Is it possible to make paid protests illegal or restricted in one form or another? Like at bare minimum having to be very public and open about who is sponsoring the protest otherwise it's treated like a racket or something.
Gotta get Citizens United overturned first, which essentially legalized flooding as much fucking money into any campaign's pockets as desired without oversight or limit. This kind of bullshit would undoubtedly fall under that absurdly broad umbrella of "spending money == protected political speech."

Im way behind in the thread, so throw clocks my way if this was already posted (also PL) but today was a blast. I went to the Marines 250th birthday celebration on Camp Pendleton with Pete Hegseth and JD Vance. It was basically the biggest dog and pony show I've ever seen or been to. This had been planned for about a year, and the plan was to do a big demo/training for a MEU.
The celebration was today and yesterday they did a dress rehearsal for it.

Now the I-5 freeway cuts through Camp Pendleton about 5 miles from the ocean, and then the base resumes on the other side. It effectively is the only real way to get from LA/orange county and other northern places, to San Diego. It's a stretch of like 17 miles or something). Accidents in that small stretch cause travel times be easily 2 hours for that one section.

There was also supposed to be the stupid ass No Kings protests down in San Diego.

Part of the training the Marines wanted to fire howitzers from the beach onto the ranges further inland (and has been done before).
Thursday a news story came out from some left site saying the Marines (and Trump) were gonna shut down the 5 going through Camp Pendleton to fire missiles from the ships onto the ranges. The Marines and white house said that they weren't gonna do that and they wernt shutting down the freeway, but they had turned in risk assessments and everything else needed to fire the howitzers over the freeway months ago, and things seemed to calm down. The dress rehersal went on yesterday without a hitch, and Caltrans was asked put signs out warning people of overhead fire. Then all hell broke loose as Newsome did what he did best. I woke up this morning to a post from my wife saying that the I-5 was going to be closed due to the celebration, and went to Caltrans site to make sure.

Sure enough, Newsome had Caltrans shut it down to try and score political points.

White House to fire explosive artillery over major roadway in Southern California, I-5 to be temporarily shut down on Saturday due to life safety risk
SAN DIEGO – Governor Gavin Newsom today issued a statement on ensuring public safety during a live fire demonstration at Camp Pendleton, after the federal government early Saturday confirmed with state and local authorities the event would occur:

“The President is putting his ego over responsibility with this disregard for public safety. Firing live rounds over a busy highway isn’t just wrong — it’s dangerous. Using our military to intimidate people you disagree with isn’t strength — it’s reckless, it’s disrespectful, and it’s beneath the office he holds. Law and order? This is chaos and confusion.

In California, we are proud to honor our military and the sacrifices they continue to make for our country. As we all recognize the 250th anniversary of the Armed Forces, let us remember the guiding principles upon which our founding fathers built this great nation and hold dearly those inherent rights that we all share.”

The state was recently informed that the White House intended to hold a major event between Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 at Camp Pendleton that involved firing live artillery rounds over the I-5 freeway. Governor Newsom condemned this absurd show of force.

On Thursday, October 16, the U.S. Marine Corps confirmed their exercise would be conducted on its training ranges, as it routinely does, but not over the freeway. That afternoon, the federal government also directed cancellation of train services, which run parallel to the I-5, on Saturday between Orange County-San Diego County.

Late on Friday, the state then received notice from event organizers asking for CalTrans signage to be posted along the I-5 freeway that would read: “Overhead fire in progress.”

Also on Friday, state officials near Camp Pendleton observed live munitions being fired near the freeway, an apparent practice run.

Early Saturday morning, after the state inquired once again for details, the federal government informed the state that live fire activities have now been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today.

Due to extreme life safety risk and distraction to drivers, including sudden unexpected and loud explosions, a section of I-5 will be closed for a period on Saturday, October 18. This decision comes at the recommendation of traffic safety experts at the California Highway Patrol.

I-5 is Southern California’s economic backbone, supporting over 80,000 travelers and moving $94 million in freight everyday between San Diego and Orange Counties. Just north of Oceanside, more than 65,000 vehicles cross county lines daily — half those trips for work. That’s $8.2 million lost in daily visitor spending alone. Thousands of truck shipments count on uninterrupted access.

Because of the federal government’s plans, drivers should expect delays on Interstate 5 and other state routes throughout Southern California before, during and after the event. Before traveling through the region, drivers are encouraged to visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov for real-time traffic information.

So he effectively pissed off all the people traveling to San Diego, commerce, etc, and his sides protestors in trying to own Trump while the celebration went on as planned. I can't wait for the fall out from this and would laugh my ass off if it causes peeps to vote no on his faggy special election to gerrymander next month.

If someone can archive, I would appreciate it since am phonefag.

It seems counterintuitive, but the people most susceptible to propaganda aren't necessarily the lower class, uneducated, but rather the highly educated. Members of the intelligentsia like academics and journalists.
Because intelligent people (or rather, educated people) are more likely than less intelligent people (or rather, less educated people) to twist themselves in knots, to justify, rationalise and intellectualise things they know in their heart not to be true but they want to believe are true.

We see this all the time, with immigration. Or, the covid-19 'pandemic' is probably the most egregious example of it. People were continually bombarded with evidence that their masks, their lockdowns and their rigorous testing wasn't doing jack shit and, separately, that covid-19 wasn't even that dangerous anyway. But they doubled down. And they rationalised and intellectualised why they were doubling down. Because they couldn't admit to themselves the real reason, which was they'd have to admit they'd destroyed their lives for nothing.

I'm still in awe of the levels of failure I am seeing here, but I got to ask: what's with the skeleton unicorn(?) and the fat cat? Am I missing something here, or did a furry just use this as an excuse to touch grass?
The fat cat is a variation of the meme, "Oh lawd he comin'" which is typically paired with an obese cat, retooled to imply that libertarians are being trod upon by Trump.

The skeleton unicorn appears to be a tremendous faggot hoping another faggot will touch his penis. But I could be missing something there.

That's my point, what do either of these things have to do with Trump? I guess I am looking too much into this, the "protest" is just a field trip for a few insane, obnoxious boomers for the most part anyways.

I got to explain to a zoomer the other day how nothing Trump has done as president (mainly enforcing existing laws) even comes close to the time FDR issued an executive order that made it illegal for a US citizen to own more than $100 worth of gold. How any amount over that had to be surrendered to the government in exchange for paper money, or it would be forcibly seized by men with guns. These same sorts of people kept voting for that gross cripple until he died.

A lot more than I expected came to my town's 'protest'-- but I expect at least 80%+ weren't from around here. Lots of out-of-town plates. Interviews with attendees were weird and NPC sounding too, "I'm a vet and I HATE DRUMP" "I was a republican and liked Trump until his immigrant policies" (as if Trump didn't start his whole journey with "BUILD THE WALL").

None of it feels authentic. But it's really hard to tell who is a TRUE AND HONEST retard and who is a paid actor when the brain rot is so bad it all feels like a parody.

What's weird is the last one was so very weak with attendance so the fact this one had so so many more people really makes me feel like this is all fabricated BS.

That's nothing. Woodrow Wilson almost literally had a brownshirt army that went around cracking the skulls of anyone who said America didn't need to be in World War I. The retarded 'Shouting fire in a crowded theatre' exception to free speech came out of all of that.

The fat cat one makes a little sense, at least, given that 'fat cats' is slang for greedy businessmen who enrich themselves off the backs of others. Not saying I agree with it but that's certainly how he's perceived by leftists.

Your guess is as good as mine for the skelecorn.

Protests in general should just be illegal, First Amendment notwithstanding,

If they're illegal, then a mob that's actually doing one is for sure serious, because they're risking it all. That's what a protest is actually supposed to be: we're so fed up with this shit that we're breaking the law to tell you. Skin in the game. No reward without risk. Instead, we have this stupid situation where teenagers, burnouts, and boomers can block highways and traffic, grind major cities to a halt, actively antagonize both normal people and the cops as well, and then cry fascism if anyone does anything about it. We have enshrined being a histrionic bitch as a civil right. Total absurdity.

Gets done by thousands of people every year with no consequences, so no, it de facto is not
Yup! Welcome to your (@pwnest injun that is, not "you" specifically) inaugural lesson in "anarcho-tyranny!"

Turns out if what you're doing is politically convenient for whoever's in charge of the local cops, prosecutors and courts, you'll mysteriously never get in trouble for doing illegal things even if there's a hundred witnesses and you demonstrably fuck shit up. And yet, if John Q. Public notices this, gets sick of it, and puts you down himself, the cops will ride his ass forevermore for daring to touch a hair on your nappy little head.
