On the same day that the first issue of the mature readers Red Hood series was released in comic book stores, DC Comics has announced that it is cancelling orders for all future issues of the series, and will additionally be offering credit for all orders placed by retailers on the first issue, including any copies that may have already been sold to customers.

Red Hood was originally announced as an ongoing monthly comic book series set in the mainstream DCU featuring the Batman supporting character of the same name — Jason Todd, former Robin turned troubled anti-hero — as well as Helena Bertinelli, AKA the Huntress, as they both relocate to Louisiana, only to find trouble everywhere they look. To date, three issues of the series had been solicited for retailer orders, with the Red Hood #1 released September 10, 2025.

In a statement sent to retailers late September 10, DC wrote, "DC Comics cancels existing orders for Red Hood #2 and Red Hood #3, and any orders for future issues of the series. DC Comics will credit retailers for all invoiced copies of Red Hood #1, inclusive of copies that may have already been sold."

The second issue of Red Hood was intended for release October 2, 2025, and the third scheduled for a November 12 release. Both issues were announced with Gretchen Felker-Martin as writer, Jeff Spokes as interior artist, and Taurin Clarke as primary cover artist. Red Hood, intended as DC’s first ongoing series rated for a 17+ audience set inside the regular DC Universe, was announced in July 2025.

When contacted for reasons behind the cancellation, DC Comics provided the following statement: "At DC Comics, we place the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints. Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC’s standards of conduct."

And everyone who even glanced at Manhunt knows the Red Hood comic was guaranteed to be a money-losing trainwreck. Someone at DC is thanking their lucky stars that they were given an excuse to cancel it before it left the station.

Regardless of CURRENTYEAR real life bullshit or whatever, Jason Todd as the Red Hood was one of the cringiest, lamest most idiotic things DC ever came up with and I hope it's never mentioned again.

The best thing Jason ever did was die, it was all downhill after that.

This stupid tranny should've never been writing for DC in the first place so thank god he got fired before he could go and make all the characters gay and lame.

The article doesn't mention the most important thing. The cancellation happened because the troon was celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk yesterday.

EDIT - I guess there is a photo of the tweet added here but no words about it in the article. The original article seems to totally avoid explaining what this was about.

Wow....

.... that art sucks.

All I have to say is "womp womp" you couldn't have acted professionally on your professional account?
To a troon? Celebrating violent deaths of their opposition IS being professional.

I wasn’t aware they knew how to write anything other than shooting manifestos.
That’s the fun part, they don’t! Even Patrick Tomlinson is a better writer and he literally just made a Donald Trump alien named Frognald Flump or some shit!

@Strix454 already pointed this out, but it’s weird how even though the article has screenshots that are presumably the reason for the cancellation, it doesn’t actually mention why. Almost like they knew they had to fire him but they’re worried about being the next target for these fine transfolx.
