these subhumans is reprehensible, there is a part of me that would think it would be extremely funny if Abdul and Mohammed started to fuckin stab people in the back during "Don't Look Back In Anger".
But maybe that's just because I fucking hate Oasis.
 
The lady, 34, who was attacked outside the Bullring by Djeison Rafael, 21, has sadly passed this morning. May God rest her soul. The attacker Rafael is set to appear in court shortly. There are no known further details about him or the victim.

I have seen reports the Mohammed killer on in Oldbury who killed the 19 year old girl was supposed to be in prison/had previously been done for assaulting a man with a knife. Possibke accidental release or early release. Mobilefagging will get articles. grey trackies could also be Nike tech suits which are very popular with chavs/blacks
Edit: Unsure of this article's veracity but claims Mohammed Azim had previous convictions for: (emphasis not mine)
  • 2013 Conviction: Brutal Predatory Rape—Jailed for 16 years for the rape of a vulnerable, homeless woman, a crime described by the judge as "brutal" and "predatory," resulting in a 20-year sentence structure.
  • Earlier Convictions: The court also referenced previous, fatal crimes: Manslaughter and Kidnap involving the death of a man in a canal.
    A man with a history of manslaughter, kidnap, and a predatory sexual assault was released on licence. The fury of the nation demands to know how the state released a man the court deemed dangerous enough for a 20-year sentence structure.

Why are there so many drivers who don't understand what the fuck Stopping Distance is? Be me, driving along, exact same speed as the vehicle in front, got enough space that if it suddenly brakes I can too. Car behind, clearly gay, doing its best to disappear up my arse, pulls out, inches past me at about 5pmh more than I am doing, immediately pulls into the space in front of me and starts slowing down because car it is now behind was going the same speed I was. Gives me about 5m gap between me and it.

Routine. Happens a dozen times in one short stretch of motorway. Why do so many people drive like some cross between Ben Hur and a geriatric?

How can ‘no nuts, coconut or pork’ be a mistake? ‘No puts, coconut or lork’ would be a mistake. Saying ‘no pork’ is as obvious a clearly thought-out statement as can be. I take it the school is in a majority Muslim area?

I don’t care if Muslims don’t want to eat pork. They have no right to force that on other people, though, especially not children. This is not a Muslim country and state schools aren’t Muslim. If parents etc don’t like it, they can start their own damn schools

Professional victim is back in the news again. Imagine reporting a fellow football professional to the police for tweets you don’t like. Absolute fucking joke. She’s had it in for Barton since he disrespected her commentary (and she was awful at her job). This is just a petty personal vendetta at this point, and the courts shouldn’t be involved in such matters.

She'll forever be the Fred West of sports commentary. I find it hilarious the jury didn't find him guilty of likening her to Stalin and murdering listeners ears tho. She claims she was 'forced to find opportunities abroad' so these comments were worth going to court over... could it just be that no one in the UK likes her? While we're at it, lets get rid of Danica Patrick and Karun Chandhok, the Ian and Maxine of F1 commentary.

Birmingham Stabbing update - the victim has been named as Katie Fox. Rafael is no longer 'of no known address' as the fatarses at WMP have finally worked out he's from Smethwick. To no ones surprise he also has multiple charges. He also interrupted the hearing multiple times and was told to 'be quiet' and 'look forward' aka chimping out in the dock. He will face the Crown Court in two days.
The 21-year-old, of Rosedale Avenue in Smethwick, was also charged with two counts of causing actual bodily harm on October 27 and November 7, possession of a Stanley blade on November 7 and assaulting a detention escort officer on November 8...

West Midlands Police said it wanted to hear from anyone who knew more about what happened or the movements of Rafael, who it described as a black British national.
The force said it believed he was wearing an all-grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and rucksack on Friday evening.

I wouldn’t mind a female commentator if they were a) knowledgable and natural, and b) didn’t have a voice like having your ears stabbed. Just chucking the first woman in you can find who played at a decent level doesn’t work. It’s a combination of voice tone and timing as well as knowledge, and yes, it takes time to learn. But some people just ain’t up to the job, and ole Anki Victim here is one of the worst.

I liked the Chandopedia for a while, but he’s better suited to occasional ‘cute facts’ kind of talk than the in-depth stuff, where he sounds a bit like a boring autist. Bring back Anthony Davidson, he was pretty good. Maybe Jensen Button will go into commentary, now he’s retired from racing?

There’s a few absolute disasters in sports commentary, but the worst is Martin Haven. He currently does the world endurance racing stuff, but he did a lot of winter sports and Olympic commentary on Eurosport. Whiny, nasal and loud voice, gets over excited, and never shuts the fuck up despite repeatedly forgetting facts. He’s the reason the mute button was invented on the remote, I swear.

Because it's unfortunately common belief that once you get your license, the rules no longer apply. Had this discussion with friends and siblings numerous times. It's how I have heard such gems as 'Speeds limits only apply if there's a camera nearby' 'if you enter at 70 and leave at 30 it averages out to 50' and my personal favourite 'you can overtake whenever you want, if the other car doesn't slow down it's their fault'.

That last one I was told shortly after being in a car accident which was the result of someone overtaking me in a spectacularly retarded way.

IDK maybe has something to do with the fact that we allow the race that never invented the wheel to get behind a steering wheel. That combined with a general degradation of education and common sense in the country and you end up getting some extremely shitty drivers.
Also Indians.
