It seems to be part of a bigger trend where Dems and liberals use the worst possible people as examples in their efforts to emotionally appeal for the public's sympathy and support.

Almost any time they bemoan deportation efforts, their examples of good immigrants in the community have either a background full of violent crime or they somehow managed to evade a previously-existing order of deportation. Similarly, the people propped up in the effort to keep EBT funding for November look as if they could go without EBT through the end of the year and not suffer any adverse effects.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're trying to garner sympathies for the midterm elections. I expect to see plenty of sound/video bites without context in the upcoming midterm political ads.

I rewatched his answer several times

he essentially said that US and Israel have different interests and sometimes they converge. He said Israel doesn't control the president and that the US has a mutual interest with Israel in protecting Christian holy sites
