I already have A Journey Through Fairyland on VHS - it is probably the easiest to find of the various Sanrio titles released here, but everything else I am somewhat excited for, especially the stopmotion Nutcracker film - largely due to the involvement of Christopher Lee.

Think about it. Imagine the marquee: "Christopher Lee in The Nutcracker." Now doesn't that sound awesome?
Someone I know did question which master was DiscoTek going to use for this, as Sanrio did do a remaster of the film a few years back that did make some edits and added in digital effects in places and it made this guy wonder if that's what DiscoTek was going to use over the original version of the film.

I'm disappointed I haven't heard anything on the Chargeman Ken and Goshogun licenses yet, though.
Hopefully those didn't fall through.

Anyway, funny how many people discuss Berserk here. What was everyone's opinion on the new series and films? I personally was not a fan. The new series did a better job at actually following the damn story than the films, but that animation. :stress:
I've only seen bits and pieces of the films and I really liked the style of animation, but the 2016 series' CG is so bad it makes it unwatchable. I've only seen an episode out of both seasons, and it just felt like it was enough in both regards. The sound design is pretty bad as well, I get that Dragonslayer's supposed to be loud when it hits but that doesn't mean you should blow out the audio channels every time you blast its sound effect.

The GoShogun film is coming out in June, so they say. I'll be waiting.
Speaking of waiting, I see DiscoTek released the first episode of the Wizard of Oz anime in Japanese with English subs, that's a start!

But they're not even releasing the show in Japanese. It'll just be English only - at least that's what I'm getting from the press release.

I guess they're testing the waters to see if it'd be worth it to subtitle it.

Who knows, maybe they're just teasing us with this or it'll be an online-only thing.

Sounds like a one-and-done series to me.

The new series is pretty baaaaad. it suffers so hard from the poor animation it keep me from enjoying it and being a fan of manga just made the problems glare even harder. I can forgive a show for not having great animtation, if its entertaining enough. But after seeing cgi chibi puck in motion it was off putting. As for the films I've only really watched the first one and I was honestly pretty bored by the end of it. I might give the whole trilogy a proper watch at some point.

I am now fully caught up with Berserk. :stress::stress::stress::stress::stress::stress::stress::stress:

I might pick up Mob Psycho 100's manga from where the first season of the anime leaves off.

Both. I've heavily enjoyed all of Berserk and I look forward to more, but now I can't read it at the breakneck pace I've been going at for the past week.

That's a good rule of thumb: Not finished yet and really into it? Might want to slow progress a tad. Only unless you're not okay with waiting.

I'm mostly fine with waiting, it's just gonna kill me. I just gotta take my mind off it and let it build up chapters over time.

Eh, it probably will be. A series like this would probably only get released in subtitled form online. And there's no guarantee it'll succeed there - anyone remember Anime Sols?

I actually didn't mind the new anime too much and got used to the CGI over time. Granted it was still super glaring. Haven't seen any of the movies and I still need to finish the original anime.

Don't bother. You'll just be confused. If you want my advice when it comes to Berserk, find the manga and start over. Once you get to volume 15, if you go back to finish the anime then, you'll understand.

It's not a matter of confusion, I'm already caught up with the manga, read it first before starting the anime. It's just me bring lazy and lacking the motivation to watch anime again.
