Yes, the goal should be a quick execution, same for Luigi.

No more life sentences where they can become political symbols, get and write letters, and eventually get pardoned by a Dem president and land a cushy academic job afterwards.

Death sentences are constantly overturned too. There are 4 people on death row in Utah, all are there over 30 years, some closer to 40 all because of appeals and muh mental health.
Utah requires the jury decision to be unanimous too, all it takes is one person on the jury to think sentencing a 23 (?) year old to death isn't "right" and that's that. Don't forget his dad handed him in peacefully too and if there isn't a plea deal, a guilty plea can be enough for the court to show mercy.
Personally, I don't see it happening but we'll see I suppose.

edit; if he pleads innocent and turns it into a spectacle then all bets are off.
