where do you get your info on China shit? I find it very interesting but in my experience it is very hard to find good interesting unbiased sources?
6 When you hear of wars beginning, this does not signal my return; these must come, but the end is not yet. 7 The nations and kingdoms of the earth will rise against each other, and there will be famines and earthquakes in many places. 8 But all this will be only the beginning of the horrors to come.
Matthew 24:6-8 (TLB)

e: TBH what initially made me think of this was 'you will hear of wars and rumors of wars' but then when clicking through translations I liked TLB best in this case

The following is an artistic dramatization and should not be taken as instruction or encouragement.

Kill doomers. Behead doomers. Curbstop doomers until their teeth fall out like their heads are broken Tic-Tacs containers. Bash doomers' brains in with a baseball bat. Separate doomers' brainstems from their spinal columns. Drop doomers out of a helicopter without a parachute. Make doomers bathe with a plugged-in toaster. Release doomers into lion enclosures. Eat doomers' brains and pass their prion diseases onto other doomers. Turn doomers into sausages. Deport doomers to Africa. Set doomers on fire and only put it out once they're disfigured for life. Exsanguinate doomers. Mulch doomers. Put doomers over bamboo as it's growing. Show doomers' browsing history to their dads. Expose doomers to South African car anti-theft devices. Tell Hillary Clinton doomers have evidence that will lead to her arrest. Feed doomers to chainsaws. Stick doomers in genpop with a CP conviction. Fatten doomers up and sent them to the jungles of Papua New Guinea.

Call me optimistic I guess.
Nice, it's not just a find-and-replace with the original pasta, was this fully custom?

I really enjoyed “American Caesar” by William Manchester. A fairly balanced view on MacArthur, who I find to be a very intriguing character. Writing is excellent as well.

Oh and Tom Clancy although idk if he counts. I live for that 80s techno thriller shit
I still think about that opening in red storm rising sometimes, when the brown person blew up the oil refinery because he was essentially treated like a diversity hire

I would like to recommend the original animated Star Trek. It has most of the original cast as well as some of the same writers. Our kids have been enjoying it. I've been enjoying it, too. There's little good on tv. It's on Paramount, but I don't know if it's available anywhere else.

This isn't a Roman history thread so I won't make anymore posts on this subject but let it be known both Marius and Sulla contributed to the collapse of the Republic, it wasn't a one man affair.
We regularly have multi-page discussions about Star Trek. With that in mind, Roman politics seems positively on-topic. The Republic had long outgrown its usefulness, and it was never intended to be the governing apparatus of a continent-spanning state. If the Republican was such a great institution, Romans wouldn't have deified the men who brought it down. Me myself personally, I think that pic related is something worth aspiring towards.

Wild that they can feel comfortable talking like that when they don't have any political power.
They literally don't understand what it's like to not wield any political power because they've had a stranglehold on the discourse for their entire lives.

Saw claim on Reddit that Trump is "punishing cities that won't vote for him". Of course, reality is that "woke" are causing the unrest that leads to action to restore order.

Administering something of that size and with much of the territory having no personal allegiance to Rome or a desire to be a part of it would be impossible for a bureaucracy to manage today, much less two thousand years ago. The Republic outgrew its own ability to maintain stability.

There's little to be gained in taking over any part of the world if the people there don't want to be a part of the nation. Few countries today will go so far as to cleanse an existing population to resettle the acquired land and the cost of acquiring it and any natural wealth it may possess is rarely worth the resources spent to do so.

As with most claims on Reddit, it's utterly retarded. Looking at the 2024 election map tells you which counties have large cities or Indian reservations. If Trump were punishing cities that didn't vote for him, there would be far more punishment being doled out. Instead it's the ones behaving badly and allowing lunatic leftists to run rampant in the streets.

This is posturing by a number of parties ahead of the 4th CCP Plenum which starts on Oct 20th.

Xi is currently engaged in an internal fight for his life against a rival faction led by the head of the Army. He had been planning to drum up enough support to be declared Regent for Life aka "Great Leader". This seems unlikely as the opposing faction is outmaneuvering him. He went to ex Premier Hu Xintao last week seeking support and was told very publicly to Fuck Off with a detailed list of why.

The Yop General is further maneuvering to make Xi seem weak and pathetic. It's unclear if the global trade demands are from Xi trying to seem weak or the Generals faction trying to trigger a Trump reaction?

Either way it has caused Trump to tell Xi to Fuck Off and trigger a death spiral for Chinese manufacturing. And further to cancel the big meeting with Xi next week.

Xi's not looking very strong.

None of this is a good thing as should General Sum Dum Fuk take over he will likely attack Taiwan. He's been the one pushing the envelope. Rumor is he attempted to invade back in 2023 under the guise of a War Game. Xi pulled the rug out from them. Xi had been rolling up the Generals friends for corruption. But now Xi's Generals are getting popped.

Odds are Nothing Ever Happens and this will all blow over by November. But there is a possibility of things taking a nasty turn. Ask yourself. Why did Trump really assemble all the Flag Officers last week? What were the Non-Public meetings about? Indications are it was "prepare to fight".

This reads like you bought into every single speculative thing about intra-party intrigues that Falun Gong outlets like China Observer, China Deep Dive, China Uncensored, and so on post ad nauseam. While those outlets post a lot of seemingly true stuff, it should be noted that Falun Gong media is hardly preferable to CCP media, let alone Taiwanese media. The biggest problem I have with China watchers is that there’s always a level of certainty and hubris people have when discussing the most opaque nation on the planet. Is Xi Jinping locked in a power struggle with Communist Party elders and the People’s Liberation Army? It’s certainly plausible, there’s a certain level of precedent for it to happen, but all we have to go off right now are unsourced rumours and unverifiable hearsay. It’s far more likely, at least to my American brain who prefers Occam’s razor, that Xi Jinping’s trapped in his own personal echo chamber and made a rash decision that he doesn’t fully understand the ramifications of his actions. The only time I’ll ever believe that Xi is losing a struggle session is if his face isn’t plastered all over Xinhua… and it certainly seems like his ugly mug ain’t leaving any time soon.

As much as I would love to believe the China rumors about Xi having a stroke, both China and North Korea are some of, if not the most opaque nations when it comes to their leaders and power struggles.

Can that fucking dam get blown up and their factories destroyed so that filthy fucking chinks don't get to pretend that they are a world power.

What's the point of being a citizen of an empire that spans three different continents if you're leaders are only going to be malicious assholes that let things fall apart or foreigners only working for the benefit of their kind? Rome was stronger when it's government wasn't plagued with corruption and deal with hordes of germanics migrating in and working their way through the government.
