Merusault is fucked continually because he has amazing ones
Crushbound Past is already insane and I can see it getting even better with the capstone ID of Meursault's Canto. Unless they decide to drop an even better Tremor EGO from the pass and have it buff that ID like Kong Lu does

Meursault's Season/Canto is gonna go so hard. Not sure if it'll outmatch the sheer edge Ryoshu's canto might have, but it will for sure be one of the better cantos, I'm calling it.
I wonder what his Seed of Light will do, seeing how it's Tiphereth's

Don't forget Chains of Others which is the best debuff in the game, especially for high speed enemies. Regret to ignore status effect build up (which is a favourite strategy to kill characters) and Capote to make burn double as tremor.

After Hong Lu's Canto having a downright happy ending, I wonder if all the excess edge will come in Ryoshu's story. Is her child confirmed death or will we get the scene of it burning to death after which Ryoshu distorts like Heath in his own Canto.

Teaser vid for the upcoming crossover was released

Most people are saying it looks like the event will revolve around something in Arknights called Abysall Hunters, anyone with any knowledge of the game care to chime in?
I've been getting into Arknights for a while now, so let me see if I can't summarize:
The event's main enemy will likely be the Seaborn - an aquatic, assimilating hivemind slowly dominating the oceans, and is one of the settings "big evil force that will eventually destroy everything" (one of several.) The Abyssal Hunters are Aegirian (fish people)/Seaborn hybrid bioweapons developed by Aegir (the country) to combat the seaborn. Also there may be "good" seaborn that are slowly trying to become people after assimilating people.

Ryoshu is absolutely going on a rampage in her Canto, that's for sure, considering her portrait in the Archive. There's definitely going to be a moment where she finally starts fighting back/struggling and protecting something, with Gebura's "The Courage to Protect" and all. She would mirror Gebura/Kali pretty nicely.

Maybe, the Cantos are based on the respective books of their Sinners, but also the on conversations Roland had with the Sephirah in Library of Runia, the virtues the Sephirah represent*, and the life of the authors. Yi Sang and Rodya both take quite heavily from their authors life, Don Quixote is based more on adaptations of the original work, while Heathcilff is that most adaptive of the works. I've also read miscellaneous speculation that since she makes a special not of how much she dislike having her memories messed with in Canto 4, and her having the passive Mutilated Memories when fighting Lei Heng, that her mind might have been messed with or her child was thrown into a concept incinerator. Concepts of truth, family, perspective, religon and criticism of feudalism also appear in Hell Screen so I think they are worth mentioning. Ryoshu's EGO does have her lying before a Buddhist alter and she is the first Sinner to get One Sin and a Hundred Good Deeds.

*Since Binah and Hokma are so different in feeling to Heathcliff and Don Quixote, it was a bit hard to tell with only them. But Hong Lu is such a good match for Chessed and his conversation with Roland, it does seem like a pattern. While the next ones in the line up, Ryoshu as the 'Courage to Protect,' and Meursault as the 'Expectation of the Meaning of Existence' also seem like really good matches.

I would agree, but I think there's also a chance that her chapter will deal with suicidal ideation. whenever she gets fucked Ryoshu is the first one to give up, both when Ricardo arrived and Don left the team she immediately lit up another cigarette, not doing anything else. I do think this characterization is important as we see the same thing with Lei Heng, the second he see Kong Qiu he gives up and begs for his life. So unlike Tanya, who discounts the death of the people close to her as unimportant, or Kali who lashed out in hatred, Ryoshu will end up giving up on life before she spurred into action.
Hell Screen does feature Yoshihide committing suicide, the monkey jumping into the flames with Yoshihide's daughter, and the author, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, committed suicide as well. In his suicide note he talks about how the fear of death was drained out of him, and now being unable to enjoy life has chosen death, with him clarifying that while he wished to be a god in the past, now he no longer desires to. To expand more of possible connections between Ryoshu and Akutagawa, he was known to feud with another author, Jun'ichirō Tanizaki. Akutagawa was a structuralist, who believed the structure and presentation of a story was more important than the lyrics, i.e the content or plot of the story. Ryoshu is known to dislike the Ring so I think there's more than a little chance that this feud over story would be recast as a feud over styles of art here.
Another important story for Ryoshu seems to be Spider's Thread by the same author, as she has a lot of spider imagery due to being connected to Red Eyes. In it, a sinner who has only ever committed one good deed in their life has that good deed some back to help in the form of the thread of a spider he saved. But in both works the thread is severed when he Sinner tries to strike those who try to follow him down. it is also worth noting that Spider's Thread is a retelling of the Fable of the Onion from the Brother's Karamavoz.
Akutagawa did also write the first Japanese Dystopian novel, which is heavily autobiographical. Basically everyone in the story can be said to be him in some shape or form. The only question is whether it was intentional satire of the Japanese, or his it was his attempt to express his personal suffering.
And all of that isn't mentioning possible inspiration from Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction...

Stats for Contempt Ryoshu are out

Contempt Ryoshu: Pierce Bleed / Tremor ID, inflicts Gaze ( damage increase to and from Ryoshu) until hitting a cap, converting to Contempt (less damage to and from Ryoshu). Unique Tremor that inflicts lust damage based on targets total bleed and tremor. Alternate Skill 3 that activates when enough gaze or contempt is spread around. Unique buff on defense skill will make Fell Bullet Yi Sang target her with an altered Skill 3, else on Yi Sang using his Skill 3 Ryoshu will premptively weaken the target with her Skill 1 without killing the target.

Worst way to activate bleed award

It's funny how EGOs became rarer and rarer because some of their passives are insane. Merusault is fucked continually because he has amazing ones, while Faust keeps getting hyper aggressive to not have people spam Fluid Sac.

After the Princess Maker being so good it might actually work.
tbh EGO's being powerful is a good thing because you can shard them anytime (except walpuris ones)

It makes me wonder, what do you think will be the thing that pulls her back from that point of giving up completely? & her Sapling of Light. Defending the Sinners I guess? It really depends if her child's dead or not tbf. But for all we know there could just be a bunch of new characters introduced that are relevant to Ryoshu's past.

I don't know, maybe Sinclair? Dante and/or Gebura could also have some pressing words for her. Just like how in Canto 8 Dante's activates Morositas, and says 'Under mercy all are equal,' applying 'Chessed's Mercy' to Lei Heng. Honestly I thought this next idea was dubious at first, but I wouldn't be surprised if Angela and the Librarians were watching the events of Limbus Company through Dante's clock head given what happened.
Although, the thing I am certain is her backstory. Given that Yoshihide was born impoverished and in the countryside, something the Hellscreen goes out of it's way to point out. I think Ryoshu was, like Kali and probably Tanya, born an orphan in the backstreets. Themes of poverty are also pretty common in Akutagawa's work. There she was one of many people recruited or offered recruitment by the Spider's House. In twist on Spider's Thread, this upper-class Synidcate affiliated operation inside of Q Corps nest offered out a 'spider's thread' of their own, but unlike the Buddha's spider thread, they were looking for a sinner who'd kick and stomp on other people in order to earn their way into a nest. There she met Lei Heng and her other 'daddies' lol as he calls them, who mentored her.
Although just you watch the Unsevering come out in December to prove that wrong.

Hm yeah that does make sense. I'm excited to see how Ryoshu's character arc will play out, but I admit I'm still more curious about Meursault's canto purely because his backstory is so mysterious, I can see it's aesthetic being minimalist as a contrast to the flashy eastern one that Canto 8 and (presumably) Canto 9 will have as a nice change of pace.

Also, where do you get the datamines from? I've seen you talk about datamines like the Contempt Ryoshu one in this thread before. Would be sick to see anything early

I'm just a member of the Project Moon Community Hub. I won't say which onea, but there are a lot of Discords, whenever an update happens I check spoiler, leak, and datamine channels for anything interesting, from there I check /lcg/ to see if they have any interesting comments. Although the C. A Ryoshu one was kind of a stand out, although combo ids existed before she's the only one that gave another ID a skill so a lot of the relevant information for her was available earlier due to sharing some assets with N Corp. EGO:: Fell Bullet Yi Sang.
Most of the leaks are things like graphics for unused EGO gifts at the most and achievement requirements at the least. Stuff like that, it's mostly uninteresting.

I see. Makes sense as I remember Limbus being notoriously rigid about datamining. Seeing Huanshu assets before her trailer was a surprise.

Anyways to anyone here, if you could pick any old ID in the game to get remade with the same power-creep / gimmicks as recent IDs, who would it be and what would it play like? Personally it's NFaust since she's unbelievably plain for a Canto boss ID. She'd also hyper buff old N Corp IDs on the scale of Kong Lu because holy shit they're in a bad spot

I wish they would do better buffs to other people like spend 5 charge to give yi sang attack up or 1 coin buff maybe if yi sang was a rupture giganigga he'd get more potency faster or for the humble meursault he can do like his ego and debuff himself but buff his teamate he becomes 1 speed while ryoshu gets a count of strider

Funnily enough I was actually discussing this with a friend of mine the other day and for me I'd choose GuidoSault. Here's what I had layed out:
(S1) Drive inflicts Bleed and Tremor, and gains Coin Power equal to half the Nails on target to a maximum of 5. Its also Unbreakable to compensate it rolling incredibly low.
(S2) You are Cleansed of Sin now Tremor Bursts twice, adding Count by Nails on target, and inflicts Coin Power Down as well as Bind and Attack Power Down. The debuffs inflicted scale with Nails and Stagger Threshold raised by the Tremor Bursts, to a level equal to Chains of Others.
(S3) Annihilate Heretics provides Fanatic next turn to N Corp IDs next turn.
(Guard) Foolishness...! is now Lust and gives Fanatic to N Corp IDs at combat start.

Two new passives:
The first is I am the One who Persists. When he dies, he revives himself (1-2 times per encounter) and cycles out the lowest deployment order non-N Corp sinner.
The second is Thy Noble Judge. Whenever he would gain Fanatic he instead gains a unique buff called The hammer of the One Who Grips, which is +2 Final Power per stack, and while he has any number of this buff, he gains +1 Coin Power.

Well, since the obvious and my favorite choices were already taken. I choose Sloshmael as a Tremor/Rupture unit with Tremor - Rupturing and Concussion.
Lobotomy_E.G.O--Sloshing_Ishmael_extractionpage.webp
She keeps her high rolling skill 3, which is her source of Tremor - Rupturing, but has to build up Tremor count on self to convert the stack before then bursting Tremor and applying Morale Boost to Glut. Resonance /3 allies. In the case the conditions aren't met her skill 3 just tremor bursts once. Giver her some Tremor and Rupture count on her skill 1 and 2. Her skill 2 applies 2 rupture and tremor count on the first coin and applies 2 potency of each on her second coin. If Sloshmael then has enough Tremor Count she reuses it on a heads hit up to 2 times, and each time its reused she bursts Tremor.
She keeps the same speed value, hp, and defense value while her offensive value is increased to +2 on all skills.
Yes this is just a weird hybrid between Rosepanner Rodya and C. A Ryoshu.
