Canada's housing / rental situation has been bleak for years now, in both small towns and big cities alike, where people are competing against many, many others for generally-overpriced pencil boxes. Everyone knows that if you currently have an apartment--and your rent remains below market value due to long-term tenancy--you stay put unless you're upgrading to a condo or house (in which case, you're richer than Croesus). This waddling twat believes she's going to apply for a place sight unseen, from a Middle Eastern desert wasteland, with the landlord not even meeting her (and God help them if they do), when there are loads of local people combing rentals all day long , desperate enough that they will literally thrust damage deposit cash into the hand of the landlord before they even finish viewing it?

You get sent to jail in Kuwait if you get a judgment for unpaid rent. Most leases are month to month, and there's no real tenant protections for non-Kuwaitis. Salah could get that apartment with very little background check because the landlord could throw his ass in jail if he didn't pay.
She's been talking to Peetz. He would've told her how much he's getting on welfare. She needs someone with a decent income to co-sign for her, but Peetz makes very little on his gibs.
