Coming back to this thread to doompost, I don't wanna spend the apex of my life surrounded by retards who ask Grok to live their lives for them. Most of the guys I knew in my high school years sound like they're leagues above the zoomers in the horror stories you guys have posted in this thread by the mere virtue that they're what would've been considered "competent" 10-20 years ago, at least they know how to navigate a file system and one guy I keep in touch with installed Revanced which was rather surprising to me. In any case, tech feels like it's moving too fast.
I'm 90% sure the boomers growing up in the second half of the 20th century weren't worrying about if computers were gonna turn their kids into algorithim zombies, and yet here I stand imagining the future where I'm in some nursing home being cared for by some robot whilst people outside hook themselves up into the MetaverseTM. To think I'm gonna be nostalgic about this decade and the 2030's is mindboggling and I refuse to accept it. I would've much rather preferred adulthood in the mid-to-late 2000's, but all I have to look forward to is queers yelling "TRANS RIGHTZ R HYUMAN RIGHTZ" on the internet whilst praising muh bluesky, all the while cunts on the other side yelling "THIS IS WOKE" like it's their version of racist whilst bowing down to muh daddy musk and muh daddy drumpf.

I guess I should be grateful, it could've been worse.
I could've been born as a Gen Alpha.

If it makes you feel any better, those are just the vocal ones. I think your view is skewed by the nonresponse bias, because in the US/UK, the majority usually does not vote, and that's just those who are registered to vote, and they usually do not engage in social media debates, and because journalists are drawn to conflicts, online extremism is often performative and more for socializing reasons as well as just a search for personal meaning; offline engagement of extremism is low. The median Gen Z is either disengaged and focused on immediate material concerns or center-left and willing to 'mix and match' beliefs that do not cleanly map onto ideological lines.

Just log off more nigga, I'm not saying things aren't bad or that extremes aren't real, but they are very amplified by the Internet.

I don't even use any social media/forums apart from KF, neither do I live in Muttland or Yurop, but I'm still exposed to them through "cultural osmosis" for lack of a better term on KF where posters will repost Xitter screenshots. I guess what's got me discontented with the situation is everyone feels so generic right now, even normies with their broccoli cuts and the same generic looking blonde white girl look. Same views, same hobbies, same fashion, it's all the same with "DRUMPF IZ DA BEST CHRIST IS KING" types who have anime PFPs and trannies who also have anime PFPs and shill their "PROTEKT TRANZ KIDZ" shit. It's why I barely use any other websites apart from KF since it's one of the last few account-based forums where the people here are actually unique and different from each other, I can tell @Doğu Perinçek apart from @NvII iS 8ulLt f0R 88C easily. Dead internet theory is real and it's because of normies being NPCs and autists congregating into echochambers.

If you knew people in real life then they wouldn’t have anime pfps on social media. Try to engage outside of the internet as much as possible this is all bullshit

Not everybody has broccoli haircuts or whatever either

I hate to be that guy but have you guys looked at industries facing labor shortages in your area and thus would be still hiring?
It really depends where you live. Some parts face issues where there's no hiring jobs besides a Walmart, fast food or a gas station. I think people who live in suburbs have it much easier, despite hatred suburbs get online. Blue collar work tends to be an easy way in, even if the pay is shit for a long time and if it doesn't have a union gatekeeping it.
Do you think the zoomer cohort suffers from a lack of purpose and meaning? If you raise kids on a diet of nihilism-there are no truths, do whatever feels good-it isn't surprising that they'll grow up lacking purpose and try to find it in some crackpot ideology.
It's an interesting thought. I never knew anyone who was raised by nihilism personally, maybe some were raised to be overly optimistic with "do what you dream, and you will go far!" which falls until the feels good part of what you said. I do think that many are desperate, and some were unfortunately raised by the internet which makes them cling to crackpot ideologies or giving up with everything going on in life. Lots of this bitterness is how some were told "it's not about luck" when a good portion of it does come down to luck, so they feel lied to.

I was thankfully never really raised in a nihilist household though tbh, nor an overly optimistic one. It may have just been my dad with my great aunt stepping in to help sometimes, but he taught me to be self-sufficient and it's something I'm very happy about.

Both of them are pretty cool imho, yet I made lots of Turk friends, if we include my former roommate from Azerbaijan :felted: Dunno how, but they're funny. And I agree about the dead internet at times. I really despise how so many things got centralized, and there is something sad to see old forums that are basically ghost towns. Even worse is when some old forums and chatrooms get replaced with a ""JOIN OUR TROONCORD", and you can't see any of the old forum.

No sane person is going to drive one hour commutes back and forth.
Me who drives 40 miles one way for my commute: f63ed4353608ac2c6080fdafedd60865.webp
Luckily mine is night shift and virtually no traffic to get there.
I definitely have run into this constantly and it's very annoying yeah. Every "part-time" job now seemingly wants 24/7 365 availability where you work 1 hour short of being full-time. I just want a part time weekend job so I can pay my bills. I don't get how non wealthy people are supposed to make it much longer tbh
They're basically turning part time work into a psuedo-full-time job without the benefits, but they can't say that otherwise people are gonna be wanting full-time hours and benefits.

This is exactly what happened when I did warehouse work at a retail store on the weekends for extra money. They just kept cutting my hours until I was getting 0 hours per pay period. They clearly wanted me to quit but idk why they wouldn't fire me lol.

And yeah the Job market seems fubar ATM lol. Everyone in my friend group is barely scrapping by
This is scummy shit. Don't waste a worker's time if you don't want them around.

Hope my fellow zoomers here are having a great and relaxing weekend. I took my dog out to a new park, and I just made some homemade pasta and meatballs. Keep your heads up friends life is good, God is good.

It's nihilistic in that it teaches them that life has no meaning besides feeling good, so they pursue hedonism. They have no ambition in life to do more than smoke weed, play video games, and masturbate. Which makes me think that zoomers may respond well to logotherapy.

I also agree that many are desperate too; they grew up believing that college was a magical ticket to a comfortable life, and then they got fucked by the Great Recession. That can make people feel like their lives have no meaning if it turns out that what they were raised on was a lie.

(These are all the opinions of a late millennial, so forgive me).
I don't know what planted this sociopathic type of "discord exile" behavior in zoomers
It feels like a combo of cancel culture and seeing YouTubers/streamers blow up in popularity/noteriety. They think they are doing the "right thing", but in reality, it's merely a more publicized version of the gossip that happens when moms get together for tea.
Do you think the interest in power metal on social media will lead to a revival of the genre? UK Garage and the Hardstyle revivals have me optimistic but metal feels so dead outside of mainland Europe.
If you wanna be technical, it's been going on, though mainly in the underground in the US and Canada. Same with the trad style of metal (oft called the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal, or NWOTHM for short).
Has anyone else's friend group been basically hijacked by woke politics? Everything my (now ex friends) talked about in the past couple weeks is trans this trans that (in the affirmative position). Asking them to keep politics out of our chat was met with "wanting to avoid politics is fascism".

Idk its always felt so strange to me how fellow zoomers seem to be locked step full in on this shit it makes me depresso
It is. Even if you're against the politics of wokeness, it's still living in your headspace. Add to that the thousands upon thousands of opinions from remote strangers ranging from highly educated on the topics to just spitballing whatever comes off of the dome, all on apps and platforms that will show you these opinions whether you wanted to see them or not, will have an immense impact on your thoughts and psyche. (This is also why 85-90% of my time on KF is on the off-topic threads - I'd much rather see a user autistically talk about their music tastes or crash out that their sports team didn't win rather than seeing a grifter continue to grift and spread shitty ragebait xeets just so they can pay rent).

Good luck with them actually seeking therapy. Most of it comes down to motivation and wanting to change. But I see where you're coming from for the nihilism part.
crash out that their sports team
This weekend was rough for my sports teams :( Sports is usually, or should be those moments where I can escape politics and just enjoy something with people who are much different than me. Sadly politics gets injected everywhere where it has no business.

Unfortunately, the field of psychology is also captured with this same nihilistic mindset. Not to mention the Critical Theory philosophy of "my feelings are your responsibility, so if I'm upset, it's someone else's fault". But that's another story. IMO, they would be better off just reading Man's Search For Meaning.

Right. People often believe that nihilism means writing morose poetry in a windowless room lit by a single candle while your pet raven kills itself, but nihilism more often comes in the form of toxic positivity.

All nihilism means is that nothing has any inherent meaning. There is no morality, there is no afterlife, there is no truth. We're just clouds of molecules floating around reacting to chemical processes.

You can go the sad route and determine that if life has no meaning then you might as well just die, or you can decide that if nothing means anything then you can do whatever you want all the time. If morality does not exist then there's nothing wrong with molesting a child as you overdose on fentanyl, because the concept of "wrong" is meaningless. If it feels good, do it! Everything is fine! You can do no wrong! Just focus on feeling happy all the time!

Hedonism is just nihilism plus selfishness.

And anyone who objects to this is a bigot/hater/-istphobe/Suppressive Person, and the remedy is to remove them from your life. Throw away your friends and family to keep your personal hugbox of affirmation as huggy as possible and keep beating your girldick like it owes you money.

It should not be surprising that discarding everything that humans need for proper social function results in social dysfunction.

>invite 30 zoomer coworkers to lake house.
>family owned, so it’s totally free.
>an hour away, plenty of beds and rooms
>immediately have boomers trying to invite themselves, tell them politely it’s for the new staff.
>10 say they can make it.
>checkin 2 days before 5 confirm, 3 maybes
>day comes, 6 silent.
>2 flakes.
>knock at the door.
>it’s the boomers who showed up anyway

What is wrong with this generation what the fuck

Aren’t they all anime addled weirdos? Don’t those all have beach episodes? I HAVE A BOAT. MY SUPERVISOR IS DRINKING MY FUCKING SCOTCH.
I'll come over bro 💙

The cure for this is "taking the dishwasher job that is the only one currently on offer because [your generation's recession]". 2 years of that while on your day off, still playing your instruments/reading your favourite books/trying to get laid, will fix all your brain confusion. It worked for me and I don't even have a penis.

Tech moves slow as shit nowadays.

It used to be a PC maybe couldn't play a new game on low a year after purchase. Now you can keep your computer half a decade and play most games. If we didn't have forced obsolesence and shit code. A 2010 computer would be fine for browsing and office work.

We went from copper internet to fiber in a decade for thousands of times improvement in bandwidth.

We went from copper land lines to mobile phones that could talk and barely text to smarthphones in little more than a decade.

From 2010 to now it feels like hardware has screeched to a halt. Software slowly grows shittier. There have been no quantum leaps in any field except AI but it's as overhyped as pets.com. Just invisible slight improvement in some ways and slight degradations in other things.

There are a lot of things that are bubbling under the surface but no revolutions. Where are the super soldiers, where is the super hardy transgenic potato that has a complete nutrition profile?

All we got were blue LEDs, pretty decent battery tech, vaporizers and induction stoves.

Anybody notice how we’re balding a hell of a lot more than millennials? I know guys who aren’t old enough to drink but are looking into hair transplants and toupees. But when I see a millennial with his soybeard in his 40s, he has a perfect hairline. Are zoomers just inclined to balding or are millenials neotenous?
