I thought this was lost forever, but someone out there thought to archive it after all: http://archive.li/SCbFo

Congressional Candidate Brianna Wu brags about harassing a mentally ill person. When called out she decides to double down. Triple points for Wu calling someone else a pathological liar.

"Brianna True Story: I went to college with a girl who dealt with her depression by creating a fake husband on Facebook using a male model's pic. So, I created a fake account too, of his brother "Bud," and friended all her friends - posting WILD statuses."

This is good shit. "congressional candidate harasses the mentally ill" is a great headline.

Eh, advice the 2017 Frank could use.

If he'd call BriBri on her fake employees, fake congressional campaign, fake job adverts, fake meetings with VCs and constituents and generally on her entirely fake persona, maybe she'd snap out of it and get a job at a supermarket or other such menial work that she's actually qualified for.

I guess Frank didn't get around to washing those poor dogs last week because its hair looks so dirty and matted. I'm shocked none of those dogs have an eye infection or something from having all that fur in their faces.

For fuck's sake, John, how about you save yourself a week of Potbelly's and take them to a professional dog groomer?

My brain automatically kicked the tires of that story and got tripped up on something.
Born in 1977, ok, trolling some mentally ill teenage girl while in college, ok, on Facebook so that would have been in ~2007... College at 30? Oh, ten years in college, that's right it all makes - wait a minute that fucker was 30 years old when he harassed that girl!

Speaking of Wu's dogs, Wu made a tweet earlier which I failed to archive before it fell in to the memory hole about having to take out a loan to get Crash emergency veterinary care. I was going to check it out against Wu's financial disclosures to see if it lined up with that mystery loan that Frank has secured on his 401K. The dates don't line up though.

I have recent personal experience of getting emergency hospital care for a pet, and I know that while it's expensive it's not so expensive that you really need a loan for it. Unless they're something way off about the story Wu told about Crash, he got an overnight stay in hospital and some IV drugs before he died. That's about in the same ballpark of expenditure as going to the opticians and getting a couple of their most expensive designer framed glasses. It's bizarre that the Wus have so little in personal savings that small financial humps in the road like that require serious borrowing.

I was thinking about the loan on the financial disclosures though. Two things come to mind. It's about the time Giant Spacekat was seriously falling apart. Wu had been boasting for about a year now about how she was going to get millions of VC dollars for her VR pipe dream and nothing had come of it. It's possible that she convinced Frank that Giant Spacekat needed more money dumped in to it so they could strike it rich. The other thing that comes to mind is BriBri's throat surgery. I don't know how far in advance you have to pay for elective surgery in yankland... maybe it's possible? If Frank is putting up his retirement savings to get BriBri more tranny surgery, that's about the saddest thing I can possibly think of. Anyway, it's difficult to see what other things would require a large non-mortgage loan, considering their combined income and lack of any responsibilities.

John, you forgot to mention mySQL backdoor ATL honeypot cybersecurity 2.0

Wu literally thinks that Apple invented and holds the market on cloud computing :story:

"I see this as another way for vendors to profit from something we should be developing ourselves with open source. Seems a bit lazy."

How is cloud computing more secure?
The server farm probably has a better IT staff keeping the machines patched for vulnerabilities, compared to a small or mid-size corporation.
The downside, of course, is that you're trusting your data and privacy to American tech companies, who shouldn't be trusted further than you can throw them.

Our company is putting all of our sensitive data on AWS, the same Amazon we do business with.

I said "What's to keep Amazon from just pulling our data off of their servers to get a better deal?" My boss said "They wouldn't do that"

OK then.
Netflix is on AWS.

Netflix is on AWS.

And if Netflix decides they don't like the service they're getting, they take their millions of dollars in business somewhere else. They kind of have more leverage than some random schmo.

AWS massively overcharges, though, so I doubt they're really going to be openly extortionate when they can just raise their prices.
