And no I don’t think American civic religion is a strong enough binder. At its core it’s an ideology and that’s never been what’s held a nation together long term. For whatever reason civic religion just isn’t a good of a binder as true religion

There is no magic soil, magic laws or magic ideas or application of said ideas that will assimilate people

Heckin based hyphenated Americans will always have their own separate interests from old stock. Look at vivek

To clarify my position, I do believe there needs to be a shared culture, blood can be done through marriage, and in terms of religion it's been rather interesting to see Zoomers (who grew up post New-Atheism) saying things like "Jesus just taught basic morality" because it's very clear they are fish who cannot see the water.
If the fish cannot see the water, they assume the society in which they live is how everyone else lives, and they make incorrect assumptions like "Islam is just Christianity with different rules" (not completely different morality) or "Chinese people think like me" (when their society is much more tolerant of things like scams than Western society could ever be).
That's why I'm in agreement with you about the hyphen.

Making music digital killed the music industry that was the titan of pop culture for decades. Then (from what I've heard), people in the European metal scene distilled all the hooks and elements that are the poppiest part of pop music, then used that data to started producing the current garbage.
