One of the most scary things about this whole saga is seeing the amount of people vulnerable to fall into cult mentality. And that they can have real political power. Scott Bessent is one of the few people Fatty has around him that even somewhat resembles competence. This is what actually made me start reflecting on that because as a wealthy person she could just....buy her way into a record deal. She could take singing lessons and tech for auto tune and hire songwriters and have her little game pretending to be a singer before tossing it aside for whatever next thing she wants. But instead of that she and her family are using their position to have something given to her, as though she deserves it. It just feels disgusting to demand something when you can easily get it yourself. Otherwise what's the point of all that money?

- demanding a significant cut of revenue for arbitrary reasons, like selling to a country they've declared an enemy
- the state owning significant shares to bypass COI measures such as procurement rules.

So let's say the state takes up 10% equity in a major chipmaker's company. Let's say 20% of revenue from two large graphics card businesses goes to the state. Let's say the state seizes control of a private company, like pirates robbing a ship.

That's called state capitalism. At least that's an aspect of what Lenin described as NEP, where many classical Marxists called him a traitor for.

Well. That's the thing, isn't it? Wealth exposes something honest--and oftentimes rather ugly.

She has the resources to hire the best vocal trainers, to seek the advice of the most talented singers, and to truly become something great. But that would take too much time and would require admitting to herself that she wasn't the best to begin with. These people will never face the truth: that they weren't born with innate talent.

Yep. Singing at high level requires a lot of vocal training and innate talent. If you're tone-deaf, you're fucked. If you aren't, you still gotta have a good tone (which is purely genetic) and work hard to be able to hit notes and everything else.

It's kind of like sports, where if you work hard you can become better and probably start on a high school team or a low level college team, but the vast majority of people don't have the genetics to play in the NBA. And those that did become professionals have innate talent and been doing it since they were young

People like to think that you just gotta work hard and you can do anything, but that's not the case. Genetics are very important, and not just in sports or singing, but in everything. Most people don't have the genetics to be a physics professor at MIT, either.

Lara Trump just wants to buy her way into being a singer without putting in the work or having the talent so she just autotune slops a song she probably purchased the rights for
