I agree with the broad strokes, but I respect her for weathering the storm and not flipping to being "based" and throwing out all of her ideals wholesale. Her money insulated her from the worst of it, but it still would have been much easier to either flip sides or just back pedal. I'd like to think she learned a thing or two along the way, but just the fact that she is human and has some semblance of principles is a lot easier for me to relate to than someone who just so happened to have a come to jesus moment the second they get pushback. She probably will eventually go back to advocating for dumb bullshit I hate, but in this case she has handled herself admirably imo. Probably easier for me admittedly since I am more of jilted leftist rather than any kind of conservative, but tenacity is just something I value no matter where I see it.
 
I'm glad she called Emma out on the defense of men's fetishes that she'll never have to be exposed to. I saw the clip years ago of her assuring a man that she was totally fine with him entering public restrooms, knowing full well she would never have to be in that bathroom with him or those like him in her life. It's easy to be tolerant of something you will never have to experience, similar to politicians calling for gun control while hiring armed guards to protect them.

The books give Hermione a lot more flaws. She’s even described as not being very good looking for the first few books until she fixes her teeth and learns to take better care of her hair. More of a personality flaw, she has a lot of misguided ideas on how to help groups seen as oppressed, like the house elves, and assumes house elves are all just like Dobby (who is in an abusive household). This isn’t really touched on in the movies, but she creates this organization called SPEW in order to help out house elves, even though the ones in Hogwarts don’t want it and say they’re being treated fine by the school (and like having the work in exchange for housing and food). Actually giving Hermione more flaws in the movies would have made her more relatable, but instead she was made into Harry and Ron’s tard wrangler without much depth.

I do wonder if the meddling with Hermione's character is one of the reasons Rowling wants a do-over. While she did famously have a lot of hard red lines, she would inevitably have had to give way to demands by the production team in order to keep the whole project running. We have no idea how much of the change to Hermione (especially giving her so many of Ron's lines) was her active choice and how much was her caving to executive meddling.

Honestly, this is one of the best posts I’ve seen written on Twitter. I think Rowling’s past with poverty really helped prevent her from becoming disillusioned since she understood both worlds and realized how easily one can use money to shelter themselves from problems the commoners can’t. Ok kinda random thought just occurred to me but has anyone looked in to whether there has been a link established between the infamously fucking depraved and autistic Harry Potter fanfiction community of yore, specifically those segments which overtly seethed at Rowling for not having the underage characters be aggressively rawdogged in every chapter not writing the books in line with their retarded shipping fixation/personal fetishes/generalised sociopolitical idiocy, and the later troon wave that became fixated on hating Rowling which acted suspiciously similar to this previous sphere right down to the obsession with fucking kids parasocial and absurdly overblown hatred of an author for not writing the way they want them to write
