Because cutting Destiny off is the smart thing to do and any therapist would tell them to do that. As much as I don't like Melina, I do believe that she's a victim of narcissistic abuse and the only way to get out of it is to go no contact. I guarantee you that she's been advised not to respond to him, give in to his prodding, etc.
Because Destiny has severe abandonment issues, one of the techniques he learned to get people who leave him to come back is to attack them. If he can't do it directly, he does it with his flying monkeys or his "little birds." You know how Destiny compliments himself with his endless charity, how he can ALWAYS forgive someone and move give blanket forgiveness to people? He's full of shit when he says that. It's another technique that he uses to get people to come back to him. He wants Hasan to be his friend again. He wants Vaush to be his friend again, too. He just wants them to bend the knee and act right. We recently saw this with Pisco and Hutch. He does not like to be abandoned, and I cannot stress to you guys enough how much it bothers him that his friends have abandoned him. That eats at him more than you guys know. It bothers him that people don't like him regardless of what he may say. It really bothered him that Ludwig things he's a weirdo and said the vibes were off. Destiny copes and pretends like it doesn't, and his dumb audience believes that he's impervious to it, but it hurts him probably more than it does the average person because he has developed an entire coping mechanism to protect his fragile little ego by validating himself through other people.
When he goes on the attack against people like Hasan, what he's doing is trying to trigger them into talking to him. That gets them in a position where he can do some other manipulation tactic to get them back. That's what Melina is trying to avoid. And honestly, as spineless as it may seem, she probably should prioritize herself over Pxie. Hopefully after the lawsuit Pxie will be smart enough to do the same.
By the way, Anavoir and Chaeiry are perfect examples of people that Destiny successfully breadcrumbs.
When you go no contact with someone, you're not supposed to vaguely allude to them. You're definitely not supposed to directly respond to them. You're basically supposed to treat them like they're dead. (Hasan was also right to not respond to him, but he couldn't help himself at some points.)
The reason attacking them works is because he's now hurt them and he is the only one who can make it better. So if you're part of this trauma bond, the person who routinely traumatizes you has to be the one who makes it better. That's how lovebombing works. It's similar to good cop/bad cop brainwashing techniques that the CIA use. Anavoir is particularly vulnerable to it, but it can work against completely normal people, too. If you think about your own life, you can probably think of situations where it's happened to you. Someone was shitty to you and then made up for it, and you felt a particular bond with them afterwards because you have some shared experience and mutual understanding. (This isn't always manipulation, I'm just trying to explain why it works.)
The other thing is that ignoring Destiny hurts him a lot. It drives people like him crazy when he can't get the reaction he's looking for. That's why he says that about kiwi farmers. He really does give you a lot of little insights into his mind when he talks about people. He says it drives us crazy when he doesn't give us attention because that's how he thinks.
As fucked up and deranged as it sounds, part of the reason he's antagonizing Pxie so much, aside from wanting to ruin her reputation so she can't harm his, is because he wants her to forgive him and if he can get her to respond to him personally, he thinks he can do that. People should take note of the fact that he has conditions for forgiving her. Which means that he wants her to be his friend again.
ANY opportunity that Destiny has to contact these people about anything is an opportunity he will use to get them back into his life. It does not matter whether it's a positive or a negative experience. He can work with both.
Edit: By the way, I noticed that Destiny made a comment on Twitter about Hasan's dog and how we should be able to tell a lot about Hasan from the way his dog acts. Well, I'd like to say that we can also tell a lot about a person by how their former friends and lovers act around them, too.
Maybe that dog is just SUPER unhinged and uncharitable and mindfucked. Maybe some Hasan antifans got to her. Has anyone checked to see if maybe Kaya has been talking to any lawyers that Hasan used to date?
