NYC people are Stockholm syndrome masochists.
If you don't know it, check out the song Miami 2017 by Billy Joel, from back in 76. New Yorkers always fantasized over their persecution and the idea of the city being destroyed. They all creamed their fucking jeans so hard when 9/11 happened. Now they're replaced by the terrorists who did it? Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of people!

Halo is about fucking survival. The galaxy was literally wiped the fuck out once. The Covenant fought humanity for 30 years, glassing planet after planet with their superior technology, and they still fucking lost. The Spartans are humanities greatest sin and its greatest weapon. Literal abducted children forced into training where only a fraction survived to get augmented and put on the armor. Halo is hell. That's what makes it awesome
I mean there's also the whole "humanity are literally the covenants gods but they're too retarded to realize it" thing, but that's neither here nor there

ehhh, after the massive fail of the No Kangz protest, which they were hoping to explode in popularity, they will submit. They have a time bomb of Blacks threatening unrest due to EBT.
They would rather destroy the country and throw the globe into the chaos of potential thermonuclear war than lose control over the power of the state in any significant way. Trump is fumigating the rat's nest they've built inside the bureaucracy and they are getting really worried that this won't just be a temporary setback.

Also, for the zoomers in the thread, that was the infamous "they targeted gamers" copy pasta. I forget sometimes there are people around now who weren't there for it.

...they thought they won. But they were battling a group of people so autistic they play map games for fun and plot 20 moves ahead. Every set back was just another part of the Keikaku.
I feel retarded for not recognizing it, but I guess it makes sense why it felt that way. Whoops.

I keep forgetting the government is even shut down. Literally zero day to day difference.
This is actually a problem. It means that the threat of a government shutdown is merely performative since lawmakers have made the general public immune through exemptions of services to their dysfunctional bullshit. If real people were affected, they know they'd have pitchforks and torches at the steps and would actually have to work with each other and figure it out rather than just throw entire party wide tantrums.

Of the people I know who were shocked and upset by it, they didn't forget. They didn't want retaliatory violence in the first place, so it not coming to violence makes sense.

Serious question are these normal people or online types?
They've been left with a type of resolute hatred that can only be satisfied by one thing: A total societal victory that squashes the people who led to it happening and leaves their enemies utterly morally broken.
Eh most people just don't want bullshit.
.
They have their heads down and are working on their own lives and quietly peaking those around them, if the people around them aren't completely lost to brainwashing and extremism. A quiet souring from what happened and how people reacted afterwards, not a reactionary explosion.
Could just be the people in my group though.

As for likelihood of civil war, currently not likely. There are certain circumstances that stack on top of each other and make an event like that more likely and we're not there. Domestic terrorism from extremist groups, yes; civil war between two factions, no.
I think what got most Americans upset was that a guy was shot for speaking. But tbh the guy who shot him was an Internet weirdo and kirk himself wasn't exactly "main stream" he was known but there's a gulf of difference between trump nearly getting blasted and kirk getting killed. Most Americans don't know who or what he is besides he's "some online Republican". The man was about to debate Hasan, that's not exactly "boomer mainstream". The dems are split. Look at the NYC election, you have a fake fraud dsa muslim who isn't even religious just socially muslim, and Cuomo. That's the state of the party. A couple dozen troons who will be mopped up by the government or their own suicides when ignored doesn't mean people will die for them.

Not really. It just means now that the government stops passing bullshit during a shutdown. Who cares? If they do are not makes no difference because they do what they want
