It's propaganda and marketing of a lifestyle, which in this case is also a toxic ideology.

If I want to sell some random product and advertise it to a general audience, I'd depict attractive people enjoying it with their friends and family in some idyllic surrounding. Make it unrealistic, as long as they see your product and associate it with hot people and family values, it's fine. If I want to advertise it to other demographics, I'd focus on their interests instead which in this case feature beloved cartoon characters "selling the product" (repeating slogans and chopping their body parts off).

These people want mutilation in the same way an insecure person wants a new car after watching an advert for it. It's based on immediate gratification and being sold false promises through the media.

I'm gonna agree with him. Estrogen really is magical. It can turn a regular looking dude into a monstrosity while making them think they look like women. Just look at this lovely picture of him, he doesnt even look human.

Why is this seen as a legit argument with some people? Even if said fictional character was real, why would their opinion matter? Like "Luffy would totally beat up ICE agents" and? I'm pretty sure Luffy would also beat up the cartels and thus prevent the main reason why people leave their countries. Regardless, the character is not real, so who cares?

Luffy doesn't care at the end of the day which is the funny part. A lot of these types think in very childish ways where it's like because they believe the thing, that thing is the "right" thing, therefore the not real character will support them. Even if we wanna stretch this argument to its most suspension Luffy has beat up all kinds of characters in the series regardless of background but since most of these types of people don't get the nuance that a bad person is a bad person doesn't matter what they believe in or where they were born of course you get the weird types who even do this kind of stuff with Sonic characters (just as another wild example).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this could be ground zero for so much of the whitewashing discourse we’ve seen over the past decade or so. And it was over pale body paint on an Overwatch skin iirc. Just think about that whenever Twitter users start strangling each other over lighting/color theory on black characters.

That chart isn't even helpful, either. Yes, humans lose some pigment when they die, but the frames they use aren't even accurate. Some Asians when they die turn an off-yellow, some blacks might turn purplish, Indians become a weird yellow, etc. Sometimes you literally have to go on gore websites just to find out what people actually look like in death to get proper tones.

In the same vein, there was an artist named johne_art who did that with Jinx, but she made her look ashen grey while making Mel Asian. People lost their collective shit because you CANNOT race bend a black character, whereas you can race bend a white one all you like. I have also noticed that the 'where are her organs?' Redditors go mum when black women draw big tittied anime waifus - but BLACK! They are also big on niggerfying gingers. It's like they have an innate hatred of them.

Man, I remember when I was younger I was directly told by one of my friends at the time that it literally re-arranged your face to be more feminine. So many blatant lies to try and convince people that there is no risk. But the worst kind of lie is a lie that the liar believes to be true.
