A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This is what they feared will happen.

When you push people into a state where they no longer fear you, and when you have to be protected by everybody and everything just to survive, your arguments and beliefs are easily destroyed.

The push-back has started and nobody is listening to the Socialist Workers Party who are screaming about 'Far Right Thugs' daring to attack them in Liverpool. We're done, our cup of sympathy is empty.

They never thought that they wouldn't be believed as the self-appointed moral arbiters, but now that even the MSM is questioning whether backing the always failing horse of woke is worth it their time at the top is coming to an end; the people have rejected them, the people have told them to fuck off.

Already, there is talk about 'when Nigel is PM he's going to kill us' almost accepting their fate.

I wouldn't cry if Nigel executed every Woke person (the real Nazis).

I had an argument in another thread about it once but I think there's some component of jealousy from those on the American-right who feel stymied by the current system they live under, yet can observe in real time as immigration dissent in the UK - a country oft ridiculed for its "weakness" and inherent inclination to servitude - can actually manifest dissident action on the right-wing that'd otherwise be labelled as a fed-honeypot were it to occur in the USA. Though it's understandable why they feel this way. Charlottesville happened and suddenly Youtube was censored and shadow banned any right-wing voices; Twitter/Facebook/Reddit all clamped down on right-wing opinions harder than they already were and frank overreaction allowed Leftist talking points to run virtually unopposed online. Meanwhile the UK can have a 700+ strong pro-remigration march headed by Britain First (a group I've seen get labelled as being a honeypot before) and there's no bipartisan national outrage or backlash because of how pissed off people are.

Regarding the American system, it also took a decade for Trump to get the conditions necessary to carry out mass deportations of just illegal immigrants, which had been a sticking point in American political discourse since way back when South Park was mocking the issue in 2004. And at the end of it all he's still a civic nationalist who's been prevented from doing the bare minimum by the system that put him in place to begin with. Legal immigration might experience some restrictions or hindrances but discourse-wise the UK feels like it's between "all illegals must go" and "some legals must go too" whereas the US is between "some illegals can stay" and "all illegals must go". There's some stuff pertaining to H1B1 visas but otherwise legal migration isn't in the discourse at all (though, much like the 700k reveal in 2023 for Brits, I wonder if the 55 million figure for Americans will do a similar job of inciting a conversation). Whilst it's taking undeniably longer for our government to actually act on discontent, the roadblocks screwing us a ton are a lot easier to fix relative to the ones screwing over the aims of the American-right. That's not even mentioning the fact the 1st amendment (lobbying) and 14th amendment (birthright citizenship) are going to make addressing the subject of legal immigration a monumental task.

That's not to say their problems aren't impossible to fix, and I do wish them the best, but some of them insisting Brits have already lost the war and we should roll over and die is so very fucking stupid. It just ends up coming across as envy that we're experiencing inertia in an area where they really aren't.

But yeah, no, that conclusion isn't a particularly hard one to reach. The Tories should've reached it 15 years ago when Labour rushed the fuck out of passing CRAG but apparently nobody in parliament can look anything up. The shockwave of shit that would come from the civil service if you threatened to demote them back into a purely servile role and eradicate the glorified HR that is civil service commission would give me schadenfreude so intense, they'd have to unglue me from the ceiling.

Mobilise against the far right on Saturday 13th September
This branch/district/region/committee/executive notes and believes:
  1. On Saturday 13th September the fascist who calls himself Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley) has called on his far right, racist and Nazi supporters to take to the streets of London.This follows his recent release from prison.
  2. Last October, Stand up to Racism backed by many national trade unions mobilised tens of thousands of people to demonstrate in London the last time Robinson and his supporters tried to march in the capital.
  3. That mobilisation was successful in pushing back the growth of Robinson’s would-be large scale fascist party, but he is not giving up.
  4. That alongside Robinson’s group we have also seen the continued rise the racist Reform UK under its millionaire stockbroker leader Nigel Farage- with its unprecedented success in by elections and the 1 May council elections this year..
  5. The mobilisations against Robinson achieved the important aim of forcing even Reform Uk to distance themselves from him and prevent a link-up between Robinson’s hoped-for street army and the electoral growth of Reform.
  6. That Stand Up to Racism national and locally coordinated a major campaign against Reform UK during the run up to the 1 May elections this year.
  7. In Cambridgeshire Stand up to Racism coordinated a broad campaign against Reform UK as part of this. This involved street stalls in towns across the country, leafletting of key wards, the distribution of over 20,000 leaflets exposing both Reform UK’s racism and its anti-working class policies such as privatising the NHS and slashing taxes on big business.
  8. Cambridgeshire Stand up to Racism also took part in and had a stall at the recent 24 May event coordinated by We Demand Change and supported by many local trade unions, community and campaign groups successfully opposing racists under the Great British Strike banner who wanted to occupy Cambridge’s Market Square.
  9. That it is important that all these campaigns continue and develop to continue to oppose both Robinsons and his supporters and also challenge the rise of Reform UK.

And the reason they all have identical signs is because they just buy them from the same people they get bussed by. If not bought, then yeah, the "charity" is also providing them with signs almost definitely.

Composed of union leaders, Labour politicians, and Muslims, it may or may not (lmao) just be a front for the Socialist Workers Party. The reason why they're sending Stand Up To Racism to counter-protest is probably because calling the anti-immigration protestors and concerned mums fascists isn't good optics.

Unfortunately we can't get accurate numbers pertaining to income and expenditure. My last post on these guys had a pie chart and data but that was apparently a different charity, so I apologise for that.

TLDR: Yes, they do bus them in. They don't hide it. What they do obscure is that they're a sister organisation of Unite against Fascism, a socialist organisation meant to counter the right lead by prominent Muslims, union leaders, and Labour politicians like Diane Abbot. The counter-protestors are also likely composed of trade union members, actual socialists, Muslims, students, and naïve people I.E. exactly who you'd expect.

I think, ironically, the having of scads of guns is one of the things that keeps the American right so docile. They're so confident that they will totally be watering the tree of liberty any time now, you betcha, that they have allowed themselves to be salami sliced into a militarised police state and every fresh infringement is met with "if they keep pushing then by God 1776 will commence again!". But it never does.

Must... Not... Fed post... Seriously though I hate how ignorant these guys are. So many of them are white british. Yet willingly marched into my town to advocate for the destruction of our local culture and populace, they pasted by graveyards with the graves of familys going back to the 18th century, whose descendants I know. And still they want to throw that away just to make a few ungrateful brown people happy. The only joy I can ever get, is that like all commie/muslim alliances, eventualy the dog becomes too violent to control and will bite back at it's owner.

Nigel Farage will tell Lucy Connolly’s story to key allies of Donald Trump when he gives evidence at a free speech hearing in the US next month.

The Reform UK leader will travel to Washington in early September to testify to members of Congress about threats to freedom of expression in Britain. He is set to bring up the case of Mrs Connolly, who was released from prison last week after being jailed for 31 months over a social media post in the aftermath of the Southport attacks.
Mr Farage said the case of Mrs Connolly, who after her release described herself as a political prisoner, would be “a very central point of what I’m discussing”.
