Been fucking around with green tree harlowe, I think it's breddy gud. not as strong as the red tree neutron capture thing but neutron capture is inconsistent and relies too heavily on crit knife and katagawa's revenge shock orbs, which I believe may be a bug. I wish launchers had shorter cooldowns or something, they rarely feel like a better choice than grenades.

Yeah he is indeed a robot.
actually interested in this, hope they don't fuck it up like they did with claptrap's rng skill in tps.

C4SH sounds interesting and the playstyle seem to be gambling in nature. Looking forward with how they cook with him.

Related to Lilith, I would prefer they just ditch her forever, maybe even ditch Sirens in part. She's too comically overpowered now. It was one thing to move a city, but to blast off to the Moon, and apparently to now teleport planetary bodies? It's goofy and contrived; they should have left her dead after 3 and shown that all the speculation was for nought. That would have been on-theme with Borderlands, where the first Vault only contained the monster and none of the riches and glory you sought after. Now? I have no idea what the fuck they'll do, as her existence and extreme power just hurts the franchise now.

Sirens in general are fun as a class archetype, but I would prefer they take a backseat in terms of lore. Borderlands is now stuck in a Mishima-style situation where the story just always revolves around the Sirens.

Need to pick a character in Borderlands [Arbitrary Number]? Pick the Siren, since you know they'll be coming back. Fuck those other three characters though, no guarantees.

First DLC vault hunter has been revealed and he blows the other 4 out of the water design wise.
Game released like last month and they're already pushing out DLC characters? In fact, with 3 didn't they just give all the existing VHs a new skill tree instead of making new guys?

the 1st was the best, not even close, it's the only one that had a kind of clear direction in style, gameplay and story
borderlands 2 isn't bad per se, but the only notable things is a charismatic villain ( and thats considering that sociopathy is a personality trait) and a post game (if you can call a DPS check as content)
i wish randy could pop eggs out of his urethra jusk like the seemingly underage porn he jeks off to

The first game had essentially no lore other than "there's a vault full of treasure, go get it" and was ironically much much better off for it.

2 had a decent enough narration but all the attempts at world building and characterization since have been an absolute dumpster fire.

the doom situation, some games are best kept vague but fags gotta fag i guess.
i agree with the other kiwi that complained about sirens, it's obvious the retards at gaybox want the game to be about them now even though the fucking eldritch horrors sealed in the vaults are way better and more interesting, it would be cool if they sort of linked as the sirens to be their pawns o algo which is why they have powers and shieet to make people wonder where all this shit is coming from, figure it's the vaults because siren gets more powerful when closer to vault and try to open it, causing the sirens nearby to become enemies or be absorbed by the trapped entity.

but alas, fucking fags, man, fucking fags.

its not celshading because the textures arent flat colors like in jet set radio or windwaker (the better known celshaded games)
if anything, it is stylized but more comic book shading style, hence the detailed linework around the character's textures
Gamers aren't very informed or intelligent about art subtleties. Another good example is all the morons who say Gravity Rush is anime-styled, when it clearly, and the director even cited that it is, inspired by European comic books, primarily Italian fumetti like Barbarella and Guido Crepax' non-erotica work.

i mean looking at images of the game and its art, i can see why

Reminds me of Jedi/Sith power creep. It was a big deal for them to move small objects with the force and then they went hogwild having them pull ships from across the galaxy into stars. And that was before Disney got ahold of it.

Yeah, The Force Unleashed pissed me off with that. I was glad to see it deleted when they were bought out, but little did I know they'd merely traded one gay fanfic for another. At least the EU had a collection of good stories in it, Disney's version has been terrible.

But yes, therein lies the problem. Borderlands has been interesting when the driving force has been either the Vaults or the mega-corporations shifting around in the balance of power. The latter seems like it's gone forever sadly, a shame when Hyperion's takeover was pretty memorable. Now these games just seem to go, "look at all these Mad Max vibes, what do you think this game is going to be abou-just kidding, it's really about the Sirens again!"

I'm convinced that no plot twist involving the Sirens could ever be interesting enough to justify having the story anchored around them so.

They got lucky with handsome Jack and have never been able to recapture it. Borderlands 2 and TPS are good DESPITE Randy Pitchford putting his shitty 12 year old boy "comedy" all over it, but they haven't made a good game since the 360 days. They even ruined Duke Nukem with their shitty brand of humor.
Someone needs to keep the fucking chubby pedophile magician out of the room when they're writing games. I'll probably play 4 eventually when they have it for like $6 on the Xbox store.

DNF was almost completely finished by the time Gearbox took it over. All the writing and voices were in place YEARS before then.

"Gearbox Software took over the game's development when it was struggling, and therefore likely made significant changes, including to the writing."
You realize that Randy pitchford was one of the people who worked on Duke Nukem 3D, right? I don't care what you or anyone else says to me, there are dumb fuck, out of place jokes in that DNF game that sounds like they came straight from the mind of the chubby pedophile magician.
The only interviews that I can find online from Randy is that they didn't change anything about the STORY, so you can only surmise that the changes they made were to dialogue and other things of that nature.
I don't even know why you're defending it, because one time is an anomaly. This is a pattern, my man. You're telling me that every single game that Randy pitchford has touched has lame fucking 12 year old boy cringe humor except for this one because it was "mostly completed" by the time he got to it? You're on fucking walkabout.

There are videos on YouTube of the last build 3D realms was working on. Almost nothing is different in terms of story or dialog.

I don't know why you're smoking this guy's pole so hard because literally every game he makes has the same awful fucking humor in it, but let's say for the sake of your delicate sensibilities because you're obviously gay for Randy Pitchford that he didn't make any of the dialogue changes in Duke Nukem forever.
He's still signed off on the final product, which was full of the kind of 12 year old boy gay cringe humor that only a pedophile magician finds funny.
My main man, no matter what he's responsible for the final product. And it sucked. Just like every Borderlands game that wasn't 1, 2 and the pre sequel sucks.
Every game that dude touches turns into gay cringe. It's like a serial killer with a very specific modus operandi. You might be able to prove conclusively that he killed 36 women, and you know that he killed the 37th one but you just don't have enough to prove it in court. I can't conclusively prove that he had a hand in fucking up DNF, but the man is a SERIAL game fucker upper. The M.O. fits and that's that.

There was a DLC campaign for Duke Nukem Forever, The Doctor Who Cloned Me, that was entirely Gearbox produced and the writing in it is the same breed of absolute fucking dogshit too. Levels are a little better since they aren't cobbled together from 14 years of unfinished drafts, but you can absolutely tell what parts of the main game were Gearbox versus old 3D Realms by playing them back-to-back.

We know from the 2009 leaks and interviews out of 3D Realms shortly after they dissolved that they had a small handful of areas that the few productive developers who stayed on after the heyday kept redoing over and over again for years while leaving everything else completely neglected. You can even tell playing the game because the stuff you see in the oldest trailers is still there, like the old west town and some of the skyline Vegas stuff, and those are substantially better than anything else in the game. Hamstrung by the weapon limit and shit balance but still astronomically above the absolute rock-bottom whack-a-mole corridors that separate them. A good 4/5ths of that game was visibly slapped together by Randy Bobandy's studio, writing included; not 3D Realms.

Exactly and I mean I don't know why this guy is carrying water for Randy so hard. If Duke Nukem forever was the only bad game that this guy has been involved in, I wouldn't be going so hard in on Randy. But it's habitual with this fucking mook.
He suffers from the same mental disease that a lot of woke gaming companies suffer from lately: they make games for themselves instead of the fans. He doesn't care what normal people think is funny or cool, he just wants to make turd jokes and kill off fan favorite characters like Maya in favor of Ava, and make an entire DLC about a faggot wedding.
He just makes bad games. And this other dude sitting here in the conversation pretending like he got a game that was 99% done and all Randy did was give it a thumbs up and ship it out is being dishonest as fuck. It's just annoying as hell how some people will ignore the obvious.

I haven't played a Borderlands before but I got BL4 to play with normie friends who normally I wouldn't play games with, since our tastes are different, and I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised.

I haven't played a looter shooter since The Division and this is pretty engaging. The plot is whatever, some of the gags are actually amusing (there's a few good side quests so far), and getting loot feels fun.

My only real complaint is that the level scaling is kinda funky at times and Ripper Queen is instantly murdering my Rafa build. Also the little line to guide you around is hard to see sometimes and doesn't stay around long enough. Standard open world junk problems.

I expected WAY more cringe out of the game after the bl3 horror stories. Its weird finding an AAA game tolerable, especially when Gearbox is usually a bunch of hacks.
