It'll all depend on economy TBH.

I've seen a lot of hope for things going into next year, but the ever-spiraling nature of things makes me a little too uncertain to give a definitive answer. If the H1B removal gets people to work, housing bursts to be cheaper and maybe AI takes off for new jobs, it will be a slam dunk for Donny. Tons of articles I posted do make it sound weirdly hopeful for next year, though now we have the recent tarriff sperging, so IDK.
Yeah I know it’s early to make predictions it’s just always interesting to hear people’s predictions.

For most of American history the opposition usually “wins” midterms but I think this is uncharted waters really

"Anat Shenker-Osorio, a progressive strategist, roundly dismissed the relevance of polling as “pollingism,” and rejected the very notion that politicians can win support by heeding public opinion. “We know that humans are in fact irrational creatures,”

The voters are wrong. They talk like they aren't people, like they're above people. Truly sick.
Democrats really aren't defying the mental retardation charges.

Personally, going to go optimist and say things will work out.

Even articles deriding Trump have closures that are industry professionals/leaders saying that 2026 looks to be going in a positive direction. I think February will begin a positive incline due to H1B ending alongside new year plans.

For some personal good news, I was recently reached out to take a contract role as a datacenter technician for 6 months working with Microsoft for A.I. datacenter development. They were hiring 30 people for this role and seemed pretty sure people would be hired fully later or at least extended. I have a current full-time role, so declined, but if real it does show that things are picking up heading into the new year, at least tech wise. A year ago, I never would have received a call even if applied, now they come to me. Sure, it could be because I now have experience, but that is a pretty positive sign.

Can we get some Fs in chat for our poor, federal workers who were too busy fighting fascism to manage a budget?

That isn't a joke post. Black women federal workers spend literally every dime they make on beauty products, luxury clothing/accessories, restaurant meals, alcohol, luxury car leases, and mortgages on McMansions. They love feeling rich and since historically they've had a job/pension for life, why not live it up?

Of course, when it turns out that your job isn't guaranteed for life...

You realize the shutdown is affecting servicemen, BOP officers and Federal LEO like ICE, CBP and DEA agents right?
"Just eat at the mess hall" - works if you're a single grunt like I was. You can't take your wife and kids to the mess hall (I believe you actually can but you have to pay for them) I literally never saw it.

Noooooo not the three letter agencies what ever will we do. Most of these agencies could be like 1/3 the size and do more or less the same. Not to mention if you work for a government you should have a shutdown fund

Think of the poor starving glowies

The redditor is definitely not a servicemember:

I have a Masters Degree and I always been a bright individual since I was a kid, but it seems like my life went to the shitter! I’m a newer fed fresh out of graduate school starting at a GS-7 pay in a HCOL area. I’m paycheck to paycheck without even paying my student loans that are in forbearance.
I stand by my original profile of them.

H1B is mostly unchanged. The 2026 regular cap of 65,000 and the advanced degree exemption of 20,000 have been already been met. This doesn't include H2B and many other visa types that are often abused for to gain employment such F and M educational visas and B-1/B-2 non-immigrant visas. There's also an unlimited number of refugee (USRAP) and agricultural (H-2A) worker visas that can be granted.

Edit: one thing that did change, "Extend the amount of time a current H-1B worker may remain in the United States;"
