99% of the time when you see a Bible quote that’s less than a paragraph long, it’s taken out of context and used to argue for something completely different than what the full text says.

No one who has ever cited that quote with the intention of "shaming" someone for indulging in a "childish" hobby or pastime actually understood the text they're quoting. The argument is "stop acting like a fucking child, start acting/thinking/reasoning/arguing like an adult." The argument is not "stop doing anything fun immediately! STOP THAT!"
