An earlier post mentioned the big twist of Heaven and Hell being in the same plane. This would be a big ass pull, but the target audience would find it "deep" and "thought-provoking."

Whether her intention or not, Viv made Heaven the rich parts of an urban area (or a first world country) and Hell is the poor parts (or a third world country) while Charlie and Emily are bleeding-heart liberals that are fighting for socioeconomic justices. Another example of these two being stand-ins for their creator.
From what I understand of it this would be a Shyamalan-grade retarded plot twist, since the angels purge Hell because it might get more powerful than Heaven (Which, that itself is really stupid for a number of reasons, mainly that the demons get BTFO effortlessly by angels so why do they worry and the fact that they could just let more souls into Heaven)

I watched the first two episodes of season 2 myself because bored and also curious, so I’ll give my thoughts.

The good:
-The animation is a step-up, it feels like having a bigger budget/big corpo money definitely helped in this area. I don’t know how to really describe it but seeing S1 and S2 side by side; it feels like there’s a difference in its quality.

-The pacing felt better, to me at least, S1 rushed everything to hell and back. But this one at least feels like it’s slowed down a bit so your not getting bombarded with plot points each and every second.

-Lute and Sir Pentious were the character highlights for me, Pentious continuing to be the only real likable character and watching Lute slip into delusion and madness made her more compelling to watch, Lute, Adam and Pentious are the best characters of the show and it isn’t even close. I did enjoy getting to see more of Vox but I’m sure all his screentime will be likely to degrade his character (as with the examples like Striker or Crimson).

The bad:
-The jokes are still hit or miss, and some run for way too long. The one demon who kept saying he “killed his wife” every time he was on screen felt like a prime example of this, there were a few that at least got a chuckle out of me. But so far and few between. Kind of the inconsistency is what I expected from Viv at this point through.

-Every character still saying “fuck” or bad words every second in every sentence, it’s still bad but it did feel a bit less this time around since it seems like the focus has shifted more to the actual story to a degree instead of rushing things. But it’s still there.

-The songs continue to be hit or miss, I was never too big on them but Gravity in particular was a highlight for me (because Lute and Adam). It at least felt like there wasn’t a song every 5 seconds and they spaced them out more.

-Vaggie continues to feel useless to me, I don’t know why. She just feels like she’s there for “mah representation” and nothing else. She feels empty, even after her “development” in S1; if you could call it that. I feel like she’s the worst character because the sole reason she exists is so Charlie can be “uwu lesbian”.

-Charlie still feels like a pushover, I wasn’t expecting much from her but her scenes make her out to still be a huge wimp. I get the idea that they’re trying to say running the hotel probably isn’t as easy as it seems, but what’s the point of having her front and center for 8 episodes prior with little development?

Overall, at least having seen the first two episodes; S2 feels like an improvement over S1. But the bar was so low that being better than that is well…not hard lmao. But at least I can say I feel like it does have some improvements, but some of the glaring issues which are present in both shows is still there. I can’t tell if they had different writers or not; but it just feels like they slowed down the pace enough that it’s not literal ADHD every episode. Sure; might change in later episodes as time goes on but for now I can at least say it’s an improvement.

So apparently at a convention panel, Viv was asked if Amazon told her to change or censor anything. She said there was only one thing, and it wasn't becaue they thought it was offensive, but that that it was unfunny.
Please let it be Vaggie's name, I can see Amazon being unwilling to fully support the show if one of the main characters name is a not so subtle slang for vagina.

I do think its possible to make someone being abused funny and having serious moments since it depends on the characters' POV. What hurts it was it being done in quick succession and treating the characters as weirdly omniscient.
Viv being high and mighty about 'I treat sex abuse seriously' is also a huge point, but it is kind of cheating since most normal-ish people usually watch only the show and barely dig deep on social media to know about that.
Yeah, that’s my main problem with it. Viv wants to have her cake, eat it, and get ass pats for it.
I think it's because Angel Dust's abuse from Valentino has been treated to be something serious this entire time. We saw Valentino slap Angel Dust in season 1, feeling the impact of the smack that leaves a bruise on his eye. But then we get this episode where the same exact thing is happening to Angel Dust, but this time there's goofy sound effects. You can't blame the manority of the audience for finding this jarring.

I’ve said it before but her character designs and how she writes characters reminds me so much of 2010 sonic OCs or what a 12 year old considers funny and well-written.
The designs alone are honestly the greatest tell that Viv never had any stories worth telling in the first place. You could be given zero additional information on her background and still be able to figure out pretty quickly that she's still lugging around online art fandom baggage that influences every decision she makes, let alone a verifiable basket case. Why would I trust anything particularly good to come from someone whose character interpretation abilities started and stopped at what other artists were doing with Don't Hug Me I'm Scared sexymen in 2013?

That S2 bit is treated in Val's point of view, so of course the pimp won't see his property as anything but property.
It lost the impact since the Vs then a second before that scene showed Hell has cameras all over the place.
"Valentino, you need to stop hitting Angel in public."
"When have I ever hit him?"
Also Vox stifling his laughter on saying the first part.

There's no "he said", "she said", "they said" POVs throughout the whole cast, so the power it had on S1 is evaporated because it was rendered moot (also being played last in the montage). The comedy is the abuse slapstick, not the evil characters finding it funny in their POVs or Val trying to shift the blame. I think the writing and/or the misplaced comedy is the problem on that scene.

I think you're right on that actually. If it was a flashback from Val or Vox, then it would make sense for them to not see it as that big of a deal. The joke would less be on Angel Dust getting smacked, and more on the fact that to these people this is all just a mild inconvenience. It would come down to the absurdity of the situation.

I think with The Boys its worse since like the source material treats male sexual abuse seriously and Kripke at least tries to pretend to be in-tune with it.

For Vivziepop, her issue is more actual immaturity since I don't really recall her doing SA with her female characters at all, its more tone deaf in how she sometimes treats sexual abuse against the male characters seriously but also plays it off as a joke.

It really comes from how tone deaf of a character Valentino is since Vivzie tries to have him be both this silly twink and serious monster. It could work if like the serious monster stuff is something that came up later while the silliness is all we had prior, but Vivzie switches between the two. He is perhaps one of the worst examples of Vivzie's writing philosophy of making her villains pathetic and intimidating at the same time which so far only works for characters like Adam, Vox, and Mammon.
KripKIKE shat on the source material - dare I say the only thing he made "better" was have Jonh Gillman/Homelander's son be his actual son.
Perhaps the depth on HL was better on the comics, because it wasn't him doing all those things. Eh.

That would almost be a Gnostic or Nihilist escape which would be complete ASS. But I could see it "Nothing matters dude, both sides are douches".

If the S2 finale isn't this I'm leaving.

Whenever I think about Steven Universe, I'm just floored at how such an amateurish attempt at a show ever got the greenlight.
Steven Universe was lucky to have first-mover advantage. No other kids' animated series had had such explicit gay shit in it before SU, so it received all the accolades for being groundbreaking and a pivotal step for representation before that shit became trite.
LoL Lute became a man (looks like muscles) and chopped Vox in pieces like Virgil from Devil May Cry?
I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be Michael
