New info dropped, apparently some new content is in the oven

Upcoming Update

To celebrate this milestone, we’re working on a game update for all platforms that will include several additions and updates as a THANK YOU!!

A new, playable environment, taking the characters of Expedition 33 to a brand-new location with new enemy encounters and surprises to discover.

Challenging, new boss battles for late-game players to overcome.

New costumes for each member of the Expedition, giving even more customisation options for players throughout their adventure.

New text and UI game localisations into Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total number of supported languages to 19.

And more..

This is the perfect excuse for a new playthrough and hopefully they'll release it this year.

I really shouldn't have grinded the entire tower before heading into the final stage, sort of deflated all the tension by one-shotting the final bosses.
I went into it straight after the Act 3 transition, and I thank the posters here for that. (Got whooped some, but the fights felt appropriately scaled and cinematic.)

I didn't even do much of the optional game stuff but Act 3 was still easy. Feels like the original Final Fanatsy 7 when you have all the ultimate summon materia maxed and greet Sephiroth with a repeated Knights of the Round summon

That was not my experience as an idiot child that spent most of ff7 running from fights because I was more interested in exploration and the story. Boy did that ever come back to bite my single save file ass by the time I got to the final boss.

Yeah I kind of wish they broke the fourth wall a tiny bit and told players they're free to proceed how they wish but it's recommended to head straight into the final dungeon and then do everything else in postgame.

I still think they should've had some form of enemy scaling implemented for those who like to do side content because if you did even a quarter of the side content of the game, you're dogwalking the final bosses.

Also I really hope there's less of a reliance on parrying for the new content that's being added but knowing the devs I don't think it's going to be the case at all. I'm glad that the game was wildly successful though.

This game broke my heart and made me cry a few times.
The music is just too beautiful.
The ending did keep making me think of BossmanJack, though. Just need one more juice, just one more game bro, bro I swear just one more game and then I'll stop dude.
>Verso ending
IM GONNA FUCK A DOOOOD
I hope Alicia enjoyed her Gros Buford as RATdad Renoir drove her home from Canvas Rehab.

Would you say people are using this game to crap on its inspirations?

Gotta admit, as a fan of “anime-slop”, it is a bit frustrating to see people praise this game for appealing to “everyone, not just manga section people.”

I mentioned it in the thread before but yeah people 100% are. I have no doubt in my mind that this game wouldn't be nearly as popular as it was if it had an anime artstyle. It kind of sucks that people are using this game to disparage JRPGs because of how much the team were clearly inspired by older ones but I guess that's what happen when normies who probably haven't played a JRPG since Persona 5 or even FF7 latch on. There isn't a single thing this game does that JRPGs of the past haven't done at all which is PERFECTLY FINE, it just does a good job executing on those ideas.

As much as I love a lot of Japanese RPGs and fantasy anime, it is actually very refreshing to see a European fantasy that feels... European, and not Japanese. None of the girls act overly girly or stand pigeon-toed, there's no off-putting Japanese humor, no overly squeaky Japanese women going KYAAAAA or whatever. The men don't look like girls.
If you're submerged in anime slop all the time you don't realize how off-putting this stuff is to a Western person, even one who isn't new to anime. In a word, it's Annoying. But they were the only ones making good RPGs and even just good European-style fantasy for a long time.
So I don't agree it's the only good RPG or only good video game or whatever these normies are saying, and it's obviously a love letter to Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Dark Souls/Bloodborne, etc. but I do think there is something really special in the new stuff it brings to RPGs and fantasy in the modern world, notably European sensibilities and tastes.
I'm not even saying it's better because of that, either, but I can definitely see how a lot of people would see it as better just because of that.

I see, and that is understandable.

That said, I don't think one style is better than the other, nor do I think this game should be used as a way to put down other RPGs.
