Pam Bondi use the word "dox". Never heard a government official use that before.
Katie Porter appears to have a number of people who seriously don't like her considering how much is coming out about her recently. My guess is that disgruntled staffers are involved somehow.
You know she's indefensible when the best that friendly media can do is the 'ol "republicans pounce" schtick

@RantyAndy I'm late but I caught up and no one mentioned it, so Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War. The politics in it are insane, city-states and Greek colonies have revolutions to change their system of government between democracy and oligarchy depending on whether they want to ally with Athens or Sparta; at one point Athens debates becoming an oligarchy to try and get Persia into the war on their side. It constantly feels impossible to imagine these things he's describing, it's so old it feels alien and you find yourself wishing for more concrete details to make sense of it; but the longer I live, the more it feels like it just exactly describes human nature and how things are still. Doesn't help me understand any better though. Also Teddy Roosevelt liked it!
Born and raised, unfortunately. Southern California no less, but not Los Angeles!
There's some good people around there out away from the cities. Also way up north (there's a ton of CA north of SF and Sacramento). CA is fucking huge and it's still only about 60:40 D:R so it's got more Republicans than most other states. Nixon and Reagan's state too. I honestly wonder if they did an honest census and election exactly how things would shake out...

I live in a very conservative city in SoCal. Lots of good honest people, very low crime rate, 3% lower taxes compared to LA, significantly cheaper rent costs(still high for normal states) good traffic, and a lot less drama. I only go to La when I need to or when there’s an event I want to go to.

I used to really respect Chomsky, but when I heard him say that people who don't want the COVID vax need to be isolated from society, I lost a lot of that respect. How does a guy who wrote the books on propaganda not see propaganda?
it's only propaganda when the chuds do it
when we do it it's fighting disinformation

What are your favourite/most looked back upon political or history books?
The Art of Love by Ovid is a fun read if you want to learn about how to pick up chicks during the early Roman Empire.

You must've spent the last 10 years wildly drunk, because 10 years ago Obama was president and he was most definitely not hated (even though he probably should've been).
In general people were pretty sour on politicians, even people were getting pretty tired of Obama at the end of his term. There is a reason why 2016 was an establishment vs outsider election with Trump and Sanders gaining unprecedented momentum during their respective primaries and eventually Trump blowing Hillary the fuck out even though she had the establishments full support vs a guy who was seen as a joke. Trump wouldn't have gotten as far as he did if Americans as a whole didn't have a deep hatred for politicians.

Yeah, West Coast has their own set of unique problems. The president only has so much power. Gas keeps falling where I'm at. Eggs just fell again. But if Kamala were president, I guarantee gas and eggs and everything else would be even higher everywhere.
How quickly we forget. Trump fired the chinawomen who was ordering the mass culling of chickens.
WASHINGTON, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture out of her office on Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by the Trump administration, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Phyllis Fong, a 22-year veteran of the department, had earlier told colleagues that she intended to stay after the White House terminated her Friday, saying that she didn’t believe the administration had followed proper protocols, the sources said.

yeah
obviously chuds hated king nigger even back then, but the general public definitely didn't.
Of course you aren't. But he was implying that people disliked politicians across party lines at the time, which would mean that the dislike for him was universal. It definitely was not.
Yes, but *I* was the Democrat who had voted for him twice at the time. You may forget, but he didn’t really get into his serious race hustling until his second term. We really thought we had beaten racism back then, you guys. What a fucking joke that all turned out to be.

As far as political book recommendations go:
  • The Russian Revolution by Richard Pipes (A longer book, but it gives great detail on how the communists took power, and Pipes does not white wash it at all)
  • Politics by Aristotle (It's one of the fundamental books for political philosophy)
  • The Prince by Machiavelli (It's a classic, and frankly I find his accounts of Italian history to be the most fascinating parts of the book)

My ideal Presidential candidate drops all this culture war bullshit, runs on political reform, and ideally gets enough support to get a 2/3rds majority, or works with the other party to amend the rules. You might think this is wishful thinking, but all it really requires is for everyone to calm the fuck down and bring ourselves together. For our Republic to continue functioning and avoid all these political shenanigans, finally get shit done via legislation, we have to work together instead of fighting. After we fix this problem, then we can have at it just like before, but I'd ideally like to have a new Constitutional Congress so we can all get back on the same page.
Get it through your thick (possibly brown) head that these are innate differences and the 'culture war' runs a lot deeper than you admit to realizing

I've seen a lot of administrations come and go. Both Democrat and Republican. Nobody is like Trump. Not even Reagan.

The reason why Trump commands so much charisma is because his is the only president who actually cares about his voters. All of his voters. He's the only president who is trying to actually help regular people in tangible ways instead of giving nicely worded, vague speeches written by his staff of speech writers.
He's won over so many people because he's introduced sincerity and honesty to politics. With Trump, you don't need to guess where he stands on anything or if he secretly has different views or a hidden agenda— it's all in the open as long as you see him speaking in context.
Trump is authentic in a world where authenticity is the most valuable social media currency.

This gained a lot of attention in the late-2010s and there was an intense but short lived public outcry against CRT. A few governors outlawed CRT and everyone went home thinking the day was saved.
A huge problem conservatives have is not understanding that personnel is policy. They think if they just change the rules, then the far left will be defeated, because now they have to follow the rules! They have no concept of what it's like to be a person who has an agenda and won't let rules get in the way. You have to identify the Marxists and fire them. If you fire all the Marxists working in the school system, you won't have problems with Marxism. Directing them to stop teaching Marxism won't work.
