I was running bootleg multiplayer Doom in computer labs at college in the early 90’s
Ahhh, that takes me back. Staying after closing time at the CS lab for some multiplayer Doom because it raped ethernet back then with all-broadcast packets and losers trying to "get work done" kept complaining about the network being slow... fuckin' good times, man. Sometimes I really miss those days.

Time for bed gramps
You're up past your bedtime, boy, don't make me take off my belt.

Where neoliberalism prevails, everything else is crowded out. Before long, there will be no standards at all in academia except DEI shitlibbery. Students will be accepted to college who cannot even read and write, so long as they check correct identity group boxes. University of Connecticut is already there:

Late, but I don’t think this is one of those cases.

Another news video.

The student has dyslexia, ADHD and a speech impediment, and her lawsuit includes that she was belittled, humiliated and ignored because of this.

She completed her education by using adaptive technology like speech to text. I know some people (white) with very severe dyslexia, who are still illiterate as adults. One middle-aged man has had to pass exams for driving large vehicles and buses, and he has been able to complete them verbally or using similar software. She’s only 19 and there is so much more of this technology available now, so it doesn’t surprise me that she could successfully complete her whole schooling without reading and writing.

Rate me 🌈 but she seems sincere to me. She seems relatively articulate and not lacking in intelligence, and wants to prevent this from happening to any other child.

Although, I think there’s a possibility that she is so profoundly dyslexic that she would never have been able to read, no matter what interventions she had. It’s good that technology is enabling these people to access education, but there’s a possibility it’s making her not be appreciative of how many adjustments that have been made for her. Being born even just a decade sooner, she would have failed everything.

I'm very curious what Newsom is even trying to do here. I feel like people who like Newsom wouldn't even wear the parody of a red Trump had just because of the potential of being though of as a Trump supporter by someone unaware of the joke. This reads to me as horribly and pathetically desperate to stay relevant.
Given that California is full of psychotic people who would assault someone for wearing a red hat with words on it, how many people are going to look at it that closely...?

Lmao at X-lennials WE WUZ'ing technology. The most snowflake generation. Go watch your Jon Stewart stories and let the zoomers clean up your mess.

What the fuck are you smoking? Gen X were right there when computers for mortals became a thing. C64? Amiga? IBM PS/2? The birth of the Internet? We made all the shit that you millenial and zoomie faggots take for granted
You didn't design any of that shit. Those were all designed by people who were Boomers or the generation before.

The entire hippie generation was a CIA/FBI distortion. You think the beatniks and the druggies were just some random happening?

Timothy Leary (Havard) and Alpert (Stanford) Phds both pushed psilocybin during the harvard psilocybin project in the late 50s/ early 60s, they pushed acid as well. The music scene glowed so bright you could see it from space, Jim morrison's dad was deeply involved in the gulf of tonkin false flag that got us into Vietnam. Couple books have been written about the laurel canyon influence on music. Burroughs came from a super rich family, and was briefly in the OSS (publicly brief) he was in and out of tangier like he was still a spy.

All this shit has been going on for a lot longer than people seem to know.

you're welcome to be wrong, but this is a known issue that's been creeping up for years. the rise of machines that simply assume what you want, or give you pretty buttons to click for everything and then they do a ton of complex background tasking for you - not to mention the loss of file systems we've seen on mobile devices in recent years - has led to these little retards not knowing how to do basic shit on a computer. if it's not on reddit, tiktok, or one of their apps, they don't know how to do it.

this is why gen z are retards with computers, tech company actively dumbing computers down not only for muh UX but also for more control over the users device.

I had a thought about it not too long while ago - would modern zoomies be able to type on a T9 keyboard without a YouTube tutorial and autocorrect
They will never have the attention span and focus on detail required to type eight pages of code from a C64 magazine into your computer to get a Snoopy Red Baron game running without a syntax error.

10-15 years ago, the most annoying people on my domain were the boomers who needed to be shown repeatedly how to attach a .pdf to an email. But they were mostly harmless and knew (generally) that this was a tech they had to begrudgingly put up with for a while until they die/retire.

Now? Its retarded zoomers who somehow are even less self aware when it comes to navigating a simple network workflow at a business if it doesn't have hand holding instructions and flowery UI that makes it look like a mobile game. And they will dead ass look you in the eye and expect you to dumb down everything for them.

The competency crisis is starting.

I wrote most of a novel on an Amstrad CPC in the late 80’s and lost it all when the 3” floppy drive died (yes, 3”, not 3.5”) and I couldn’t obtain a replacement. I remeber when having a tape drive for your C64 meant you were hot shit. Always makes me laugh when someone who started computing with Win7 and has never even touched MS-DOS thinks they’re a tech genius.

Zoomers can’t even fucking read for the most part and I’ve never met one that could string a sentence together without 6 “like”s and 7 “um, y’know”s. A maximum attention span of 4.5 minutes doesn’t help much either. But sure, the TikTok generation will save us all.

You know, given that Vance has been set up as heir apparent for Trump, there is a good chance that Gen X, a generation that didn't even have a definitive start and end date until relatively recently, and that was never even given an alias, might not ever get a President who represents their generation.

Boomers held onto power so long and hard that there might never be a Gen X president.
Gen X got particularly fucked in the course of 21st century political developments. If you were a promising Gen X Democrat, you probably got purged by Hillary following Obama’s upset victory. If you were an ambitious Republican you were likely crafting your career as neocon. Praise be to God, neocons got BTFO when Trump showed up and made fools of them all.

Of all the major players of 2016, only Marco Rubio seemed to be quick on his feet enough to figure out which way the wind was blowing and reposition accordingly. It must have been a lot easier to come out of nowhere like Kristy Noem, also Gen X, and present yourself as a blank slate to the public. It’s easy to see why younger people are advantaged here.
